I really want to know about those who believe on having a trading mentor, how do you choose them?
What are the quality of choosing a trading mentor, is it by the result they has or by the profits they preached they made regularly without you seeing or what?
Please let us discuss how to choose a trading mentor.
Well, this topic was just posted the other forum and I decided to also make It here to hear different opinions by users in this community.

I never experience to have a mentor so I don't know what should be the required criteria of a good mentor.
Maybe, a quality mentor should have 7 yrs of trading experience or above with trading history as a proof that he can trade and able to make profit.
Plus why you'd like to hire a mentor? There are lots of free resources to learn trading for free why not start from them once you learn from technical analysis and fundamental analysis I don't think you still need a mentor since what they can only do is to guide and teach you the basic.
Other mentors I guess have different trading style like ICT, SMC or just a basic support/resistance and trends or candles stick.
A quality mentor should able to teach you all kinds of strategy and trading style. If he knows all of them that is +1 but take note you can also learn them for free everywhere or in youtube. So I don't think yoj can still need them.
-
Never knew about trading mentors because I only trade and learn self-taught.
But if you need a trading mentor then it takes a lot of research to be done, especially mentors who have extensive knowledge about trading, not only show off the profits on each trade but they give detailed explanations of how they can make profits and how the strategies are used.
If mentors are just showing off their profits without providing clear education about what strategies are being made, then they are just trying to attract more followers without providing the knowledge that should be done.

You don't get mentors for free, and I believe it's a bad idea to spend money on getting a trading mentor when you could use that money as capital and learn trading yourself for free from the sources and information available over the internet. I just wrote this in another thread: a trading mentor doesn't teach you anything out of syllabus; they give you information that you can already find online if you try, and they will take money for their time, and you don't need it if you are smart enough and can learn by yourself.
So, someone who thinks they are not smart enough to learn everything themselves, I think they will only waste their time and money by getting into trading because you need to have quick thinking abilities to be able to maintain everything properly, and if someone is smart enough to handle all the risks and everything, they can easily learn everything without a mentor if they give it some time and focus.

Trading is one of the best profitable source in cryptocurrency world. But if we can not acquire knowledge in cryptocurrency market or trading system, then trading will be very losses source for us. So if in this situation we take an expert mentor, i think that it will be very correct decision for me.
But when we want to take an expert mentor, we should take decide to mentors previous skills. Because i think that it will be very helpful for earn best profit in cryptocurrency market. Because when we follow in our expert mentors, we could understand easily many strategy from trading. But firstly we should trying to understand in cryptocurrency market carefully.

I never availed of a mentor for trading cryptocurrency so far though I know that having an effective mentor can really help a lot and can essentially shorten the learning curve which is very necessary for success. We have a lot of this and that tidbits of information, knowledge and wisdom and hopefully a mentor can guide us to fit things together and never be lost in information overload. However, we should also note that there are many mentoring programs that can be classified as useless and maybe even as scams. For me, I would only be convinced if a certain mentor can show me proofs that he is really successful and I must know some of his members who are also doing the same. Though admittedly, this can be difficult since these mentors are just online and they are not out neighbors.

You have a valid points though most of this mentors online are always eager to paid them and learn from them which most will disappear after the payment and there where about will be unknown. But same thing applicable to other mentors they are trust worthy and very positive, but I prefer to pay for physical class or lecture rather than paying online cause a lot of them are scam, the trading online lecture I paid for was my neighbor who his into forex trading and he his very successful and profitable in forex so I was so excited to see him that profitable so I joined and I paid him and he thought me both online and physical lectures and I really enjoyed but other than someone I know I don’t think I can pay for online lectures cause most of them are scammers and they will only take advantage of you and manipulate you. But there are many trust worthy mentors out there but be safe and choose your mentors wisely alot are scammers.

I think mentors choose who they will mentor and not the reverse. A mentor is more than a teacher. A mentor is one who is ready to sacrifice self happiness and winnings for his mentee. Majority of what we see in the trading business is hungry tutors who are looking for their daily bread.
If i am to advice, it will be beneficial if you have different sources of materials online, and join trading groups, you will learn better there than from a personal teacher or acclaimed mentor.

- Do we really need a mentor when we are trading? Do we think that when we are in the crypto space, we are required to have a mentor while we are learning trading? I am not saying that having a mentor is bad if we are just starting out in crypto trading.
In fact, it is even an advantage if you have a mentor to guide you while starting out in the crypto space. It's just that not everyone who wants to learn to trade wants to have a mentor. There are mentors who are paid and there are those who do not have to pay. And of course, as an individual, I studied trading through self-study. So, the one who seemed to be my mentor for free was Mr. Google search, and YouTube about tutorial video trading.

For those who are not that secured about having to Google things can actually have a mentor to teach them while trading because not everyone can learn on their own, and Yes people needs mentors who are that dedicated and routed into trading than just starting on their own to lose continuously, with mentor you loses could be reduced and minimized while trading.

I think one day a mentor is no less than a teacher. Choose someone as a mentor who is attracted to you and will show you the way to success. A mentor is someone who is ready to sacrifice his partner's happiness and victory for you. You can choose him as a mentor. If we look at trading traders, they only want to use whatever knowledge they have to move their lives forward. But they do not want to give good advice to the small users around them. And no matter how many times they are traders, we will never choose them as a mentor. I mean, you should choose someone who can sacrifice his happiness or sacrifice his victory for you. What is your opinion?

So far from what I have learned over the other forum it's important to look at results before choosing a mentor who would guide us to trade, most times with their results we can be that encouraged and inspired to put more effort to have same like results as they are and, of course whomever that is a mentor would always want you to have his same type of results if he makes profits on a constant and constant basis.
-
While this thread is talking about choosing a mentor in trading, one existing topic also talks about trading mentor being a scammer lol claiming to be a trading mentor but only sells their video tutorials on some online university.
I have no issues wit hthem actually if they are real or not but if you are able to learn how to set up your tradingview and watch some tuts on youtube, I think you learn from them seeing yourself going to spend hours and hours reading.
-
It is an intentional act while trying to choose a trading mentor. This is why you must be very observant of their trading results and take note of them. The trading mentor who has successful trading results sends a positive message to you that you can be successful too, as they are; that will prepare you for taking whatever they tell you seriously, unlike a mentor who has no results to show for the period they have been trading.

I really want to know about those who believe on having a trading mentor, how do you choose them?
First of all, I'm not among those people who believe in having a trading mentor because I personally believe that trading is something that one has to learn his or her self and there's no need to get any help or support from someone else.
However, if someone still thinks that choosing a mentor is a good option then that person should only choose somehow who's trust worthy but still then a question arises whom to trust and whom to not trust.
That's why I suggest everyone to learn trading themselves if possible.

This could be possible if that person had already been in the crypto space for long and should be able to know the kind of assets to trade with and not just random coin they may see on the market, here is where having a mentor is that right and there are people who doesn't have that technical knowledge to detects and do their analysis on the project to trade but they must at least start with those reliable coin such as bitcoin and ethereum also with usdt as where to start back their profits after trading.
-
This is so real and based on experience when I wanted to start my trading journey I searched YouTube and found alot of traders and mentors but the one I could understand the most was this one trader who broke everything down to the T showing how to read the chart and how to enter and exit and all the proof of her trades with receipt, she had seven years experience as a trade and being a mentor isn't really about knowing it's about how simply you can break it down so everyone understands regardless of me being new or old in trading. So just choose the mentor that you understand what he or she is doing and you will be good to go.

I chose trading mentor on the basis of reality they are sharing with us of market. If a person is just naming some terms and is not making sense to me I don't listen to them, I find those influencers the best who knows how to convey although it is better for a trader to know these terms if they want to earn more but I prefer simplicity.
There are these mentors who knows how to convey, and how to give proper reality check of market, they don't sell their courses they are totally caring to their community. I like knowledge the most so if they are feeding me the right one they are my mentor.

Yes, this is a good discussion, this are few qualities of a good mentor. On my view, i choose mentor based on consistent positive results over a certain periods of time on the market analysis. These few qualities may be considered when choosing a mentor
1 Professional competence and experience
Able to give constructive feedback after a success/failed analysis.
3. provide guidance, support and good communication skills.
4. Honest an Candid.
5. Always available, analytic and active listener etc
-
That is really good and important question for anyone who wants to learn how to trade properly. Choosing right person to teach you can make huge difference in how well you learn. If you ask me I will see these some points in mentor.
He should be able to show that they have done well over period of time with real proof like reports that have been checked by someone else or just history you can look at. Who can explain complicated ideas clearly break down trading into easy steps and teach in way that works easily. He should teach how to keep money safe and understand that can lose money in trading. If someone only talks about making much money quickly without mentioning risks that is bad sign. I will look for real reviews and try to talk to people who have been taught by them before.

Most of the mentors aren't that competent with their skills or even that productive, though I wouldn't mind going with one of the suggestion I got above, saying that it's important to look at the result of a trading mentor before choosing them because most times we might see them as people who are make progress but deep down they are losing, but most of them are solely interested of what they could gain from their trainees.
-
I don't believe in this concept at all, if we are talking about financial advisor or mentor for choosing the assets for long term investments then I know people who guide people in the right ay but everyone who claim as trading mentors just give fake promises because no one can predict the market that makes their job obsolete, unless they teach them skills like TA or concept of entering and exiting at the right time.

Choosing a trading mentor has a lot to do with his consistency in winning and also how well he can analyze the market and wait for his trades to reach take profits. A lot of traders are showing off online with big lifestyles but are not good traders, they scalp with huge amount of money and then show their big lifestyles online because that’s what will give them students to mentor, they have to convince them with their flamboyant lifestyle before they will believe they make good money from trading.
Choosing the best trading mentor is important for a trader, because that will determine how soon you’ll become profitable. If you miss out on this and chosed the wrong person, there are chances that you’ll only be scalping to win trades and not actually have the mindset to believe in your analysis and hold trades till take profits level. Many are showing online to be traders but only few can actually trade well.
-
When I first learned to trade, I often asked my own friends about trading. However, because it turned out that the answers were not always correct, I finally chose to learn by myself. And I think that learning by myself will be better, because our individual experience and knowledge will increase. And that is certainly very good in the future, so that our mentality is more prepared to continue trading in all conditions.

Smiles..
People calls themselves trader but are traders just as you said they are living a flamboyant lifestyle just to enticed and attract people to themselves while they focused on what they would have from their students or their mentee but dig down there they are living a fake life style to favor them to help get more people to themselves.
Choosing a trading mentor is something very important to anyone who must be successful in the industry but most time there are people who go for self studies, learning things on their own to become whomever they are today through the help of online search and YouTube videos.

I understand your perspective but that might not be right because a mentor cannot go out to look for people they would mentor but instead they wait for people to come to them because for them to choose means that they would go in search of people and the question is that how would they no the people that want trading, so that being said there are criteria somebody needs from a mentor because the name doesn't justify there ability or there experiences but what is on their brain is what the person want so thorough examination should be done on such person before making it your mentor.

I have multiple trading mentor, news mentor, and different mentor for different things, I learn different things from them and try to use them for my own benefit although it is very risky because sometimes I end up following nothing haha or sometimes make lose.
Speaking of trading mentors, I made lose from one if, I don't trade in their trade second time, but there was this one mentor I followed for very long, I read their long messages, they give good analysis of the market, but they were selling premium things too.
Point is with good company we can learn alot, finding one is difficult, knowledge is more important here not profit or trades.

To choose a trading mentor, it is necessary to see how many years of experience he has in trading. It is not a good decision to choose a trading mentor only by looking at PNL. Many people can make good profits in a short time but cannot maintain those profits for a long time. Therefore, all those traders should be taken as mentors. At least you can get honest advice from them. It is very difficult to succeed in trading, so it is important to take advice from experienced traders first.
-

We also realise that not all people or things around us that we interact with on the exterior are worthy to be a learning institution. Thus, the idea of selecting a mentor is different that is not chosen based on the majority voices or famous personality. One should not encourage students to approach a mentor, but the few who really require the mentor’s help should be the ones to come over. This reveals exhibit the extent that the learner is serious and willing to accept any form of assistance. In other words, it is necessary to provide fundamental common sense and careful approach in an intent to get to know the person more profoundly before we can entrust his or her with the learning process. This is because the person to choose a mentor whose input will greatly affect or approach to the field in which we are involved in.

I once had a trading mentor, actually at that time because I entered the VIP signal trading group. and I could consult about some things related to trading and price possibilities. but it was not as easy as I thought because in fact it was really complicated. and finally I gave up.
The point is when we have a trading mentor, whoever it is, it must be balanced with our willingness and ability to follow it. because if we are not enthusiastic enough and complain about the journey that exists, it will not be successful. if we do not want to learn seriously, it will fail.
-

This is correct and I agree with it, because if the individual is not really enthusiastic about learning cryptocurrency, they will not take long to learn crypto trading. We all know that trading is not easy to learn and many agree with this.
Many people just enter crypto trading to make money, thinking that they can only get it through luck, which is not true. So meaning, making a profit in trading
must involve serious study.

Choosing to have a mentor is a great idea. It's most likely how you are aligned with a person. If you see a trader you resonate with so much, having that and being in contact is best. You should be aligned if that person is also open to having a mentee.
How is the mentor, OP, hunted?
-
I don't have a permanent mentor, but I try to learn and try to apply it to my trading, sometimes there are some that are suitable and provide benefits at that time, and there are also some that are miscalculated, all of them are used as experiences of loss, defeat is the best meter to become a good trader

I don't really know what you actually meant by not having a permanent mentor but switching mentors time to time will have a lot of disadvantages cause you won’t be able to stick to one strategy or analysis, you will just keep on changing time to time and later on left with nothing. Cause there won’t be any specific strategy that you think will work well for you and you will learn more about it just changing and changing strategy and you won’t have a specific outcome. But in my opinion sticking to one strategy and mentor is really a perfect idea cause you will stick to the mentors strategy and when it doesn’t work on you then you can try change mentors cause every mentor has their own knowledge of understanding in the market and how they make big bags from the market.
But I’m not opposing your opinion just little advice but if the switching of mentors works fine with you then you can keep the good work going after all you are learning different ways of knowledge and strategy to understand the market and make profitable entry’s. Everyone has what suits them just an opinion though.

if you wanted to have a mentor in the first place that should mean that you have enough motivation and determination to learn because not only will you be wasting your own time but also your mentor’s time
some people literally pay for their mentors so if you are going to find a mentor just to have your mind not sure yet then that will just be a waste of time and resources

Why would someone hire a mentor and pay them money if they are not willing to learn or grow? That's childish and only those who are forced to do something by others can do that, just like how children don't pay attention to studies even if parents hire private tutors to come home and teach them but it's because their parents are paying for it and they don't care at that age because they don't value money and they are too young.
Someone who is a grown-up and has their own money would never hire a mentor, pay them from their pocket, and then have their mind not ready to learn what they hired a mentor for. It's a different thing if the mentor you hired isn't doing a good job and you are not getting anything because of their way of teaching or guiding you. In that case, you will surely need to change the mentor.

Choosing to learn with a help of a mentor means bringing a lot of passion and responsibility into the process. It is not just for help we look for for it is their time, energy and experiences they are willing to contribute. In a way, there is a great responsibility when giving guidance that is given to us in such a favourable manner and, of course, it is a sign of our attitudes not to waste such trust. Especially when there is a professional relationship that involves money, it underlines the fact that we are not toying with this path. If an effort is not done wholeheartedly then what is lost is not just the money but more significantly, the very idea and concept of learning.

Exactly. Having a trading mentor is not enough requirement to becoming successful in your tradings but you must have enough enthusiasm and total willingness to follow his guidelines in your trading activities. That way, you'll be able to gain from the rich trading knowledge of your mentor. For you to be successful in trading, you must show total commitment in your tradings and one of the ways to show commitment is to follow every instruction of your mentor

And because he has enough experience in trading, you really need to follow him so that you don't lose your funds and your emotions will not get ruined. But not all mentors are truly profitable, so you should make sure that they are actually making money from trading, not from mentoring.

The point is when we have a trading mentor, whoever it is, it must be balanced with our willingness and ability to follow it. because if we are not enthusiastic enough and complain about the journey that exists, it will not be successful. if we do not want to learn seriously, it will fail.
Exactly. Having a trading mentor is not enough requirement to becoming successful in your tradings but you must have enough enthusiasm and total willingness to follow his guidelines in your trading activities. That way, you'll be able to gain from the rich trading knowledge of your mentor. I totally agreed with you trying to chose a mentor will be tough sometimes and some mentor ain’t profitable some will be profitable on mentorship but in the market field they are dumb and they make a lot of loss and failure that won’t even grow the student or apprentice.
Some mentor are really not profitable they earn and grow their capital through apprentice and the student will end up in emotional pain and discomfort, be very careful of who you choose as a mentor and make sure you know a lot about him and how is trading pro folio is going either profits or loss.

I don't have a permanent mentor, but I try to learn and try to apply it to my trading, sometimes there are some that are suitable and provide benefits at that time, and there are also some that are miscalculated, all of them are used as experiences of loss, defeat is the best meter to become a good trader
Most crypto investors don't have a personal mentor, we come to crypto and learn on our own through YouTube and crypto forums. Luckily, all the information is readily available on the internet now, and if traders want to, they can access it and gain knowledge.
I also don't have a personal mentor, I became my own mentor, but honestly, my crypto investing journey hasn't been smooth, and I've missed many opportunities despite knowing about this market very early on. If I could choose again, I would have looked for a Forex trading expert to learn technical analysis skills, psychology management, and capital management back in 2017!

When it comes on choosing up a mentor then the primary thing that you do need up to look for is into its profitability. You wont be that trying out to check other qualities as well as long you do see him/her to be that profitable then this what matter the most because this will be the primary concern when we are trying out ot look for mentorship on which on how profitable your guru would be.
On next then you will be searching about on how well they do teaches up their strategies and on how he would be handling up his followers on which we know that each mentor does have that different approach into its students on which some are that too non caring at all as long they do be able to earn up some subs fees and also be careful when it comes into those fake ones.

This is correct and I agree with it, because if the individual is not really enthusiastic about learning cryptocurrency, they will not take long to learn crypto trading. We all know that trading is not easy to learn and many agree with this.
Because indeed the risk is that high to do trading. especially if there is no preparation before doing trading. without it, we will really be gambling that is not directed. and of course it will be very detrimental to us. in fact this is very dangerous because without knowledge and broad understanding too, then it will increasingly make its own target in setting the price to achieve. So, be sure, understanding and knowledge is very important to have before doing trading crypto, jcz we won't do it blindly, surely.

If you invest to the cryptocurrency market without proper knowledge and skills then for making money fast, it is like driving a car at high speed on the ice with the non-functioning brakes. Some people believe that success in the trading business depends on the result of luck, when actually traders work very patiently and try to have a tight control on their emotions. I believe you can reason it out by yourself, the more that someone runs, the higher the chances of making an error. Therefore, do not make a rightful decision on buying or selling an asset without a second thought. What you can learn, take notes, or even watch can as be more valuable as any random transaction. Your money is not a test bed. That way, if the market is unpredictable, you will be solid because you understood why you undertook each step.
