Post by: Paha87 on August 27, 2018, 03:36:02 PM
Developed by Tencent, the social network WeChat, which has 1 billion users, has reportedly blocked a number of accounts related to blockchain and cryptocurrencies.

The news outlet Lanjinger, which published the information, quotes the official representative of WeChat, reporting that some public accounts are suspected of publishing information about ICO and criminal "criticism" in violation of the terms of service. The news outlet writes that official orders were given to block all content and permanently block relevant accounts.

According to the publication, the temporary provisions enforced by WeChat were introduced by the Chinese cyberspace Administration on 7 August.

According to Lanjinger, the company Deepchain, Huobi News, Node Capital-backed, Jinse and CoinDaily included in the number of accounts who have been blocked. The website Coindaily claims that on the official channel of WeChat had more than 100'000 active users as of June 2018, and several other blocked sites, as reported Lanjinger, was among the 50 most influential associated with bloccano accounts on the platform.

As previously reported, this is not the first time WeChat has blocked accounts from belonging to companies operating in the cryptosphere. In may, the service suspended a third-party app a day after launch, which would allow WeChat users to create contract agreements and a unique social media ID using blockchain technology.

That is a bit harsh considering that crypto is taking over the world. Anyway, if they don't like wechat they can switch to line instead.
