Title: Whitepaper alone is not enough to make you invest in an ICO
Post by: Grey Storm on September 22, 2018, 10:37:07 AM
I have seen so many people focusing mainly on project whitepapers, and relying solely on the information contained in the whitepaper to participate in the ICO. It is very true that the most important document of an ICO project is the whitepaper, but what you should be far more focused on is the credibility of the project team. No matter how beautiful and well written a whitepaper may be, without an experienced and vibrant team, such project is bound to fail.

The most important research you should always carry out before investing in an ICO is the profile of the team starting from the head of the team to the least person. If the project has advisors, also research their full profile and experience as well.

With all these, you will be safer than the person who only read whitepapers before investing in ICOs.

What are your thoughts?

My opinion is that the white paper is the most important document for the ICO since it is all in the whitepaper the important details of the project where people need to read and understand the content about the ICO project platform. Secondly, the investor should have to check also the team members behind the project and the project consultants. Lastly, the bounty manager that handles the project should have no red trust rating such that investors will not doubt about the ICO being a legitimate project.

Whitepaper also reflects the quality of the team since they are the one who wrote it. If they hired someone to write, the concept is still from them. Let's not discount that one.

This statement "without an experienced and vibrant team, such project is bound to fail.", is not encouraging for new developers. While experience is good, we cannot just say that those without it will fail

The whitepaper can help us to know the details of the project so it can be a way to determine if the project is good or not. But if we can get more information about the project especially who is behind the team, what their plan in the future, the project roadmap and what is the achievement they can get so far I think we can decide to join by investing with them. But of course, it is not a guaranteed for us to make a profit from the project because it needs time to proves it.

The team of course also play a very important role for the project, namely, in order to attract investors, but not as much as you say!  Obligatory value is the product itself, if it is difficult, then of course the team must have experience, if the project is weak, it must necessarily attract attention that a serious team has taken it!

Whitepaper is important but it is not everything. (for project, it is though :D)

For successful ico, there has to be some hype, community. Without these we couldn't make money.

This is true! A whitepaper isn't enough to invest in such project even if they have written it properly, just consider there's a lot of writer who cant wrote whitepaper in a correct grammar.

In my opinion, it is a combination so many factors to be considered in taking a decision to invest in an ICO. But the whitepaper is a very important document that you can't treat with such levity. You need know what exactly the the project is offering and what they really entail. Major information about is usually contained in the whitepaper, and if you don't get to read it, how then will know if the team have an original idea or they've simply plagiarized an existing project in the space?

Indeed. You shouldn't focus on analysis the whitepaper only, the information of the team member and the proof of a project registration are also very important things. To invest in an ICO, firstly you must ensure that the project is not a scam + the team members are not fake profiles. Then the next step is analysis the product quality, its sustainability, the potential, and the competitors. Don't invest in a project with less quality product, it is too risky for the token holders. A project may fail to improve the product or it may not survive because of too many competitors. So, you must consider it also.

If I had free funds, I would invest in a project with an experienced team, with a working product, and with an idea that will grab me and enjoy. I do not know how difficult it will be to check all this, but there are projects that launch successful brands, I think you can invest in such. I do not want to participate in the project, which is only in words, and will be implemented in a year or two. This cat in the bag.

Of course not enough. This is the marketing part, and that's the hardest thing. I need a lot of money. Now everyone is experienced in this business.
