The Heard Island and McDonald Islands have been hit with a 10% tariff.
The islands are located in the sub-Antarctic Indian Ocean more than 2,500 miles off the coast of Australia, and their population consists of seals and penguins, and they have no imports or exports to the US.
Nevertheless, the businessmen that Trump is considering this inappropriate and a threat to the US budget, so he decided to impose a 10% tarrif on this. Obviously, this will bankrupt the country since their economy will tumble from zero to zero.
The other nations at threat are:
Svalbard and Jan Mayen: Svalbard is an archipelago with a population of fewer than 3,000 people. It houses a Russian coal-mining settlement, according to The Washington Post. Jan Mayen, an island in the Arctic Ocean near Greenland has no permanent residents, only 18 people who operate a weather station and airfield. Neither island had any trade with the U.S. last year. The Trump administration has imposed 10% tariffs on Svalbard and Jan Mayen.
Norfolk Island: Norfolk Island is an Australian territory in the South Pacific Ocean with a population of just over 2,000 people. It had $200,000 worth of imports by the U.S. in 2024, yet it’s facing 29% tariffs, far more than the 10% tariffs imposed on the Australian mainland.
Falkland Islands: A British territory in the Atlantic Ocean, the Falkland Islands are facing 41% tariffs, compared to 10% for Britain
Now read this and keep telling me Trump knows what he does!

Seems Trump is not yet finish with this tariff war imposed to almost anywhere he thinks it's not favoring the American interests. Though I am not that accurate on this since I am not an American citizen but this has been on the internet since he started his MAGA campaign. Seems allied nations are now having this awkward actions especially those that are affected by the tariff war to keep distance with the US to seek another trading partners.

Well that should make people think he is fair lol he impose tariff on island with no one there.
If US is going bankcrupt, all countries I think will go down as well. at least most countries will also be affected including those tiny islands out there. This will trigger recession like what they are saying but there is also possibility that FED is going to lower interest rates which people will go back to investing more. And also companies in US will restart re-industrialization.

Bruh, he put 10% tariffs on an island with no humans, only seals and penguins! ;)

To reindustrlaize you need people working in those factories.
So, which American is going to work at $2 per hour making shoes?
And which American is going to pay 10x for those shoes only because labour costs in America are 10x times the ones in Bangladesh?

Does the country rely heavily on US resources? If so, I believe that would make life harder for the people there. You cannot really make a country bankrupt unless it is run by people who don’t know what they are doing.

have you guys heard of that golden card thing with trump’s face on it it basically is us nationality that can be obtained for 5 million dollars this basically gives rich immigrants easier access to the country
it’s amazing when you think of what happened to trump’s campaign against immigrants
i wonder what can he also add to the whole tariff situation firing backwards probably?

There are no people on that island, only penguins.

There is no need for anything else, tariffs are already backfiring, destroying consumer confidence and the stock market.
Even the usd has lost 8% on the euro.

That's how president of the America thinks and he even put tariffs on the islands where no humans reside. That's the power of Donald Trump, who else can do something like thin? ;)

What is he thinking? Huh...
No one is going to be affected with this move more than the US citizens and it may affect other countries in short term but US is not prepared to manufacture everything on their own so does he have any plan to make it happen?
He is been brought to the power not too long ago and he is already made the country worse that never happened in the last few decades.

I hope that he doesn't make Americans regret voting for him because whatever he is doing, he puts in in the name of the US. Why does he feel that the US has been cheated when we know that his new tarrif might send US to a recession of high percentage. US cannot survive on their own because a tree cannot make a forest. We need everyone to make the world a better place to live in.

Well, people will still survive no matter what and see end to this, if what is saying or doing doesn’t fit people choices, so people will air out tho voices, which the president won’t be biased on going against their will.
So whatever thing that the president is cooking, maybe it’s for the people good and also maybe to regulate stability and prosperity.

Some Americans are expressing regret of why the voted for Trump. This is not part of what he said he will do, when elected. His campaign promises didn't include increase tariffs on price of goods and services. Why the sudden policies that is affecting the US citizens, when the target is to make America great again. Is this the way that Americans will get there, by increase tarrif

I have no regrets about voting for Trump.
Trump is merely testing out just what he can get away with.
In time his real plans will be revealed to the entire world .
As bad as it may seem now it could be worse.
He is Donald Trump the greatest cooler than ever lived.

us citizens will survive even with a worsen economy because they are not yet struggling that much but should this happen in a third world country and they might just get buried under poverty but this is not to say that usa will not struggle their economy might get worsen but it will just not be the cause of immediate crash of the country because they are rich and a powerful country but should they weaken other countries will definitely jump on them to get ahead
