It is hard to find criteria by which you can compare these two fundamentally different coins, because each of them is good in its own way and they are built on different platforms and created for different promising goals. Personally, I prefer Etherium, but I don’t think Bitcoin is better or worse, they are just different!

I think that Bitcoin and Ether are both digital currencies, the primary purpose of Ether is not to establish itself as a payment alternative (unlike Bitcoin) but to facilitate and monetize the working of Ethereum to enable developers to build and run distributed (Dapp)

ETH is definitely a security as it doesn't conduct ICO when it was launched, and has gain so much form in the market and to me still best in smart contract but can't compare it with btc , may be in aspect of tx fees it will be much better than btc and block mining time too, yes I agree with that cos btc was the first and bound to save these challenges and more why many new coin need to look in to this and work to correct it so there is room for many to showcase their talent to and advance in crypto .
