Airdrops used to be easy money back in 2021,u just needed to follow a few socials, drop your wallet, and boom, tokens. But in 2025, things are a bit different. I've been hunting airdrops again over the past few weeks, and I have noticed that it is still kind of free money even though uour time and data subscription is still invested it has its upside and down side, the upside being Some projects actually pay well—especially if you catch them early or complete all the tasks.
Loyalty Rewards Are Back: Ecosystems like zkSync and LayerZero are rewarding long-term users more, not just social taskers.
Airdrop Communities Are Stronger: People now share alpha fast on Telegram, Discord, and forums like this.
While the down side is that many are time wasters: Some airdrops don’t launch or never distribute. You end up shilling for nothing.
KYC & Spam Risk: Some sketchy ones now require KYC or make you jump through 100 spammy hoops.
Bot-Detection Is Stricter: You can get disqualified for small mistakes like mismatched handles or not using the right wallet.
Tips I Follow:
I focus on ecosystem participation (testnets, bridging, trading) more than just social tasks.
I always check if the team is doxxed or if they have a history of legit launches.
I avoid any airdrop that asks for too much personal info or upfront payment.

I don't think I have any experience with airdrops so far since the start of this year. Airdrops haven't crossed my mind. I don't know whether something of such exists in the crypto space apart from accumulating Bitcoin and top altcoins at low prices.
However, airdrops that's where I have fewer thoughts to consider doing because of how people are not rewarded with shitcoins to hodl

I am sure that there are people who have profited from airdrops this year, but my personal view on it is that there are many opportunities in cryptocurrency for you to only be focused on airdrops.
People who chase airdrops without thinking of investments like free things too much.

That's incorrect, what you say was more prevalent during 2017—'18. By 2021, airdrops were already gone retroactive and you had to be an early user of the platform to be rewarded.

Since about a year I stopped doing airdrops. I still get eligible for some airdrops due to my wallet's history but nothing significant.

well its just that getting involved with airdrops or participating in airdrops is one of the easy way back then and i am positive about this because i have participated in some telegram bot airdrops like dogs which was the best and catizen and others when they were legit and profitable and i actually profited from it alot and it was about the airdrop at first but then it opened my eyes to different opportunities like knowing about cryptocurrency about wallets and exchange apps [like bitget bybit and binance], acquiring knowledge on how to navigate them, knowing about the onchain adresses used to recieve my earned coins and how to sell or buy them on spot market then i realized that there was futures market where i could mazimize my profit but also increase my risk and i had to go study on how to use it efficiently and also getting to know that strategys exist which lead me to trading.
so to me it wasnt just about the airdrop being easy or free money even though i expect that when i do a work or make them popular by sharing them on social networks i need to be compensated for it, i didnt do airdrops to become rich from it was just exploring but am grateful it opened my eyes to more opportunities.
Did you earn or lose in the airdrops you participated in or did it also did wonders for you like it did me???

i have seen some projects but it seems like there really has been not much trendy projects that has caused some hype and noise around social media or if there were any it was only for a very brief moment of time and nothing that seemed profitable enough i really think that people have lost interest in airdrops after last year where a lot of the efforts have gone to waste

Airdrops did exist and it was wonderful when everything was done right and u get paid the coins u earned but right now most of them are scams and you will even lose because of the payment they will ask for inorder for them to process your withdrawal and they wont even say anything about it untill its time to claim them they come up with all possible ways to make your earnings or points become as useless as it can be by eitheer dividing it or locking some up or requesting for gas fee which doesnt make sense , that is why it is important to make due research before getting involved in one right now.but getting crypto low and selling when it high is not as easy as its made out to be and people should always acquire knowledge of it before starting because i belive everyone should be more eager to conserve their capital than they are to make profit because its easier to lose than to profit with little or no knowledge in the crypto space so trade wisely .

Airdrops are not a viable topic for 2025 and if you choice airdrops this year then you will waste your time. Because in 2024 everyone earned more or less $200-250 from dogs airdrops and based on this everyone wasted time chasing airdrops throughout the year. On the other hand, people have been cheated repeatedly from Telegram gaming airdrops, which is why people stay away from Telegram today. I have nothing to do with airdrops this year but I am excited to sell paws tokens that I received as rewards from the Telegram airdrop.
-
The booming days of Airdrops has gone and now nobody is inconveniencing themselves for it, just as you have said those days it somehow pays but not longer now, I have benefited then with the one a participated but now is very clear that those things are not working too well because of the scam on crypto industry, so there is no need to hope on Airdrop. However I heard Testnet are the ones people are giving their attention on.

Before, airdrops were nice you do some small tasks and get real tokens. But now, most are just scams. They don’t tell you about gas fees or payments until you want to withdraw, then they bring up all kinds of problems. Sometimes they even lock your coins or reduce them. That’s why it’s good to check well before joining any airdrop now. Also, buying low and selling high sounds easy, but it’s not. If you don’t understand crypto well, you can lose money fast. It’s better to be careful and protect your money first before trying to make profit.

This is so real, this is the type of experience I have had with airdrops this year and these are the type of responses I get when I ask everyone about airdrop, so mostly airdrop is not a viable option anymore but there are other ways out there am sure and I would like us to share other ways so we can learn and grow together which is one of the aim and objectives of this forum.

Airdrops doesn’t give rewards that much compared to the past few years but there are few that are still worth it mainly those in testnet phases. I know people who made substantial rewards from airdrops this year even though I didn’t participated. Many still participate in airdrops though basically as a side earnings.
-
Thank you for your input and these online earnings are better than just sitting because the economy is becoming something else and it's every man for himself and these go a long way and believe me a smart person saving up might be able to start something tangible with it.

Of course, if you want then you can participate in some airdrops, which will be considered as your side income. I think the online world should be considered as a second source of income. Because you cannot earn money here with 100% trust, so you have to be engaged in some other business or job to manage your life. Because airdrops will disappoint you again and again, just like we were disappointed with a lot of airdrops in 2024.
-
As I always say, the era of bounty and airdrops ended in 2019 itself and from that we have only very few airdrops that actually rewarded real money in terms of numbers. We have more opprtunities to make money than just airdrops in these days but if that's specific need then I suggest to have other source of income because airdrops are highly uncertain and often disappoint at the end.

For some weeks now, there has been a lot of wallet drainer complain, I think people need to be careful with the kind of airdrop they participate, some many airdrops nowadays are wallet drainer with bots that poison your wallet and take away everything from your wallet address. If uiubar focus on airdrop, caution need to be taken.
There is something I have observe about airdrop, many of them find it difficult to do 500m market cap unlike then when you get to see even telegram projects do 500m but now, they can't maintain ordinary 200m and that's tells you about the interests of new projects.

Yeah airdrops nowadays is about them becoming rich and fill their pockets while the people that engage with the projects and made them popular and rich are left with dus or even lossess because of some so called gas fee,the glorious days of airdrops are over.
-
I have participated in Airdrops that were very profitable in the market at the time (2017/2018). Nowadays, it pays off if you participate in a project and receive Airdrops from other projects, as happens a lot in the TON ecosystem, or even in exchange promotions, such as Binance and Bitget do (I participated in some).

If looking for free in 2025 for airdrops is already difficult to find, all require funds for daily check-ins, even boosting their groups/channels, indeed 2021 can be said to be the end of simple airdrops, maybe I'm not a consistent airdrop fighter, sometimes I'm only enthusiastic at the beginning and stop when there are too many tasks and it's possible to spend funds up front, it can be said that I really avoid retrodrops. It seems that in 2025 the trend is mostly airdrop nodes
-
...sometimes I'm only enthusiastic at the beginning and stop when there are too many tasks and it's possible to spend funds up front...
I used to do same, I'd start with a project but they'd keep bringing more tasks for users without giving anything concrete about rewards then I'd assume that project is farming users and I'd leave it.

Most of airdrops now had already this kind of social media tasks on which they've been asking out tons of following, liking, commenting and repost or whatever but in the end of the day, you do end up on getting nothing or being that ineligible in the end on which it do really sucks big time after all the things that you've done. The only time on which i do considered out on where people been famred out is on the time that these projects that connects out with games on which accumulating points is their main criteria on which you do need up to invest or buy up someone to maximize points on which i do say that these scam devs are just trying out to milk those people who do really believe that they can make money at the end when the project ends and distribute those airdropped tokens.

Currently, there is no value in airdrops. No project pays well. And most of them are scams. Today, the payment has been paid in batches, everyone here has received an average of one dollar. So working on airdrops is a complete waste of time. I myself do not work on them anymore and I do not advise anyone to do so. Because they will never be worth the time. And they are not professional work. So Airdrop should be avoided for now.

There is nothing special about airdrops anymore especially those ones that are linked to the TON ecosystem. They took advantage of newbies into the space through the telegram based tap bots and never did they compensate those people well, so many people who just got into the crypto space newly lost interest and thought that was the only way to make money from crypto. That was their first impression of what crypto is and since they were not compensated well, they lost interest and would discourage others that which to join through them not to get involved. Talking about airdrops on a wider note, they need to be able to know what airdrops do go well and have better expectations on. I really love Depin projects and despite the airdrop space getting saturated, one can still find a way to meet good projects that pay well.
-
The crypto industry is so big that one can be able to get something meaningful out of it, there are lots of engagements that one could get themselves in that would generate income for them if they are really committed to their work, compared to airdrops. Gone are the days when an airdrop is what it used to be. These days, there are lots of scams out there disguised in the form of airdrops to rip investors, and in the end, they abscond, leaving the airdrop participants with no pay.
These days, projects just exploit airdropers to make sure they do the dirty work for them, to the point that they demand gas fees, donation,s etc, which is not normal to do but yet some people still fall for them, and in the end, they get dust and peanuts for a rewards after spending tangible amount of money for the project.

Actually, for social media tasks, I think it's not a problem, if it's only once like when I first got to know about airdrops, but now there are too many tasks, even if the airdrop has a game that takes up a lot of time where we are required to level up, top up, and even more, and when the results are distributed, they are not optimal, even 95% are at a loss

This airdrop scam is now everywhere and people are becoming more aware about it and weary of it, most people are leaning towards trading which is good but should be threaded carefully.

Many people that have been introduced to airdrops especially last year, they think that most airdrops are just tapping and clicking. No they are not and also the projects like grass where you just run the app on the browser. I agree with OP that testnets and bridging are the good ones because there is an actual platform for these projects where you'll receive the airdrop from them if lucky that they have become successful.
-
Airdrops has changed significantly over the years while they still can be a source of free money the process has become more complex. While some projects offers substantial reward for early participants or these who completed all tasks. Many airdrops requires significant time investment without guaranteed rewards. Some airdrops may even require KYC verification or involve spammy task. There nothing special about airdrops anymore especially the one associated with TON ecosystem.

Airdrop was only a source of free income at the time, but nowadays Airdrops are managed in a way where money needs to be spent. But the amount of money spent there is not enough profit return. So Airdrop is no longer used as a source of free money income, it has now become just a place to waste time and money. Instead of wasting your valuable time in Airdrop, you should use that time for some other good purpose. At least this can be a proper use of time.

I tried to join in different airdrops, but I'm the type of participant that doesn't have the patience to wait 8-12 months just to get a few bucks. I can still remember when Berachain required us to make testnet transactions for months. I started in February 2024, and it took months or nearly a year before they launched their token. I didn't regret for stopping because I don't know if that will be a waste of time or not at that time.
Anyway, as somebody that considered lazy when it comes to airdrop participation, I'd rather choose airdrops that requires us to become a liquidity provider in order to get some points that will give us the tokens through airdrop. Social task isn't worth it anymore because it's easy to do that anybody can do it hence, lowering the rewards. As for testnets, I'm trying, but as of this moment, I don't want to.
As for hidden gems, I haven't found anything aside from the Celestia and Dymension airdrop way back 1-2 years ago. Berachain is supposed to be the next one, but I'm lazy. :D

In the past, many participants really made good money from many projects doing airdrops and bounties but these days it can be so difficult to experience the same even if there is no let-up in new projects coming in. One factor is that there are now millions who are doing the same thing and so the project will eventually give away breadcrumbs not worth of the time, effort and even some money invested. I am not anymore as active as I used to be and I am getting discouraged especially with TON-based projects. Oh well, am convinced that we are not going back anymore to the golden era and so maybe it is time to move on and limit our involvement in here.
-

This is it. There are plenty farmers that makes everyone's piece of pie less. There is Zora airdrop recently, people farmed it heavily, including running their node and minting nfts by paying real money and in the end that airdrop gave peanuts.

it's frustrating when completing task for airdrops doesn't yield expected results. Some projects may indeed be design to exploit enthusiasm rather than deliver value. Lack of transparency and unclear criteria for eligibility and rewards taking advantage of user efforts without providing fair compensation.

Therefore, if you do tend to deal up with bounty hunting then you should be that prepared about this scenario on which i could say that it is very common considering the failure rate is high in compared into those projects that do able to succeed and paid up their bounty participants. If you've been bounty dealing for a while then pretty sure that you had made out yourself that being aware about the probabilities. There are just that those moments or times that you've been that too positive on a certain project and optimistic about its success but ended up on having no rewards just because the project had failed or simply the developers didnt want to paid up or simply they turned out to be a scam. Tons of similar situation do happen and thats why you should prepare yourself into this one.

I have been through all that you mentioned, sometimes sucesss and sometimes failure that's what bounty/airdrop hunting is, if you can manage to pick yourself up after failures then you might get gem every once in a while and that one makes it all worth it.

Airdrops used to be easy, but now they take more effort. Some still pay well if you catch them early, but a lot end up being a waste of time. Many require too much personal info or money, and some never even launch.

I am sure that there are people who have profited from airdrops this year, but my personal view on it is that there are many opportunities in cryptocurrency for you to only be focused on airdrops.
People who chase airdrops without thinking of investments like free things too much.
That is humans for you, people find it hard to spend on something that will change their lives for good or invest in it, they always want it to be free, which is why many always fall in to the hands of scammers because of free things and some people will know that doing airdrops will be a waste of time and energy, yet they won't invest their time and energy to what is relevant or useful to them and this kind of people can not empower or improve themselves in life.
-

Just a few hours ago, I got some airdropped tokens from MILK.
Is it worth it? Not at all at least on my part because I lend a certain amount of money (liquidity pool) to earn points and in the end, I earned pure dust.
It was very easy to earn a few years ago, but right now, there are many who are participating in these airdrops and the more that are participating, the lower the potential rewards that you can get. Nowadays, if you want to earn more tokens, you need to either deposit some money (liquidity pool), do some social tasks, or buy some NFT that's related to the project.
Overall, I will not say that ALL of the airdrops aren't worth this year, but most of them are. If I will give a number, maybe around 95%.

Well, you do got the point and it will be that up into a particular person on how he would be able to sustain up those failures and keep pushing forward despite of those things. Its hard but its true that there those who do really be able to survive and find out some good gem and thats why it do take up a shot for you to deal up with it. There are those who do survive but most of the time people do surrender and turned their back because it was never been worth of their time. So it will be that depending on a certain individual. Its true that there are some projects which are that still worth or could possibly made out some good profits once you do be able to spot it out but of course it wont be that easy in the first place.
