There are a growing number of companies that are avoiding the ICO route and conducting an airdrop only distribution method. This means they are not raising any money towards developing the project and relying on community support to build the coin value. Generally have to have already secured financial backing and be very confident in the product to do this, as there will be no safety net of investor money to cover ongoing costs. Done right, it can be a great way to reach the masses.

simple,by reading.
ICO means Initial Coin Offering,in brief those kind of project will do the sale.
and you can see it on their announcement, website or their whitepaper.
if you do not see it,that mean they do not do the ICO.

Sale ? if yes, they're doing an ICO.
other than that,it can be considered as a non-ICO project.

in my opinion airdrop is also one of ico, but airdrop is easier to follow because without posting to market the bounty program, but airdrop makes a small payment.

There are different types of airdrops, but you can participate in all, because no one knows which project will be successful and will bring you money. The more airdrops you take part in, the more chances you have to make money, although now it's not a very profitable occupation.
