hi guys.  The most people who are into crypto that I know started with bitcoin (but some of them started already a longer time ago...) and continued with altcoin.... well I'm also planning to invest in crypto and asking myself of course also where to start... I think personally I would start with altcoin, maybe with low price coins.... where would you guys start if it was your 'first time' today? curious to read your opinions and experiences. :)

My first crypto that i bought after bitcoin is litecoin. At that time, litecoin is the next popular as compare to bitcoin and there is even site that allows litecoin to invest in companies. So it is kind of useful to have litecoin.

As I remember, I started on cryptocurrency for free, have been participating on airdrops and bounties. I can sold some of the rewards, then bought btc, other altcoins or tokens.
I also got my first ethereum from airdrop, so no need to buy eth gas anymore.

My first experience was buying Bitcoin first, then I did a treding on the Poloniex exchange with less experience.  ;D at that time I bought LTC. but when I did not get profit, there were a lot of financial losses,  ;D because I was just a beginner in treding. but from that mistake made a lot of learning for me. 8)

I bought XLM when they were at $0.01 - $0.02 cents as my first investment.  Turned out pretty well, I really like low satoshi value coins because it's easier for those coins to go 2x or 3x compared to something like Bitcoin which would need to be over $13,000 to 2x from where it is right now.  I prefer them as investments.

To be honest, my first investment was altcoins because the price was cheaper than bitcoin. At that time, I chose Ripple and EOS because seeing the potential of both coins was good for investment. After getting a good profit, I also ventured to buy bitcoin which was of greater value.

I knew crypto about 2 years ago from a friend, but I was not interested in joining. After a friend showed me the profit gained from crypto, I then learned about what crypto was. And after that, I joined it. The first coin I bought was bitcoin, because I didn't really know the altcoin at that time. And after joining Crypto for almost 6 months, I can also enjoy profit from joining Crypto.

Then I bought Coins in Altcoin, like Ethereum. So far Ethereum is the best coin owned by Altcoin and it's very profitable too.

I have not bought any currencies yet because I am trying to gain more knowledge and expertise before I do. So I am still a little cautious :D But I figured that probably most people started by buying BTC right? But please correct me if I am wrong:) I definetly plan on buying altcoins too, but I am still not sure which I am going to invest in and also how many different coins... If someone has any recommendations for beginners I am happy to hear them!

The first cryptocurrecy I bought was the king of Crypto, namely Bitcoin. Because people teach and guide me to go into the crypto world especially to Bitcoin. From the beginning I didn't know about Bitcoin, but it turned out that with Bitcoin I could get a lot of money. But after that I'm not monotonous in Bitcoin alone. I went to Altcoin and chose Ethereum as the next target, then XRP and finally the current one is EOS.

Thank you all for your replies. It is very interesting to read your opinions. As I mentioned I've done a good deal with the FTO. Have you heard about the opening of their first ATM in Wroclaw, Poland? From now on - buying, selling, and transferring money is as easy as never before! But wait, there is more! In FutureNet Cafe you can also pay for your coffee and meal in FuturoCoin!

What do you think about such ATM? Have you ever used such? How does it look from a technical point of view?

Of course the first cryptocurrency that I ever bought is bitcoin because it is the most famous cryptocurrency. Moreover, many faucets are there for bitcoin but this is around two years ago before the halving and the worth of bitcoin that time is around $300 so it is cheaper compared to the price now. I made a mistake though in investing in cloud mining sites and I became greedy that's why I lost what I bought. It should have been worth a lot nowadays.

Once a new coin comes into the market, it fairly unknown and can be mined easily as there are not a lot of miners interested in it. As it starts getting some traction and recognition in the community, people start turning their attention and rigs towards it making it more difficult to mine with every new rig that enters its network.

The first time I invested, I only invested my money in bitcoin because I didn't have more knowledge about altcoin. I see bitcoin as a potential coin, popular and has a very high market volume compared to altcoins. That's why I only held bitcoin when I started investing.

You hit the bull's-eye @AileenUK. The first coin which I invested in was FuturoCoin. I read that it is a new kind of cryptocurrency and I can't wait to buy! FTO was developed using Dash technology and, just like Bitcoin, it uses a p2p system. Futurocoin uses nodes too, but it also adds the so called Masternodes, which improve its process’ efficience. What’s more, with Bitcoin you have to await the transaction confirmation, which usually takes some minutes. Futurocoin has conceived a faster confirmation, which only needs 4 seconds. So, that's how it all started with my investments.
