My big big big big congratulations to the president, his excellency, Freemind on this re-election as the 6th president of this wonderful community, and to the newly elected vice president, his excellency, Jokers, looking and considering how much you both have contributed to the growth of this forum, I guess it's not wrong to say that it's an honor to have both of you at the helm of affairs of the forum, I believe in you guys, and trust that you both will work closely with the admin and other forum heads, to steer this ship/forum in the right direction and to the right destination.
Congratulations once again and special thanks to the admin for giving birth to such a wonderful and unique forum..
God bless Altcoinstalks, let's make Altcoinstalks great againā

Congrats to both of you, definitely well deserved. Can't think of a better pair suited to this right now.
+1 for admin for updating latest news as well, very timely with end of community voting etc :)
Moved topic to forum announcements though ;)

haha today we are making opposite decisions ;D
I'll move it back to forum related
because it was in forum announcements, but there not everyone can comment, and given that it's a pres election, needs to be available for whole community
i initially created it in announcements before realising my mistake and move it.
But main thread with info is still in announcements.

My bad, didn't realise commenting was limited there.

Congratulations to @Freemind and @Jokers on being elected to their positions, there is no doubt that they will continue to do an excellent job :)

Here's a very well deserved CONGRATULATIONS to both Freemind and Jokers, newly elected President and Vice President, respectively. I am looking forward to be working with these great guys in making sure that AltcoinsTalks reach its full potential in the most exciting, expanding and global cryptocurrency industry. Cheers!
-
Congratulations, Freemind & Jokers.
I wish you both the best, as we need more action.
It's good to see some changes made by the senators, but reading https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=148614.0, most of the work is still being done by the admin.
-
Thank you all so much for your kind words. As president, my first decision is to impose tariffs on all boards :o... Just joking.
It's an honor to be president again. I hope to have more time to do more at the forum and continue improving in all aspects.
Congratulations Jokers!

Noticed that too - was expecting the president to have some power on some important forum related actions. It would be better if the President is able to banned/unbanned users, teleport users to lessen the loads on the admin, to focus more on the forum maintenance and marketing.
Also noticed the admin declaring forum contest winners instead of the president.

GMs, at least those that have been granted permissions, thus including President & VP, are able to ban/unbanned users. But sure pres & vp should be handing teleportation at this point. +1

Didn't know about that, it's not stated here. Good one..

I feel the current power granted to the president is what the GMods and VP should be doing; the president is intended to have close/similar power to the admin. This activities are increasing, and the admin needs to share some loads. IMO.

Congratulations to reelected president Freemind, and to our new vice president Jokers.
I hope both of you can work joined forces to make AltcoinsTalsk forum a better place in every possible way.
Now I want to see your program and plans for upcoming period ;)

That's because the topic is about presidents not mods. Don't really have a topic about GMs, other than general mod guidelines (https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=82991.0). Maybe I should create one, though there's not much to say about it imo.
(You also have to read between the lines for the detail in that topic; 3 strikes and under review requires posts approved by admin only - this is what we call a "ban" - even though users can still "try" and post.)
Note: This is infinitely better than spammers creating a new account and spamming again, though naturally this happens more often than not unfortunately. Ideally they are stuck in limbo posting spam that never gets approved, ie using bots or whatever so don't even notice. We have quite a few of these which is good.
I feel the current power granted to the president is what the GMods and VP should be doing; the president is intended to have close/similar power to the admin. This activities are increasing, and the admin needs to share some loads. IMO.
Pres & VP activities are increasing as well, I haven't updated that topic thoroughly but will do in time for consistency sake. For example President is granted a small "set" of admin tools, and there is tonne of work Freemind does behind the scenes that not even other GMs know about, only presidents, using such admin tools (which isn't for me to elaborate on either per state secrets act). Soon Pres & VP will likely be taking on even more it seems, at least hopefully, but I'll let them announce them instead of spoiling any surprises. :)
Imo though the president role/duties should strive to be further away from admin technical duties (those that require admin privileges), as well as GM duties. Ideally President is able to focus on managing the forum, initiatives, promotion, giveaways, competitions, etc, rather than flat out mod or admin work. Personally this is what I found very limiting about the role, ie effectively acting as a "head mod", rather than being able to focus on being president of a community as intended. Ideally also in the future the President wouldn't even be a GM or mod, but we are a long way away from making that work.
To reduce admin work admin "simply" need to appoint more admins *hint hint*: that's the only way to reduce the admin workload. Ideally there'd be a few admins, juniors and seniors, from devs to GMs, who can carry out more of the workload (on the technical side, with pres covering the non-technical). I understand it's a trust issue handing over such power to users, especially knowing that others are liable to break things, but some of us have been around for so long now we are probably just about deserving of it by now (ie, those referenced in next paragraph specifically). But as always, anything admin related is up to admin, and any user given such privileges would 100% be appointed by admin only and never elected, so wouldn't work for Pres role for that reason alone.
Edit: Also GMs are best kept as GMs unless they are striving to do more beyond moderating. Ie we have a few "workhorses" in the team (ie among us presidents, judges, ambassadors, etc), those that will just get shit done and not waste time talking about it. Specifically the original OG GMs (heyod hewow, epidemia, Bigpat) who are effectively the foundations of the forum moderating system, so I wouldn't want to be changing that ever personally. They also rarely get the credit they deserve for covering all language sections (specifically one vey special GM), and you won't find them posting in english sections in a hurry. :)

I'm currently a "strong candidate" for admin if that helps. There is still too much admin is responsible for, ie most of the forum work, hence I applied for jnr admin 4 years ago to try help assist with this. Ideally also pres comm will strengthen with Jokers addition, and we can work more as a focused core team there.
This would be very helpful, frankly it would be better if admin's responsibilities were limited to code development, database management, backups and technical updates.

Congratulations mate :D You work very hard. And also Joker is a very active member monitoring the forum
All the best to you both

Freemind and Jokers deserve the positions in the forum. As the name implies, he really has a free mind in the forum. The unbiased dealing with everyone. I also join other meaningful members in the forum to congratulats the two in their victory. With this reelection, they will achieve greater things here in the forum.

Including the forum funds and forum tokens. I doubt there's any Forum treasurer here..
The new admin also need to have basic programming knowledge- could be useful at the backend with the main admin..

Congratulations to both of them, this is a great achievement. They have a lot of potential for the forum, which is why they were elected with a high vote count. I think it was fair. I congratulate them again.
+1 to the Admin, for making such an important post by declaring the results of the vote.

Very good suggestions actually, but I am wondering, if admin responsibilities will be limited to all of this that you mentioned, who then takes over the ads and the revenue being generated from the forum ads?
Are there or is there any user amongst the elected parties who admin trust well enough to handle and manage the forum ads negotiations and placements on this forum and also ensure safe keeping and judicious use of the fund generated without embezzlement? Asking this because I know this currently the responsibility, or one of the responsibilities of the admin..
+1 anyway..

That's another story that ironically was partly explained in the forum president topic, but was recently removed as deemed redundant.
I thought this might come up so should have been included, so I'll leave that one to admin explain ;D
The new admin also need to have basic programming knowledge- could be useful at the backend with the main admin..
Ideally a dev would come though mod route to get there to assist with coding on test sites, that would be helpful I imagine. There are currently three listed candidates atm imo.

Ideally there would be more active Ambassadors that could be taking more key roles in negotiating ads etc, as has been the case in the past, but overall finance/revenue remains admins responsibilities (even though 25% can still be earnt by mods of the section they bring ads to, last I checked). I wouldn't say it's the bulk of the admin work though, even though it consumes enough time. Most of the workload is in the backend fixing problems and always trying to improve and update the forum, more specifically testing out new code on the test sties which is very time consuming.

I am not leaving anytime soon,
if i get too busy to manage, will assign an admin to replace me.
treasury: not of the concerns of users, because the forum only distributes altt and alts tokens nothing else (in the past, i did distribute few times eth, but that will no longer be the case), i do however use the funds to support liquidity everytime i do general token distributions.
token policy: distributed based on points and special ranks including moderators etc , nothing more to say.
Small amounts of tokens are given to president for different contests and community engagements, and that will be frequently the case, amount given in small quantities to avoid too much sell pressure on the small liquidity the token has.

Congratulations @Freemind & @Jokers. I think Both person are deserve this position. I also think they will more contribute on our Forum from now. Voters are confident on them so they elected them.

Not getting you into early retirement though, just that life is not promised and whether you're here or not, we still want the forum to keep existing and not disappeared with you. Are future plans keep in place to make sure the forum continues to exist without you?

::) I don't know what to say about this
let's say, in an ideal outcome, i'll manage to have an entire solution that require no central authority, done.
middle outcome, someone else becomes admin
worst outcome (highly likely), the forum dies out with time, like the 2-3 dozen other crypto forums that have existed (with the exception of btt)

Didn't want to put you in this situation, but we must all think ahead - this forum is climbing up there with BTT and needs to exist beyond you and me. There's no better time to start making out "after me " plan for the forum. Put your end users into consideration first..
Donations can be replaced but if the forum power is not equally shared with someone else, it will be gone for ever should the head be cut off..
-
middle outcome, someone else becomes admin
Why you and not you and? There's zero chance the forum would do well without you at present, even if someone else did have admin access. I assume it'd take 1+ years to mentor someone into becoming competent realistically, a handover would likely be an awful outcome should it occur in the future rather than having a transition period.

man ... this is just a forum
btt is more about bitcoin and satoshi, bitcoin is 1.5 trillion dollar asset.
forums like this pop up and disappear all the time.
i have run forums for more than 18 years, this is the first time i hear something like this ;D

If ETH hit $20k the forum would worth million dollar eh 8)

no, it did not start as a personal project, a big amount of money have been put by me and others to start this project and most importantly market it.
the costs associated with launching, marketing and running this forum have i think surpassed 15-20k$

Everything related to forum banners and other revenue-generating activities is completely transparent. Banners are placed through monthly bids, in which all brands are eligible to participate. Furthermore, the security of funds is not an issue, as earnings are transferred directly to forum addresses, to which only the administrator has access.
I think that of all the administrator's tasks, the monthly bids are the ones that take the least amount of time, so I don't think it's a problem, although he can always delegate it to another user. That's the administrator's decision.
-
dudes ...
i feel like an old grandpa on his deathbed looking at his kids fighting over inheritance ...
guys guys calm down ....
i am not leaving this project soon, and when i decide to do so, know that there will be a plan of replacement.
also admin role is a bit tricky, because various things can break the forum, and any mistake can render the forum unusable
concerning coding, that's also tricky, as code needs extensive testing to not break the forum

However, looking at it from an ROI standpoint, have the ads running on the forum managed to cover their expenses since the forum started? Feel free to answer it ;D

I will want to wake tomorrow and understand that this forum is still in existence. Saying that forums like this pop up and disappear all the time could be a true statement, but the statement coming from the admin does not instill confidence.
In this present world everything and including forums are tilting towards decentralisation, there needs to be a reassurance of continuity.

Some of you guys have absolutely no idea what you are talking about, and sometime i have the impression you talk just for the sake of talking and creating posts instead of actually talking about crypto and the technical stuff related to crypto projects, and honestly it's exhausting!
1- this is decentralisation: https://directfund.net/fundraising/project.php?id=17
and to my knowledge no one has achieved something similar, and i doubt anyone will anytime soon, because communities are difficult to operate, and even with a democratic system, it is still very difficult, now imagine decentralised ...
2- on this forum there are separation of roles, there is an elected president and there is an admin
the admin has mostly a technical role
the admin role is held by me, and i will pass it to whomever i see fit, whenever it is needed.
An admin should have access to the database, to the ftp etc etc .... thus this is probably not a role i will pass to people i do not personally know.
Once that is done, the admin role will be solely technical and will not be involved in the community.
This said, i do not know who sidetracked the discussion, it was about the president reelection and new vice president.
