A 32-year-old suspect was reportedly busted by the Indian police for allegedly procuring synthetic drugs from the dark web before smuggling them into the country.

During the interrogation of Nikhil Tiwari, an unemployed MSc graduate from Uttar Pradesh, he admitted to selling the drugs to school and colleges which they paid in Bitcoin.

The police seized LSDnd an ecstasy from Tiwari. LSD is a colorless and odorless drug and it’s hard to detect through shipments.

According to an investigation officer, “Many of Tiwari’s customers used the drugs in parties along East Coast Road,” “We are looking for potential accomplices who may have helped him source or sell the contraband.”

Tiwari previously worked as an I.T. professional in the city before quitting the job and turning to drug dealing as a full-time profession, the report added.

A team led by Taramani assistant commissioner of police A Subbarayan and inspector Christin Jayasil, posed as customers in Tiwari’s house before proceeding to raid and eventually size 20 grams of MDMA, 62 ecstasy pills and 5 sheets of LSD stamps. The court has remanded him in judicial custody.

“We have sent samples of the seized drugs to a forensics lab to check their quality,” Subbarayan said. “We will be able to make a more accurate assessment of their worth after we receive a report from the lab.”
