I know that the answer depends on the project, how much you believe in it, and how much you have to spend.
But I am looking for data about an average ICO investor... are people investing tiny amount in as many projects? or more sizeable amounts?
For example, lets take a $40m ICO, what do you think the average investor puts? $10? $100? $1000? 5,000? more?
Edit: many of the answers were, whether one should invest in an ICO at all. My question was intended to understand more specifically what's the average person place nowadays in an ICO, IF they participate. I am interested in data, about a typical average ICO investment, not whether anyone should or shouldn't invest in an ICO.

Since investing in ICO's are too risky and I can't afford to lose such big amount of money in just a glimpse,so I just participate on signature bounties for a good amount of tokensat the end of the program.I think presale has minimum required investments depending on every projects target.most of which has minimum limits of like one ETH or .5ETH.Huge profits could be possible in these kind of investment but for me it is too risky.

Investing into ICOs is good atimes and somehow bad due to scam. Invest something that you won't mind if you lose it in near by future. I will like to invest 500$-above depending on the quality of the project

I would not invest in any ico right now, but would focus on those coins that are already on the market. They're more likely to survive the storm.

I don't invest much in ICO, I only invest 20% of the assets that I have now, the risk of losing investment is very high now so I'm not so sure about some existing ICOs, participating in campaigns is my first choice. As long as the market has not recovered.

Basically, to invest in an ICO, you are better to have money more than $500. However, I think it is not the right time to invest in ICOs since there are too many failed ICOs and scams. Moreover, the coin/token price after ICOs become too cheap. It is very risky for us as investors to put money there.

In my opinion, investing in ICO is very risky, because even a good ICO can only be so at first glance, and then it happens that all - the loss of money and time. There were no good projects on my way, so I am not going to invest. But who knows what will happen in the future.

At the moment I wouldn't invest in any ICO maybe few exceptions but as a rule, I would rather keep my Ethereum and Bitcoin than spend them on ICO that will keep expanding and paused for maybe over a year as most ICO do right now.

When investing in ico there is a big risk of losing your money, because after listing on the stock exchange the price of tokens is several times less than it was at the ico stage.

Im participating in numerous ICO in 2017-2018 period and so far my highest investment was only US$700 dollars But that was before honestly today i was hesitate to invest on ICO due to many scam activities that still victimized the potential investors arround.

I prefer to stay away from ICO because many of them are not credible. Better to invest in coins.
