Title: Are Virtual and Augmented Reality Casinos Going to Overtake Online Casinos?
Post by: 20Bet on March 28, 2025, 10:50:58 AM
Actually, augmented reality casinos have the potential to reshape the gambling landscape entirely. AR can offer a fully engaging experience, transforming the physical aspects we see at casinos into a digital gaming world with all the possible details. I believe the next generation will gravitate toward AR casinos unless existing projects take proactive steps to counter this threat. For example, online casinos need to start collaborating with developers now to explore the possibility of incorporating AR or VR options into their games. Otherwise, they risk finding themselves left behind, much like what happened to Nokia when touchscreen technology emerged...

What do you think? Are we witnessing the dawn of a new era in gambling? And more importantly, have you ever experienced an AR/VR casino? How was it?

VR headset like Oculus has been existing for a long time now but it is not a necessity like your mobile devices and laptop. Some people will see it as expensive because of this.

I do not think gambling in AR environment (like Metaverse) will be interesting.

With what is happening in the world today, people will prefer the way online casinos are right now. If accessing VR and AR is getting cheap and more people are using it, more casinos will look towards the direction but I do not think that will happen in this generation.

Most people bright now do not value those VR headsets and see it not necessarily having it.

I think this technology needs more time to attract attention and also the availability in the area or people can afford sophisticated tech as well and willing to spend on that thing for just gambling purposes maybe for the wealthy people this is cool but not for those who don't even have a mobile phone, a laptop or internet connection.

Neither the technology nor the applications for it have any kind of traction to consumers.
It's been already a decade since Oculus, about a dozen bankruptcies from competitors, failed projects from big companies and still no consumer product, the only fields some have been adopted are highly specialized areas like medicare or military, but those had something close to VR since the 70s.

Also metaverse, lol..

Virtual and augmented reality casinos cannot operate without an Internet connection; hence, they also fall under online gambling under online casinos. It will be another area that people may want to consider in gambling, but generally it will not be adopted by everybody because of various reasons, with some people stating their health as one and others considering the ease of usage, which we know will not always be possible in places outside the home.

And most of the time, old and traditional gambler doesn't want to break the way they gamble, so they will stay playing traditional base on online gambling. As far as I understand, if we play using  Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality we require to have this gadgets? For gamblers, it doesn't make sense as we need to spend huge amount of money for that hardware and instead just play with that money and you will have the same experience.

But I will agree that with this new technology, it will reshape the gambling industry. But I think it will be more of a co-existence rather than a threat. Or maybe they will invent some kind of hybrid version that online casinos will used as another option for us.
