The report of the world economic forum (WEF) describes more than 65 cases of using blockchain to solve the "most urgent" environmental problems.
In a report entitled "creating blockchains for a better planet", the Swiss WEF identified a large number of applications of blockchain technology, which can be used to solve the most urgent environmental problems in the world.
The proposed uses, according to the WEF, can strengthen efforts to protect the environment in several ways, such as the use of a new financing model for environmental projects, the implementation of non-financial value and natural capital, which set out more efficient and cleaner decentralized systems so on.
In addition to the potential to improve existing processes, the report also mentions the possibility of introducing completely new blockchain solutions for the so-called "game change", which implies a complete transformation of the ways to manage major environmental issues. These measures include supply chain tracking, decentralized energy and water management systems, sustainable sources of Fund-raising, monitored carbon markets, and more.
According to the report, the next significant step in the implementation of blockchain-based solutions to environmental protection is the creation of a "responsible" and "global" blockchain ecosystem, in contrast to the individual projects that we have now.
In conclusion, the WEF also identified the problem of excessive use of blockchain and the hype around the industry. To address this issue, the organization proposed three main issues to be considered as a starting point for any blockchain-related initiative: whether the technology can solve a specific problem, whether the risks of unintended consequences can be managed, and whether a functioning ecosystem handles stakeholders satisfactorily.
Earlier, on September 13, the WEF published a joint report, which assesses how distributed registry technology (DLT) can add 1 trillion. us dollars to global trade over the next ten years. The report also argues that the introduction of technology by major governments, including European Union member States, is "inevitable".

Come on people, for the first time in history we have the tools to build a different world and to allow everyone an equal chance... we just have to use them wisely ;)
