It's really good to buy during ICOs because the price of tokens are too cheap but we should be careful in choosing a good project considering that most project launch this year are with too bad experience and did not reach their target sales due to a very weak market.

But if you just follow your friend joining the ICO or dont have ability to do your own research about that ICO than the answer is a big NO.
Why? Cause a lot of ICO is looks more scam at the moment and most of them only copy the old coin feature and just add some ordinary feature.
Then it will be your decision and if you want to invest in ICO please dont put all of your ETH to 1 ICO.

Buy only project without presale bonus, airdrop bonus, bounty bonus, and refferal bonus, because when you buy project with too many bonus the price from the token/coin itself will be drop significally at the first time hit the exchanger

5 Eth is a pretty large amount for me. If in my personal opinion you don't have to use all of it to invest in an ICO. And I prefer to trade, but if you want to invest in ICO, use 3 Eth for investment and 2 Eth for trading. You can search for good Ico on the Ico rating site.

Yes I agree on that, I think it is better to buy a coin than investing into ICO, because some ico today is really scam and some are really not profitable, ICO has really no assurance to give a big return from our investment because ICO really depends on the project or maybe the investors that invest into it.

ICO cannot be bought because you can investment in ICO.
