You are right the Dev of team ethereum doesn't makes updating the solution of scaling issues in ethereum's blockchain due to it is not be easy for fix the problem many decentralize application on ethereum's blockchain running right now, it guves the Dev team of ethereum extra problem ;D

There's no doubt that ethereum won't survive. As it has largest community behind bitcoin from my knowledge, with many developers working on it and creating their own smart contracts for other people to use it is hard to believe that ethereum will not exist in future. To my mind it can only be replaced in future if some more advanced platform emerges but ETH will still be there because of infrastructure some companies built around dApps and smart contracts on it.

Until and unless, some other coin with a better blockchain like EOS or NEO takes over and all the new projects decide to launch their coins/tokens on those blockchain and forget about Ethereum blockchain, Ethereum is not going anywhere.
