Title: Bitcoin failed as a currency
Post by: hiramehar on August 30, 2018, 04:46:55 PM
Bitcoin was supposed to be used as a currency, not only a form of investment. However, it's been more successful as a form of investment, a "speculative asset".

Do you guys think that this can change in the long term ?

Well maybe through that way bitcoin is now becoming more popular not because it has a future to be the next global currency. If time will come that this will be a global currency I believe it will affect the volatility to fade.

Some people have agreed to make Bitcoin a long-term investment, Bitcoin is like Digital Gold. But I'm sure, someday Bitcoin will really be the main goal of Sathosi Nakamoto in creating this Bitcoin. Bitcoin will actually become a currency, which can be used for the sale and purchase of goods and services.

When viewed from the initial purpose of the creation of bitcoin, of course the function of bitcoin is very different. But sooner or later, people will use bitcoin as a digital currency that can be used for transactions, not just for investment.

Initially, bitcoin was created to facilitate local and inter-country transactions at a low cost. But when viewed at this time, the function of bitcoin has shifted slightly from the means of payment into investment. But this is not a failure for bitcoin as a currency. Because we can take other advantages of bitcoin, aside from being a transaction tool, bitcoin can also function as an investment.

I think there are some people who use Bitcoin as their currency and their income and their investment. And there are also some people who use Bitcoin as a business tool and investment tool for their future. But basically the same, Bitcoin is very useful for them to seek profit. That is what makes Bitcoin a currency as well as speculative assets.

Bitcoin has not failed as a currency because it's valued more like a digital asset than the currency is was meant to be. Bitcoin has the best store value today better than gold and investors are rushing to buy. There are altcoins with better features than bitcoin which can be used as digital currency. I see bitcoin as an investment .

In this it is just bad that most people see in bitcoin only a means for investment, not a payment system. With this approach, bitcoin will grow in price and it will inevitably bring it closer if not to ruin, then to a loss of leadership and minimal value. This will also cause substantial damage to the overall image of the crypto currency, because here it will certainly be treated as a financial bubble.

Bitcoin is still really badly used as a payment system. The fault in this is its primary use as a means of accumulating value. Everyone wants to keep bitcoin and make a big profit from the growth of its price. This may further ruin bitcoin.
