ICO period is sometimes categorized into phases with different bonuses and always as such takes a longer period of time. The period is normally longer in order to reach more investors through the bounty advertisement and by other means.

It depends on the team or the organizers of the ICO, some trust that they will raise the required funds within a very short time, while some want to give enough time to be able to raise the required funds, the duration of the ICO does not really matter, but it matters what time you join the ICO for ICOs which have varying levels of bonuses which are awarded to participators depending on what time they join the ICO, however if the ICO does not have varying bonus, then the time you join also does not matter.

The extended ICO period is because the allocated token does not meet the registration participants. In my experience, not all ico tokens will be sold out. This is because there are very few participants. For this reason the manager extended ico's time.

It's true, some projects provide longer ICO duration to gain more investors. It is a good choice to make more chance for them to join during ICO period. As far as I know, some projects also decide to extend the ICO period if they think still don't meet with the target. It is normal, every project has its own goal.

ICO time has been planned with various discount offers. A very long ico duration will make it easier for teams to attract investors, they have a lot of time doing promotional strategies to various countries. ICO time planning like that is better and very profitable for the platform.

@universe, In my opinion, other than what you mentioned, the reason why the project was extended was due to hardfork. Or usually there are obstacles that according to his manager will interfere with ico's path.

@universe, I also have the same experience. When I joined a project, the project was extended due to the number of participants who did not meet the target. And that takes a long time. So in the future, we must be more selective in choosing ico.
