Title: What do you think of current gamefi projects ?
Post by: Z-crypt on April 16, 2025, 02:10:55 PM
After the whole telegram “gamefi” era died down. I actually decided to stop putting efforts into gamefi projects because literally most users were all invested then because of the gains which was merely made on the long run.

I totally switched to participating in testnet airdrops but while scrolling through X earlier i came across a post about Gomble games listing, what exactly brought up my question was i realized it has about 3.5 million users, I’m not surprised though as it was not telegram based and the gamefi sector is a huge one. I’d like to know what you think of the gamefi narrative currently.

A thing nobody needed and nobody asked for.
Just as useless as the first wave when there was a token for cabbage, three for potatoes 100 for ice cream, having tokens for each game is just as stupid. Besides, it will have no future, not with incoming EU regulations and in other countries too

Is it really true? Looking at their Google Play on https://play.google.com/store/apps/dev?id=9078522222530948970 (https://play.google.com/store/apps/dev?id=9078522222530948970), most of them have 1K+ to 10K+ download where only 1 game 500K+ download.

I've said it many times, but most web3 game, defi game, gamefi and similar stuff focused too much on making money and promoting it's token/coin. Most of them appear to forget that people usually expect game to be fun or entertaining.

Well, it started with Axie Infinity, and it will continue as most players are only playing these games for money.
Axie Infinity, Pixels, Pegaxy, The Sandbox, Decentraland, and other more games. I mean most of these token's prices are down still because... nobody cares or holds the token.

Games in general are being created for us to be entertained and interact with other gamers. Yes, I played Axie as well in the past and made some bucks, but still, I always wanted to play MMORPG games that's outside of Web3 because that's what I love to play, and the reason I'm playing is to have fun, and I can't feel any fun playing these Web3 games because they're heavily focused on money-making.

I've been trying to find some videos about GameFi on Youtube, but it's almost impossible to find any interesting games. Everything looks pretty bad, from the graphics and features to, especially, the tokenomics. Most new projects are copying some of the successful projects from 2021-2022, but sadly, they haven't been able to improve the player experience.

Clearly, GameFi needs more investment to have better quality, be worth playing, and not just be a project created to pump and dump its native token. I think that in the future, many big companies will release games and then integrate some applications like payments through crypto.
