October 5, 2009. The first Bitcoin exchange rate was published in relation to the dollar at the exchange: $ 1 = 1,309.03 BTC. Trades were launched on the New Liberty Standard.

Sounds like they were lucky/clever enough to have the foresight to get involved early, doesn't make it unfair though. Would you say the same about early investors in Amazon or Apple, or in fact any successful 'traditional' company? Don't get me wrong, I wish I'd spent $20 on it back then  :-\
