What makes this a fascinating bout is their fathers were professional boxers that had fights for the middleweight and super middleweight titles in 1990 and 1993. The same way their fathers had a dislike of each other, these two also dislike each other.

They were supposed to fight two years ago but Benn failed a drugs test and banned. Subsequently he was cleared by the authorities stating they were not satisfied he did anything wrong (effectively stating he was innocent).

They will contest the fight at middleweight with Benn having to move up two weight divisions therefore Eubank Jr should be favourite to win because of his size and reach but Benn has had 23 fights and won all of them whereas Eubank Jr has had 37 fights and lost 3.

There was a brawl in the face off as Chris Eubank slap Connor Benn with a egg in the face. So this makes the fight really personal between the two.

So I expect that this fight is going to be exciting but Eubank could be took big for Connor Benn here.

I was disappointed with Eubank Jr. Using an egg (of all things to attack an opponent when he was least expecting it) was not a sign of a boxer behaving professionally. If anything, it could be a sign of him being scared of losing the fight. Regardless of how the fight ends, this will be talked about for years.

I do agree though, it's one of the worse that we have seen in years, this kind of stunt might not sit with boxing fans and I don't think it will create a new hype on this fight.

They've have history already with their father and so that is enough I guess, no need to stoop this low and crack a egg just to get the attention for their fight.

There was enough hype surrounding the fight without the drama that day. If Eubank Jr thought his conduct would be viewed positively, he was mistaken. He set a bad example to others, it not unacceptable conduct. I read somewhere that he received £100,000 fine by the boxing authorities for what he did.

It is a fight many commentators and spectators are looking forward to but there seems to be a lack of enthusiasm within the forum. Are they not many boxing fans that would like to express their views on the fight?

Considering the history of animosity between the fathers of Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn as well as the incident where Eubank Jr used an eggs to hit Benn with, I think this will be a memorable fight.

It's because they might not be familiar with the history behind this fight. But for those who have followed boxing since 90's yeah, this could be historic fight.

Or maybe it was just for the Brits that knows this fight. Or perhaps we should give them a background?

Another aspect could be that there has not been a huge amount of media coverage as it is not on the same lines as for example a Fury vs Usyk fight. I think the egg incident probably put more people off rather than make them excited for the fight.

Yes, that incident could have back fired, as fans might have lost their interest here.

But for those who really knows the history behind this names, still very interested to see this fight and just like what someone says, the history behind it. And perhaps only the Brits really knows what is this fight mean to both fighters.

I think there is enough media coverage on this fight. The thing is that there is no hype surrounding them, they have their last name to carry, but for casual fans it's not enough.

So I do agree that it could be just the Brits who are all hype, as this is a domestic rivalry going back to their Father.

Seems that is the selling poit of this match and probably what promotors will tell them to make some noise. This isn't new to the boxing or combat sports industry. Though that could also be an intimidation tool for that guy to leave emotional and psychological stress to his opponent. But yeah this could be an interesting fight.

this makes the fight even more exciting, no? when there’s this kind of “drama” and tension before even the fight the disrespect shown here would be something they need to prove on the ring as well lest they look stupid

i think they are evenly matched but there’s more people believing in eubank jr and less in conor benn

I am not familiar with the names but it seem fun to see how personal the fight can go. Looks like the fight will continue to the generations to come. I wonder if their fathers going to be in the ring side coaching their sons on what to do.

This will really burst the flames after the bout when two fathers confronts each which the might may demand a rematch also. Would you categorize this fight like an exhibition of Jake Paul?

Fans might have lost interest in the fight after that incident, however I am sure the majority of those would prefer Benn to win. I think what Eubank Jr did portrayed a very bad example especially to the youth.

Well, if there are some fans abandoning the fight because Eubank Jr did something unacceptable it is possible that others have become aware of the fight because of that incident.

This what separates "professional" boxer to Jake Paul as the latter is just for pure entertainment.

@JollyGood - yeah, for sure the majority loves to see Benn winning here, and who knows, maybe Benn can still this one and then we will talk about that incident and then rematch.

This happens to be one of those rare fights where there is a lot of pride and reputation on the line (way beyond the norm because of their respective fathers) therefore a single one-off fight is the best option rather than prolong the animosity.

Unless the fight ends in a draw, I certainly hope there will be no mention of a rematch. Even if the fight ends in a draw, I hope the two do not have a rematch.

Very entertaining fight, but Eubank Jr is really too big for Benn here. You can see that at least Eubank Jr is two weight class above Benn and with that, he just dominated the fight.

There is a rematch clause though, so for sure Benn might exercise it but the result might be the same as again, he is too small . On the meantime though, Canelo is watching and probably Eubank could be next for him.

Benn stated after the fight he wanted rematch, if Eubank wants to avoid it he will. I think he will be confident he can beat Benn again therefore we will see them in the ring again. The television commentator scorecard had Benn ahead, the fight was a lot closer than people probably expected.
