Title: Are ETH's gas fees still as high as before?
Post by: Danieler on May 08, 2025, 05:21:51 PM
If we see that Bitcoin has increased a lot in the current cryptocurrency market, then we can see that the market will be much better in 2026. In addition, if we look at the price of ETH, it has also increased a lot.But now I want to know. Is the gas fee for ETH still higher than before? Please let me know about this.

I stopped transacting with Ethereum very long ago when the fees became something else. The current bitcoin pump should hold up stronger than the last pump.
This is because of a couple of reasons like; we have already experienced the retracement during that late periods of the trump hype so we should not be expecting any for the mean time till we have successfully broken above $100k.

Its possible that fees will go up also. They do have an upgrade last may 7, it could be one of the catalyst for its price to rocket if they can reduce the congestion and the fees to adjust to its very minimum hopefully.

You can only dream for bull run til 2026. This will come down somewhere and we will have to wait for another long sideway movements of the price.

There's not really much changes to the congestion problem during peak seasons. You still see high transaction fees with interacting with smart contracts. Last thing I read was that Vitalik making new proposals to further lower the gas fees on Ethereum but it seems there are others in the community that are cautious about it.

that is certainly a speculation but one that is so different from most even though bitcoin is doing well right now a lot of people are thinking that this will be the last ath before the bear cycle hits it off

you should expect that if the price is going up and the activity in the market is active that the gas fees will also be increasing

Actually, we can see that bitcoin price is increasing gradually in cryptocurrency market, besides we also saw that ethereum price also increase in cryptocurrency market gradually. If we follow in cryptocurrency market, we can see that ethereum price is increasing $2315 right now. But if we compare before, we can see that gas fee is not decrease significantly. So i don’t transaction in ethereum. But i think that within a shot time we can see green signal from ethereum.so we should wait for this time.

First off, I agree that the BTC price has significantly increased compared to before, but that doesn't mean we won't have a crypto winter in 2026. I'm still not convinced about the supercycle, I'll be waiting for a drop in the entire crypto market in 2026-2027, similar to 2022-2023.

Getting back to ETH, I'm not clear on what time you're referring to and comparing gas fees. If you're talking about gas during the 2021 memecoins trend, a transaction on Ethereum could require 300 gwei and cost $70-100. Currently, gas fees are only around 5 gwei and cost $1-2 because most transactions are being processed on Ethereum Layer-2. I hope Ethereum Layer-1 will have more transactions after the Pectra upgrade, but I don't expect gas fees to become as high as they were in the past. That might be good for ETH price now but not good for the Ethereum ecosystem.

The ETH's gas fee is not high at all, it's 1.6 Gwei, which is almost according to the current market price, which is 0.06 USD. Not high at all, by the way, now, the ecosystem is too diverse with the L2s, we don't need to worry about the gas fees, but with all the exceptions on the L2, if you prefer them at the same time.

ETH is picking up some momentum now. I watched the price growth, but it doesn't matter until the market recovers completely, which still needs a couple of weeks.

What exactly do you need ETH for? Is it smart contract interaction or farming for an airdrop? You can always check the block explorer whenever you want to make transactions, so there should be no need for you to feel out of date with the latest gas fees situation. As cheap as a network is, fees will always increase whenever the network is busy. Like always, a simple market demand and supply situation. If you want everything to cost as cheaply as possible, regardless of market conditions, you probably need to look at a centralized network.

Just for context, the coin's transaction fee isn't directly proportional to its current price. Seeing an increase in the price of the coin doesn't mean that the transaction fee goes up as well.

Yes, it happened with Bitcoin in 2017 where one transaction can cost you around $20 while on Ethereum, it happened in the 2021 NFT hype as well where one transaction can cost you at around ~$200 more or less. Right now, as I'm making this post, the gas of Ethereum is around a dollar and 20 cents which is still a bit high compared to other smart contract projects out there like Solana or Tron.

The gas fee is low compared to where it was years ago and it's because of the Dencun upgrade, but if you will compare it to other Layer 2 projects, it's a bit high, but still many are still using Ethereum.
