In less than an hour while VPN was off, Microsoft sent 3 totally different messages to get user to activate GPS

So, dear Microsoft, who exactly wants to activate the GPS?

I really don't understand why these apps actually need to access users' geographic locations. Of course, they claim it's for pricing and other offers, but no one really knows how this sensitive information is used.
Personally, I disable GPS and the Maps app on Windows and on my mobile device because I don't use or need these services, especially since some apps block me based on my geographic location. Therefore, the best solution is to disable these services.

Always the same story... The GPS that Windows wants to enable at all costs is so that Microsoft and its friends can continue to learn more about their users' habits. That's nothing new. What I will never understand is why users of that operating system (and other brands of products) don't care. I guess it's for "convenience" and so I don't have to learn new things. It seems that privacy is not a priority for these users.
I still think the same as many years ago, the only good thing Microsoft did was Xenix and then the first MS-DOS. Everything else has been an insult to their customers decade after decade.

This data is extremely valuable to companies like Google, Microsoft, and Apple, for example. If you want to learn more about the importance of this data and how it's processed, you can read this article. It's a 2018 report, but it's still completely relevant.

I didn't realize we have a Privacy Forum. :o
The problem is that even if you click the No button, there's no guarantee they'll be able to access these permissions without your consent.
So, it might be best to physically disconnect these components from the device.

Thank you for this very valuable article. I actually had general information, but this article provides detailed information about how Google collects personal data from Android or Google Chrome.
What surprised me was that Google continues to collect information even when the Android device is idle, using the Google Chrome browser running in the background without the user's knowledge. This is truly shameful for a large company like Google to violate user privacy, especially given that Google has a large list of services that reach more than two billion users worldwide.

i was reflecting on this point, is it possible that all these services actually request access to location, but the fact that there was vpn, this functionality was off, and once vpn was down they all rushed to ask access ?

I did a little research on the topic and found that it's a new improvement in Windows 24H2. You can find it here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/whats-new/whats-new-windows-11-version-24h2#windows-location-improvements
In short, all of these apps were accessing location data without permission, and now they're forced to request permission (which means they can access your location without granting the required permissions).
There are some services that spoof your location, but I prefer to remove it physically.
