The Belgian financial services and markets authority has expanded the list of cryptocurrency platforms with signs of fraud to 78. Despite the warnings, the FSMA continues to receive new complaints from consumers about these crypto-companies.
The Belgian financial services and markets authority (FSMA) has announced that it has "updated its list of cryptocurrency trading platforms for which the Agency has received questions / complaints from consumers and for which signs of fraud have been identified."
The Agency writes:
Despite its previous warnings, the FSMA continues to receive new complaints from consumers who have invested in cryptocurrencies through these trading platforms. Consequently, the FSMA repeats its warning about those platforms that use cryptocurrencies for consumer fraud.
The Agency began to maintain a list of cryptographic trading platforms with signs of fraud in February this year. Currently, the list includes 78 platforms, including the last 28, which the Agency added on Tuesday.
"Scammers are trying to attract customers online by offering investments and huge profits," the Agency noted, stressing that "the only thing they actually do is embezzle customers' money and disappear."
Appendix 28 platforms

The financial observer stressed:
This list of crypto platforms is based solely on the results of FSMA research, in particular as a result of a review of consumer complaints. Thus, it does not include all companies that may work illegally in Belgium in this sector.
"Many fraudulent platforms claim to be actively engaged in cryptocurrency trading — "the Agency noted, adding," however, after investing in cryptocurrencies through these platforms, consumers either never receive the invested funds, or they simply haven't heard anything from the company after investing their money in it."
In addition, the FSMA added that "some of these platforms also offer other financial products with cryptocurrencies as an underlying asset," such as "guaranteed return savings accounts, service rights or derivative products such as CFDs."
