Since Bitcoin (BTC) started the cryptocrrency start up in 2909, and the appearance of Ethereum (ETH) supported it, cryptocurrency started appearing almost on a daily basis. Most altcoins tried to improve on the previous coins, to explore new areas of business, and to try and create a place for themselves in the vast world of digital currency.
Since then, the total number of altcoins exceeded 1500, as per CoinMarketCap. With so many crypto around, it is really hard, if not impossible to find the one with the most potential. However, after following the market for quite some time, experts believe that a lot of these coins will die out very soon. What do you think? Thanks

In my opinion many coins are good thing, because we have many chance. The good coin will exist, Bad coins may disappear.
-
Yes, because market competition makes many coins die. Investors only see a few coins that are quality and have a good future.
-
There are already many dead coin in the market, some project only have interest at first when creating the project but after some time the interest in the project is lost there it become a dead coin

I think We will see many coins / tokens may disappear. Because too many coins are scams.
-
Yes this is possible for cryptocurrency who has a very small volume. If there are too much no-value cryptocurrency always created, then there will always be their deaths.

Yes I think It will happen. Good coin will exist for.along time and bad coin will disappear.

Sure! Under the conditions of perfect competition, many "die". No matter whether it's business, technology, genetic mutation or potential lover.
-
As you might expect: many projects are gone. The collapse of Bitconnect led to the disappearance of a series of lending projects but the nature is ponzi, a series of tokens belonging to scam projects are no longer exist, some projects can not be developed must accept the fact that their token cannot find a place in the market.
I think this is necessary, the competition will bring development steps for the entire community.
-
It is likely that this will happen where there will be many new projects creating their own coins to promote their projects and products. I'm more interested in buying new coins supported by quality products that can be used by everyone in the future
-
Due to the large shit coins penetrating the space, Im sure they will be wash out. Every year there are trends like last year it was IEO and this year, its about DeFi. In choosing a coins/Tokens, you must ride the trend. The trend is your friend.
-
Yes, it was highly possible, because the current market condition is unstable, But still more projects will be launch and added to the market, those projects that have not enough hype and working products are going to die sooner or later thats why choose the promising project before investing.

Yep I am agree with you because crypto world is always unstable. And here few coin will last. So rest of them need to be died in the future..
-
If you think about the coins that will die. I guess it could happen in all the coins. But if the coin still has a team that continues to do development to attract investors, this kind of coin I think will be difficult to die.
The coin that died because the project was no longer developed so that it lost many investors that caused the project to go bankrupt. So you have to be intelligent in determining a potential coin.
-
The truth is that there are many coins that will die even if bull should come. They will die because they don't have anything to offer to the community. We have too many useless tokens that need to go off and will surely die off very soon. Some are just for pump and dump, when the community are tired of them, they will die.
-
In the two years that have passed since this topic was written, indeed many coins and tokens have left the market and, most likely, forever. However, in their place came new ones and the total number of cryptocurrencies even increased to three thousand. Well, this is quite normal for a decentralized cryptocurrency that anyone can create. However, cryptocurrency as a whole is growing and developing.
-
there are several coins or tokens that are already disapear. they re the dead coins. however it may for those that have no volume on the market. but for the top coins on coin market cap, it may be difficult to disappear. well, they are not shitcoins actually
-
It is not impossible that many coins/tokens disappear because of less of interest from investors. This happened in many altcoins, and I already saw many cases in some exchanges. Those coins/token will be delisted if too low transactions of buy-sell from investors. Then gradually they can be dead coins.
-
Crypto traders continue to explore new areas of business and create a place for their token in the vast world of digital currency. As a result, they appear in the crypto market with various plans and ideas. Competition runs across the market. Again there are some CEOs who go down everything after achieving the objective. This ends some projects. Again, some projects continue at their own pace due to investors. So I also think that many tokens of coin market cap will be lost in the coming days.
-
It would have been great if coins can just disappear so we don't have to see all the dead coins on cmc but yeah a lot of projects have died/failed so will many more but those coin will always be there to torture us and remind us of our failed investment
-
Your idea is right. There are many coins in the coin market cap which have no investor. Those coins will not be in the future. Because there is no investor and #DevelopmentTeam . Many teams have not thought about the development of those projects after making them successful. No one knows what the future holds for those coins. So many experts are speculating that many tokens will be lost from the coin market cap. I have this idea too. I know coin has no value without investor. Because these coins can never be like bitcoin.
-
Altcoins are disappearing so rapidly that sites appeared in an attempt to track such tokens. There are around 1,900 dead projects on the “deadcoins” website. Some projects are ready to buy such tokens of disappearing projects to make the crypto space cleaner. Such projects include, for example, the “coinjanitor”.
-
Yes it is possible. Shit coins must be separated to potential coins. In coinmarketcap there are many coins looks potential and ranking from top 1 to the the very last. Despite they are listed in coinmarketcap it doesn't mean attractive at all. Imagine there are coins not listed in coinmarketcap and in just awhile totally gone. That's the life of altcoins.
-
However, after following the market for quite some time, experts believe that a lot of these coins will die out very soon. What do you think?
I believe in this argument. Market will reject poor projects but a long with projects that are being rejected, a lot of new projects are being created everyday. As the result, total of currencies on Coinmarketcap keeps increasing. As the time of writing, it's 5712, approx four times higher than OP's number in 2018.
-
Many cryptocurrencies will of course gradually disappear due to various difficulties and problems, but new cryptocurrencies will constantly appear and will develop the cryptocurrency sphere, so there is no need to worry about this.
-

Every day, some cryptocurrencies come to the market, others disappear. However, in general, the number of cryptocurrencies is growing very quickly. Now the CoinMarketCap table shows 7179 types of cryptocurrencies. And two years ago, they wrote here about 1,500 cryptocurrencies. Therefore, the number of cryptocurrencies will continue to increase over time. States are widely adopting blockchain technology, so the cryptocurrency must continue to develop.
-
Is possible to reduce their number, but the altcoins will never disappear completely especially the largest ones the top 10 of the list of coinmarketcap and those that have many peculiarities such as Smart Contracts.
-
Nothing is impossible in crypto space, there are many cryptocurrencies may disappear due to some difficulties and problems, corrupt team members usually lead this things, sometimes bad decision may lead coins fall down from its high time. However, cryptocurrencies idea is relatively new and we don't act so much.
-
Obviously , their are some projects who run by spam perosn or by spammers . That's type of project perform well in begining but after some time they failed to mainten their price as well reputation in market.
We must carefully Invest while we are going to invest in ICO or IEO project .

There are much more than 1500 altcoins, CMC not lists every single coin and even on CMC a lot of tokens/coins which will die sooner or later. Crypto giving the possibility to create own coin for everyone, so a lot of people doing that without any experience and even more people doing that in order to scam others. A lot of projects already died/exit scam and even more will die/exit scam later on, but the market is huge and there is still a lot of space for many projects.
-
Excellent prediction!
I have seen many tokens disappear from the market, the majority of them failed projects or scams. However, the number of projects & tokens continues to increase, at the moment I see more than 7,000 tokens on Coinmarketcap, and it is expected that this number will soon exceed 1000 if the DeFi projects continue to be borned as simple as today.
Competition is needed to grow, but maybe we only need about 300-500 tokens to be more than enough for the ecosystems in the future economy.
-
With so many tokens currently available, it is impossible that all of them will get support from the general public. Therefore, many tokens / coins will die or disappear from the market. Therefore we must pay attention to the tokens we have, don't let us lose our money because we miss information or update prices from our asset list.
-
Since when you made this post till now, many altcoins have already disappeared, and so many others will still disappear in the future caused buy lack of usage, ones a project is launched and the token has no sustainable use case, sooner or later, the project will die and the token will disappear.
-
Obviously, there are many scam and shit coins in the crypto space. They are there and you can't do anything about it. However when push comes to shove, they would disappear when the wheat is sifted from the tares
-
If you realize it, many crypto coins have already disappeared till now. So, indeed it is possible to see many crypto coins disappear. I think it can happen because many crypto coins delisted and turned to be scam coins, or be dead coins. I am nor sure how many crypto coins have disappeared, but of course there were already many crypto coins.
-
With the increasing number of types of coins in the market it makes me feel dizzy. Too many choices, so that investors in one coin are not optimal. As a result, many coins eventually died, and disappeared suddenly. And this is really very scary.
-

This is not to be feared. Although the number of new types of cryptocurrencies is growing very quickly and now far exceeds seven thousand, as a result, only the necessary and demanded ones will remain on the cryptocurrency market. True, we cannot say how many in the end, at least approximately, there may be in this cryptocurrency market. Perhaps, over time, cryptocurrency can be searched for by areas and certain types of activity or somehow in another way and it will be much easier to use it.
-
I don't ever see that happening cause there are very good coins with actual use case in the real world. The worst thing that could ever happened is that coins that are shitty will eventually disappear.
-
The existence of coins or tokens on the crypto market will depend on how far or how string they can survive. There are numerous cryptos in the market and they should compete with each other. if they have no good promise, real product, no professional team, and also good community management, I think that the coins or tokens will lose their trading volume, going to be dead coins and then disappear. it is so easy for them to disappear if they are not promising and worthy cryptos.
-
dont think so, but somehow, because recently i participate in a project and not quiet long the bounty ended the project also pack up and had to return investor funds. so with the look of things its like 50/50 for any coin surviving.
-
Yes of course, many coins will disappear in the market and there are many reasons why that happens like the dev abandoned the project, scamming people, people will no longer support the coins and etc...
-
Already initially, a large number of coins were created as one-day. Projects were created to quickly collect as much money as possible, and dissolve in the crypto space. Then they appear in a different place and with the same purpose. Those who really strive to realize their ideas and thoughts continue to work. And there are many of them.
-

I don't think that 500 tokens is enough, the world is huge and the tokens are not just money, most of them are perform various managerial roles in the work of the project Blockchain. Each technology requires a different control token. I don't think the number of coins should be reduced, I think it's a DeFi solution, instead of switching to a few currencies that everyone uses - using swap platforms, any currency will be freely convertible to any other, thus providing instant liquidity. This principle can already be seen in individual projects. For example, in the Minter Blockchain - any issued token is tied to a native coin, thus any coin has liquidity and functionality from the very beginning of its existence.
-
The market is already saturated with altсoin, so it would be very good if only the most promising projects remained on the market.
-
Why not, only potential and good coins or tokens can exist in the market otherwise bad reputated and low volumes coins may disappear from the investors, traders and holders among from the market as usual.
-
Yes, if you have a good currency the chances of getting lost are very low will usually depend on the investor there are many tokens in the market that are scammed the demand for currencies does not lose much of its investment. When the price of a currency goes down there is no value in the market tokens will not disappear if we invest in currencies by checking different platforms but they will be lost if caught in a scam.
-
If you invest in a token or coin with good management, it is possible to make a profit. Which of these profits will attract you and which is why you will invest in coins. You need to know the reasons for that. You have to do market monitoring and you have to gain overall knowledge. Then it is possible to benefit. And in case of fraud and scams, the value of the token will be lost and various places will be excluded.
-
Disappeared and appeared depends on market value, daily trading volumes and number of investors and investment amounts. If a token or coins has low trading volumes, then it must be disappeared.
-
This is definitely a common situation for any kind of business. If you can complete with others then you can alive if not you will be disappear. In crypto currency market there are lots of coin list in every day. Where some are potential and many more can not survive in the market. Ultimately those will be disappear.
-
The common denominator of every coin is investor. The one who have a few numbers of supporters could not handle the load in cryptocurrency ecosystem. In other hand, the one who have a greater supporters could success in a matter of time. Investors equal to money. No budget, no money. No money will end soon.
-
Many tokens/coins already disappear, buddy. Those tokens/coins delisted on exchanges and the team members didn't care about the tokens/coins, then the tokens/coins will disappear gradually. Or if the coins/tokens are scams, they must be ended to be dead coins, which means they to disappear.
-
why not possible, so many coins disappear/dead...
since the beginning of 2019 alone, there have been many coins that have no price and have finally disappeared. of course it happened because of the lack of creativity of the coin developer.
-
Of course there are always a new token and coin and some old ones have been died due to investors left and finding new ones. I know that is not a good approach but reality speak that a project can die anytime and disappear anytime. Especially now that a lot of projects have been doing defi hype.
-
From the moment the first hype disappears, all cryptocurrency except the strong ones are doomed to disappear. Although people attack new entities for gain. When the market stops, everyone is drawn to safe havens.
-
When Bitcoin journey began. From then on, new coins started coming in the market. Thus the trend continues. Most of the coins are currently dying. As a result of the death of these coins, some projects are losing money from the budget they had in their native currency. It is not a probable event and these have to be explored. So I think these have had a positive effect. It can be seen in the market that many have already suffered a lot from the market and no one knows what the team thought of them. Most of the coins in blockchain technology are now alive. Most are expected to die in the future. But if the members of the projects want the projects to be kept, they must come up with new ideas. So I think we need expert opinion on this. However, it would not be right to kill the coins.
-
Many types of coins will continue to come in the market. But the main issue is what kind of role these coins will play in the future. There are some coins that are currently dead and some are on the verge of dying. The management of the coins was not good. They have left the market. If the management has to think well then the coins must survive in the market. There are different opinions on this subject and different experts have made different comments. But I will support the coins to stay alive in the market. Because the coins were once in a good position. Ever since the creation of Bitcoin, cryptocurrencies have gained a better position in the market.
-
Yes it has.
If you are going to take a look after a year prior to your first checked at coinmarketcap surely you will find out that some of those are gone. This is normal since not every crypto that listed in coinmarketcap is promising.
-
A lot of coins will eventually fade out while the ones with solid foundation will exist for long term. Some team members can't manage a project probably cause they were too greedy or they misused funds raised for the development. Most of this bad projects get delisted on several exchanges and eventually stop existing. This is a major disadvantage of long term holding in my opinion.
-
It isn't inconceivable that numerous coins/tokens vanish since of less trading from speculators. This happened in numerous altcoins and as of now saw numerous cases in a few trades. Those coins/tokens be delisted in case as well many exchanges of buy-sell from traders. At that point slowly they can be dead coins.
-
I also believe that many coins will disappear by themselves, because these coins cannot compete with others or the possibility of project developers who are less creative so that there are no updates that attract investors to buy these coins.
-
:this for sure will happen. Many altcoins do not have their use any more. New ideas are changing people's perception of crypto this will stop the use of older ones
-
Yes, it is really possible in the future that most of the cryptocurrency will disappear, but We don't know when will it happen of course. And I can compare this in a war or battle where there are battalions army or warriors but expect that after the battle only a few will survive, just simple as that in my own assessment.
-
Many projects are already dead and the dev team and support team leave the project. when a new concept came forwards old one went under its shadow and slowly fade away. Right now there are over 3000+ alts in the market and many projects that show great potential years ago now dead. Thats is obvious in the crypto world.
-
I think there will indeed be some coins that will go bankrupt and die. Especially for coins that are not able to compete with other coins. This may apply to newer coins with little interest.
-
Since the advent of Ethereum, many new coins have sprung up and are based on Ethereum. Looking at these developments they realize that this is a profitable business. So many new and proven coins appeared in 2017 Bitcoin, Ethereum, and still many Successful Altcoins.
As in Business when there is a lot of competition and they cannot survive or compete will inevitably be abandoned by buyers and experience failure. I think there will be a lot of coins lost because it is no longer developed and cannot compete. For me, missing coins is natural, let alone a lot of coin fraud.
-
Many coins in coinmarketcap cap turns to shit coins. Others turns scam before exchange arrangement.
-

The answer to this question is already obvious. If two years ago, in 2018, there were only 1,500 cryptocurrencies, and now there are more than 7,000 of them, then it becomes obvious that the cryptocurrency is not going to disappear. Of course, every day we can see the disappearance of individual cryptocurrencies, but in general, their number is growing at a rapid pace. It is not yet possible to say how much can be simultaneously on the cryptocurrency market. Before, even a hundred cryptocurrencies seemed like a lot. Apparently, we will only need to study certain directions of cryptocurrency development and such a classification will arise in the future.
