While on the one one government is having a climb down ibad actors in the cryptocurrency space within naija and making a general statement that affects the legit cryptocurrency users like ourselves.

This news recent crypto exchnage approvals by the sec and all the progress that have been made as regards to cryptocurrency within Nigeria this gives alot of sense to discuss as to how far the development have gone within thos time.

I actually came across that news online about the Nigeria sec approving of crypto in Nigeria, saying that all exchanges ar now allowed to operate between Nigeria borders. Though the statement wasn't surprising a bit as Nigerians have always traded crypto with or without the approval of the government, I still feel that we should be concerned about it. The higher ups makes decisions sometimes when they know clearly that most Nigerians doesn't care about their opinion. They claim to be crypto friendly but then many time we've seen how they attack Nigerians over it.

I feel is a way for them to start knowing people who are into cryptocurrency in the country through bank deposit to exchanges because they would definitely alert banks to allow people to use it as the way they were doing it before so that by the time another policy is being introduced then it became easier for them, so actually on that note even if they ask everybody to be using the deposit method I cannot do it because there might be an unforseen circumstances in the future.

I think the government is up to something because, from the onset, they have always had issues with crypto enthusiasts and traders coupled with CEX as well, all in the name of raking in tax and other benefits due them. I would not be surprised if the government would tell the bank to allow their customers to do direct crypto trading to take statistics of the overall crypto traders in the country so they could begin their dirty work.

Using direct transfer from any CEX would be the last thing I would ever do because the moment you do that, the bank already knows and would take record of your transactions, waiting for the government to come after you. It is better to stick to p2p than to get yourself entangled in such a situation.

   For real brother.
I still dont seem to understand why the Nigerian government are so uninterested on crypto affairs.Developed countries like America and the rest of them seem to be very interested in it’s (crypto) dealings but our government does the direct opposite for reasons i dont seem to understand till now.
Transactions of funds made with the description of crypto from out local banks and the rest of them would be seized or withheld by these firms. It’s almost as if the government is against us winning for real.
I hope by the next election; a good president would be voted for; someone who puts crypto to mind just like other good presidents. We sef don tire!

Obviously, those guys are up to something, and the only thing I can say is that the Nigerian crypto community should be wise and smart not to allow them get at them. Avoid direct bank transactions for crypto because if dealing directly, the crypto exchange would definitely have an indicator for the bank to know the nature of the transaction without you knowing because you are trading with their indicator compared with p2p, which requires the vendor to pay from their back then you release the coin. So it is better we act smart than be caught in the web.

You suppose done see or read about amm by now na, because the local exchange licensing made a lot of waves on the internet I'm the heat of the cryptocurrency climb down when most and all exchanges were forced to close their naira p2p window, some few p2p cryptocurrency exchanges were licensed to operate after paying a huge amount to get the license approvals and to meet the criteria to operate a centralized p2p exchange.

Well to be sincere I no really understand how 9ja people dey take run their own things because this could be like something they want to pull out companies to settle back to Nigeria such as Binance, and other few exchanges. And again, I don't know if this could have effects towards the users because if they says that the first thing to do is remove the restrictions they placed in cryptocurrency trading and transactions.

Nigeria government has confirmed cryptocurrency to be security and for that reason crypto is fully legal in Nigeria. No need to dey fear again say government go arrest you say you dey into crypto. However, the have also said that they will be taxing the cryptospace, so any form of tax wey you see for exchanges now, just pay without complain. This is what they should have done and regulated since the onset.

If this was a country with a system that was working then I would have been a little relieved after reading your post but the fact that the system isn’t working makes that very difficult to accept.

Even with this news, you’ll still see those military personnel stopping people and harassing them for being engaged in crypto - claiming that they are scammers; I know that this is a bit different from the topic at hand but I feel it’s important to mention it since it’s the government negligence that gave more power to this so called law enforcement agencies who were supposed to have the interest of the public safety in mind.

That's why in whatever crypto activities that you are engaged in, you should pipe low to aviod waste of time by these people because if you lose guard and allow tjem to start interrogation, you don't know where it will lead you to. This country police are too corrupt that they go against the law. If not, if you carry them go court, you go win the case since government don approve am.

Cryptocurrency would have been a good thing for them to make money. That Enaira app would have been link to cryptocurrency as government own exchange wey bi say dem go take tax from transactions like the way other exchanges dey do but them dey fight against cryptocurrency through the exchange. No be this government because the government hate cryptocurrency. Even now some people still dey fear say government go arrest them if them come out with their crypto business.

Na true you talk sha. People still dey fear to talk about crypto because this government can never be trusted. Today dem go talk another thing, tomorrow dem go talk another one wey go contradict themselves causing confusion everywhere and dem go dey take advantage of am dey harrass citizens under say dem go against laws wey contradict themselves and dem still approve such laws to dey exist.

As for the enaira, that one for be a good starting and entering point for the government into the cryptocurrency world but them mess up the whole thing, and secondly, the citizens were sceptical about the whole process and were afraid because nothing wey the government do like that wey dey last long and truly the enaira no see the light of the day because nobody believe in the process that brought it in.

Whether the accept the legal use of Bitcoin within the country or not, we have been using the system, and their new rules has no effect on us. Their rules have never had any positive effect on its citizens from time, and with or without their permission, it has nothing to do for or against us.

Their acts to the citizen who has used the crypto currency and those who has no idea about it has never been friendly but seeing those who use it anyways are surviving with it, they decided to turn friendly about it. I see this as another means of stealing from the country's treasury, as it has always been their method. If they can sincerely make proper use of this technology, we could see betterment in the economy.

In fact, the Nigerian crypto market can be described as highly volatile since it has been exposed to many setbacks primarily resulting from the government’s unpredictable policies. Preliminary shift in attitude towards crypto and then launching E-Naira created more confusion. Naturally, those who are accustomed to the governmental type of thinking may have an impression that the government is always up to something else besides supporting crypto. This particular feature may, however, prompt the public to be extremely cautious when it comes to investing policies or any policies that are still in their developmental stages concerning the operational models that they will use for crypto and other similarly secured financial processes.

It may not seem like much but it matters regardless. It's a good thing you can fight publicly for your crypto say if something bad happens for instance. It's unlike if it's not approved and you have to either keep shut or do things on a low key.
Banning crypto in Nigeria really won't make the Naira to appreciate directly but it's probably what the government thinks even if they may know it doesn't work that way.

Na just d simple truth be dat. Awa govment wan use poverty hold d masses down and na why dem nor dey like us enjoy or get access to anything wey go liberate d people from poverty. Cryptos dey free people financially. As we dey here we know how much wey dey enta awa kolo every week. How many people out there fit make wetin we dey make here without connection for d kontry? As you dey like dis, e go hard make politicians fit convince you to take those stupid money wey dem dey share for campaign grounds and d reason be sey you fit afford am on ur own. Anything that has to do with government decision and implementation, we already know that such is what may take time, and if its what we really want to have as we have expected, then we may not be able to tarry any longer on waiting for them, since we have our own right and freedom in choosing between what we want and ho we wanted to have it, cryptocurrency is not what we may have to wait on them to adopt if we want the change, then we have to go for it with bitcoin and use it independently.

Honestly the Nigerian government isn't really helping matters. The wealth of a country is also very dependent on not only the economy but also the wealth of its citizens too. You can't expect a poor economic enablement to spring up revenue.

Cryptocurrency adoption is actually one thing that can assist in economic growth but I still don't fully understand why our leaders fail to see it. They blame it on the devaluation of Naira instead.

Yeah it's Definitely a relief unlike if crypto isn't still supported in the country. It's saddening to see that the government is still not helping matters and upon that they are still obstructing the possible liberations in terms of finances the people have.

Another thing is that hopefully they don't make things difficult by implementing some sort of useless tx in compensation for it because it wouldn't really make much difference.

That just my prayer also cause the government body can do anything in their power to bring that sort of law cause they know there are a lot of money on the digital market and they now traders and investors earn huge amount of money each day so we just hope the government those not make things difficult for us. But the news was a very exciting one cause I felt relieved and happy when I came across the news on twitter and telegram also. We just hope for the betterment of the country and the government body’s and also the citizens in total.
