Title: Be careful with Telegram Group Fake Admins
Post by: sturec22 on August 05, 2018, 11:52:06 PM
If you are investing in ICOs or just even attending airdrops, please be careful with telegram direct messages.
When you join a telegram group, a fake account with the same name and picture of the group admin might send you a message, this can only be a friendly welcoming message.
These fake admins can ask give you some ETH addresses to send your money, to buy the ICO tokens or only to donate airdrops, or even your MEW private key...

*2 days ago, I joined bitfinex telegram to ask some questions. I directly got a dm from an admin looking scam account, it was only a welcoming message. Reported immediately

No wonder now there are many scams to gain unilateral profits. so still be careful, I've experienced a lot of the same thing but I ignore it because they are fake accounts

I agree with you. we must be more careful in following projects in ICO and Airdrop. because lately there are so many news that there is a Cram project. and that was very surprising for me and the investors.

Usually, when someone would direct message me related to ICO then I would just disregard since more often than not, it would just be a scammer who wanted to get hold of my coins. There are several warnings by the admin that they do not send direct message and will not ask for ETH. If you wanted to join an ICO then directly go their site an register there.

Whenever someone pm's you out of the blue, find out what groups you have in common and find out if the person has the admi star before you reply to their messages.  Most people change their usernames to look exactly like the admi's and even use their profile pics, so be careful.

It not only in the TG group, after I have started trading in the crypto and joined the Bitcointalk, I have received many e-mails every day, those scammers want to my private key and want to hack my trading account, everyone should install the firewall and the antivirus, keep your private key in the safety place.

Below picture for your reference, please let me know if the link is dead:

Received the mail about airdrop distribute, when I visited the page, it want my private key, shit!

Another one, I got the mail EOS airdrop is live, it same to my private key!

So, anyone please stay away from the page which wants to your private key, it absolutely is the scam or phishing page.

So true. now we must be more careful of the Fake Admin Group Telegram. this is usually in the ICO, and usually they also ask for our ETH account and ask for a lot of money. if there are such things do not obey. because my friend who is also doing business in crypto experienced such a fate. namely fraud that impersonates the ICO.

Thank you very much for this experience. It will be very helpful for all members here. In my opinion if you are asked like that about your ETH address to send your money, do not immediately believe it, first make sure the correctness of the Admin account is by searching for information related to the ICO you are following. If it's correct and you know if the Admin opens a scam, you just send your ETH address.

i am sick of these scammers... good example for the newbies my friend.
also I am sick of the twitter "eth giveaways" OMG.
you know what, I have a web developer friend - she is not a trader, but has a small btc -. She called me like a couple of months ago and told me that she saw elon musk giving away some ETHs, she was really excited about that and just wanted me to confirm if it is okay to send him ETHs.
I was really shocked that even she can be easily manipulated by them - when I say "even" i mean that she is into development and well aware of scam issues around web.

Notice the admin in telegram first that you will dm her or him. Afterwards if she responded then you can do dm to make sure both of you are not scammers. Don't easily trust anyone who say they are admin by sending you a personal massage it is much better if you will confirm it in official group. Then the next move is depends on you and in the legit team members.
