Title: Token Powered Forums
Post by: cryptoctopus on August 17, 2018, 03:04:51 PM
Hey guys (any gals here?)

I'm brand new to the forum and looking forward to see how friendly this crowd is. I have a grand vision about the future of forums and billboard websites where people could reward the replies of a thread with tokens by clicking a button. Kind of like what steemit does but with the forums format (latest conversation jump to the top), with moderation capability and the optioin for each sub-forum to have it's own token (or a native token for all of it).

I'm surveying to see how people respond to such idea and if people of Altcoinstalk.com would be interested in something like this.

Feel free to attack the idea as a very bad one or ask though questions. :-)

PS: We are working on the alpha which should be available within the next 2 weeks we hope.

I would say the idea of rewarding replies with a click of a button is really cool.

But if you are in the process of developing your own forum, asking ideas in a to-be rival forum is not a good idea.

I think. what you are proposing here would be next generation of AltcoinsTalks forum. This is just an ideal solution where everybody will be incentivised accordingly because everything will be trustless. decentralized and on blockchain. This is the kind of forum I am waiting for. Same solution as Steem but for the forum. This would be ideal.

Messaged you because boss was talking about something kind of similar, not 100% similar but roughly 60-70%.

however if you want my honest opinion, forums is a tough domain,
we currently reward replies with karma, not far from your concept
but even with all the different precautions we take, there are still a lot of abuse.
which bring me to the conclusion : incentivize invites abuse and spam like content.

another issue is the amount of useless tokens such system would generate, currently we already have lots of useless tokens,

and last, we would probably blacklist these forums as we do with all forums

forum business is also a thing of the past, now Facebook is eating all the cookies.
