Every mistake has its lessons. When you make a mistake, there are three things you should do: admit it, learn from it and do not repeat it.
Ever since I had been in this space, I have only been used to bitcoin, ethereum, NEO, waves, tokens that use their platform and some other very common coins, but just this week was my first time of transacting fully on XLM platform.
I got a token that uses the platform of Stellar (XLM) and I was able to trade the token into XLM on their decentralized exchange.
My mistake came in when I was about to transfer the XLM, to be traded into BTC on another exchange.
I thought the process of transfer would be the one I had been used to, not knowing that I was supposed to include a "MEMO".
I eventually transferred it, waited for an hour, but found nothing.
I was bothered.
It was in that process I got to know that memo was to be included. That was my mistake.
I admitted I had made the mistake.
The lesson I learnt is to always study everything first (both new and old, because old things can still change), before jumping into it.
This mistake I have made up my mind to never repeat again.
I AM SHARING THIS FOR YOU TO LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES AND FROM YOURS.

thanks for shearing your experience. its good that you learn from your mistake. you admit it. its a very tough thing to do. hope for the best for you. your experience will encourage lots of people :)

It’s not just about learning from your mistakes, but also to do with making sure that they are not repeated. IF we do then it absolutely means we have not learned anything, so that is something we MUST not do.
I always believe that learning from mistake is very important and I do just that only via following regular news. Thanks to AsiaCryptoToday (https://www.asiacryptotoday.com/the-mass-migration-of-chinese-crypto-miners/), which keeps me up with every possible development of the industry and really have me with great boost to the whole market.

Sometimes sharing your past is very good and in fact I have learnt more from this. Thanks so Much

Its not just the XLM has this MEMO, there's also NEM which you will always have to include MEMO upon making transactions. Even XLM counter part also needs the MEMO. I don't really like these type of tokens but then when a project is really good, you wouldn't mind having all the troubles of copy-pasting these MEMOs as long as you got the tokens and profits ahead to look forward to.

Yes I agree mate. We must learn from our mistakes. Be carreful and do with smart strategic. We will be success.
-
yes of course we have to learn from our mistakes. everybody must have made a mistake, but I think only people who dare to learn from his mistakes will succeed, not those who contemplate his mistakes and failures.
-
Yes, before transferring tokens, you should read the procedure for transferring. this applies to beginners so they don't lose tokens due to wrong transfers. very fatal and result in loss of assets that we have.
-
thanks for the article will now be more attentive to these points, you should always read the rules and recommendations

Learn from mistakes and promise to never do it anymore is absolutely needed for anyone. Claus, you shared a good experience. Not only you, we all can learn from the mistake you have did even it was a small mistake. Finally we know that to include a memo if someone wants to transfer the XLM. :)

I think that how many does man live, so much he learns and at the same time commits mistakes. We can only try not to repeat the mistakes that have already been committed in the past. On other people's mistakes people do not learn, believe me!
-
Yes, that's true, to be able to be successful you need to learn from your own mistakes and that's life! that's part of it. I have experienced that for many times as well as my journey here in Crypto, it's not easy to make decisions, sometimes it fails, but instead of giving up, i use this as a inspiration to move on.

Yeah, you are right. When we make a mistake, so we get a lessons then. Actually, so far I never transfer the XLM with the aim to trade BTC on an exchange. I just collect some coins from bounty campaign. So, this lesson can lead me to avoid the mistake in trading my coins later.

In life, if you do not learn from your mistakes, there is no way you will progress. It is better to also learn from other people too and not commit the mistakes that they also did. Life is better if you avoid mistakes committed by people or yourself.

Thank you for your information, actually I have never used XLM, and from your experience I can draw the conclusion that XLM is a little different from other coins, it has a MEMO if you want to send to someone or an exchanger.
