Title: How long until governments outlaw bitcoin usage?
Post by: bosshyip on July 14, 2018, 07:49:03 PM
I'm just starting to enter into this BitCoin world and I have 2 main questions:

1) How long until goverments start persecuting bitcoin users?
2) What will happen when they do?

It's not a matter of if governments have the right to do so. Ofcourse they theoreticaly don't (or shouldn't have).
But US government also didn't have the right to press other countries to outlaw bittorrent, but look at what happened in Sweden, Canada, Spain in just the last 2 years.
If the corporations that own copyrights of movies and musics are being able to protect theyr profits by changing laws and bending governments, courts and police force, imagine what the banks can do!

Of course to reach that point the community should have grown incredibly larger, but to all of us who believe in the future of virtual currencies this is a point to be considered.

Would then bitcoin be banned to underground usage hence every single coin would become black money?

China has tried to ban bitcoin like 8 times now and they haven't been successful.  I don't think it's really possible to ban it, there's no central network to stop it, transactions can happen basically anytime over the internet.

There may be many options for the development of the situation with Bitcoin, but I believe that governments will not prohibit Bitcoin, because they see it as a benefit for the development of their economies, especially for emerging economies. Japan, one of the world's high-tech countries, has shown the world that Bitcoin can become an additional investment tool that can be integrated into the economy of the country. G20 at the last congress expressed its opinion on Bitcoin and it is now clear that countries with developed economies of the world intend to regulate cryptocurrencies, and not to prohibit them.

The prohibition of Bitcoin can not destroy it, but only the number of those who invested in it will be reduced in order to make a profit. Naturally, the price of Bitcoin due to the ban will drop, but it will continue to be used by members of the huge Bitcoin community that he likes and who believe in his bright future. They can still be used, because it is decentralized, but I believe that this scenario is unlikely.

I don't think it's going to happen.  A LOT of big money is in bitcoin already, and they aren't going to allow bitcoin to get banned.  More importantly, bitcoin isn't really bannable lol, there's no central target to fight against, it's decentralized.  Banning bitcoin would be like trying to ban watching porn, there's just too many ways to access it.

maybe it will take a long time to get into other countries. a lot of development must be received in the government. and also many positive benefits for that can only be received in the government. but I believe that when it comes to the future bitcoin will be accepted in the government to see the very good potential that bitcoin is giving now
