Title: Ethiopia Hosting! The Best Mining Deal?
Post by: KincaidT on March 13, 2025, 09:49:50 AM
I just saw that oneminers is rolling out super cheap electricity at $0.054/kwh for mining in Ethiopia–crazy low, right? I'm wondering if this could be my golden ticket to rake in more profits from crypto mining. But I'm also a little nervous–what if there are headaches like shaky power or tricky rules that could mess it up?

What do you guys think–big win or risky move?

AE you from US or those well developed country that has high purchasing power? That can let you think it is very cheap.

Electricity is cheap in Ethiopia according to my findings. Even cheaper to what you posted. You can read this about it:

https://www.globalpetrolprices.com/Ethiopia/electricity_prices/
https://addisinsight.net/2025/03/09/ethiopia-to-increase-electricity-tariffs-starting-april/

The country wants to increase the electricity price but which I still consider to be cheape.

oneminers shill finally decide to shill and spam on this forum. To other reader, oneminers is a probable scam mining company. I've write about it on oneminers dot com is a probable scam mining company (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5534176.0).

You can be so right. I was one of the victims of supposedly "mining companies" offering opportunities to small investors only to find out later that the scheme is actually using Ponzi style and just using mining to attract people and to hide their real shenanigans behind. We should be careful to get into a program where we don't have the real control so we will not be victims of fraudulent organizations. Scammers are always creative to entice possible investors that they will be earning money passively or just doing nothing...but to end up crying in the rain holding an empty plastic bag.

Hi, I am new to this forum and I have read this message. I am not related to oneminers but may i know what made you say they are a scam mining company? I went to their site and I even saw pictures of members or workers in this company. If they are real scam, why would they post their pictures and attend to different conferences as a proof that they are legit? Do you have any encounters with them and scammed you? They even have a lot of videos in different platforms or social medias showing their faces. It is not easy to show your identity if your intention is not good. It's not that I am defending their company but I also made a research before I reply on this post. Maybe you also need a thorough research before saying that they are a real scam.

Ethiopia's low electricity cost is attractive for mining, but power stability and regulations are key concerns. It could be a big win if oneminers has solid infrastructure and backup plans. Worth keeping an eye on but still do thorough research about oneminers.

I think you are being too harsh, crypto is tricky, so caution's key but slapping a scam label without proof feels off. I searched oneminers and they have a live facility, real people's faces on social media, and they're posting the growth of their company. check their transparency, its smarter than guessing and hating.

Most African countries actually have lower electricity costs and it's mostly because of the value of their currencies when compared to the dollar. Aside from that some other African countries still have a relatively higher electrical cost compared to Ethiopia.

Electricity is an important thing to consider but not the only thing to consider since cost of wares in such countries are still higher than you would expect just like you were surprised about electricity costs too.

Then why not go to Ethiopia and do your own research or contact a miner in Ethiopia and ask him about profitability? In fact, there are chinese mining forms already in Ethiopia and they transferred
their operation after they got banned from Mainland China, so moving to this country is a good option if you are serious about setting up your mining.

Mining on someone else's computers, using their devices and is a lot of risk to take because mining is meant to give independence, but here it won't give that but if the project oneminer is real and they have positive feedbacks from the reviewers, then giving it a try worth the shot.

The energy can be cheap for many because those who live in big countries like Us etc for them it would be very cheap but for many it won't, it depends on the inflation and earning rates of the countries. If you give it a try then share it here again.

Here are my responses.
1. Have you read list of red flags on link i shared earlier? If yes, what do you think about those red flags?
2. Their website claim they attend BTCPrague 2024. But i unable to find mention of their company on BTCPrague website. I even use this keyword on google search, but with no search result.

site:btcprague.com oneminers

I'm aware i'm being harsh, but
1. I said "probable scam" rather than "scam".
2. It's true i don't have proof. But link i mentioned earlier mention so many red flags, which is enough to say "probable scam".
3. How do you know image on their website actually show their facility and worker face?

OP, do your own research and then get back to see the opinions on the matter on the post, because there would be many of those posted, yet you are the one that is the king that decides what to do next.

Although, don't forget - it all may be a rug, as it was discussed there.

Are these videos still not enough to say they are a 'probable scam" and attended BTC Prague?

Their faces are all over social medias and they also have many videos promoting their brand.

How about this photo that they attended Blockchain Life in Dubai? Their faces and background doesn't look like edited or made by AI.

We are not helpful for companies with all the wrong accusations. Make a thorough research and have proofs that they are real scam before posting so we don't ruin the image of the business. I am not only pertaining to oneminers brand but for all. If you were on their situation, building your own brand, you are true and legit, then suddenly, there's someone accused your business that you are probable scam and spread wrong rumors to all forum members, would that be okay with you? Of course not!

So before all "accusations" and "probability", make sure you have proof before spreading your words.

My question is who the hell is selling electricity that cheap there?

Electricity rates have actually gone up here - I pay all the utility bills for my house.

Maybe it's because nearly all the miners are hosting right next to the GERD dam, but if you go around 90% of Ethiopia you're only going to find expensive, unreliable electricity (factories are not exempted - and mining with a backup generator is economically inefficient, anyway).

Getting information from a mining site will give you false results. You can go to the official website of your electricity company and get a long-term contract with stable electricity. Then you can claim that you have obtained cheap electricity. Otherwise, the numbers on the internet cannot be verified.

No it's not and it's actually more expensive that in the US
https://www.riotplatforms.com/riot-announces-december-2024-production-and-operations-updates/
Riot does it at 4.1c/kWh.

So before all "accusations" and "probability", make sure you have proof before spreading your words.

Why is your picture from Carolina datacenter to be built in 2025 stolen from EzBlockchain construction from 2022?

--snip--

1. Those videos are not enough to make me stop assessing "probable scam" when tons of red flags exist. As reminder, oneminers dot com is a probable scam mining company (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5534176.0) list the red flags.
2. Those videos are only enough to proof they visited BTCPrague 2024, but i still find it's weird BTCPrague website doesn't mention this mining company at all.
3. While i agree it's ideal to have proof, i believe warning people when there are tons of red flags is acceptable. For example, US FTC (Federal Trade Commission) actually accept report even when you're not sure whether it's a scam. They don't even mention it has to be "probable scam".

Quote from: https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/faq
I'm not sure if it's a scam or fraud — should I still report it?

Yes, please report it. Whether you think it’s a scam, you know it is, or you’re not happy about a business practice, tell the FTC. The FTC and its law enforcement partners enforce a variety of laws. Your report makes a difference and can help law enforcers spot problems. Start your report now.

I just went to an internet cafe today, different area, and they couldn't print anything because there was no power. Had to wait a full 30 minutes for the electricity to come back  :(

Then again, the distribution network is old as fuck. Occasionally you hear about power lines falling down.

Well let's hope that electricity really is cheap for these miners because sooner or later, they're going to start getting fees bumped up.

Well, you can throw in a lot more things if it's not clear enough
The profitability table shows income not profit despite showing the cost of electricity, which is at least deceiving
https://oneminers.com/pages/miner-profitability
Their calculator on the product page shows profits for 1 cents/kwh which is insane, so again deceiving.

Quote
We offer exceptional services such as 7 years warranty for the miners, with priority processing we can setup and have the miner running within 48 hours of deployment of ASIC miners for priority orders.

I don't think I even need to explain this one.

But anyhow, looking at their page it shows circlehash, that means iceriver.eu, that means stay away from it. ;D
