Opera, the web browser backed by Bitcoin mining giant Bitmain, has announced that it has added it’s first ever mainstream browser to implement native Ethereum support on its mobile browser.
According to the announcement, the new features are now available for desktop – exposing a vast amount of users to the world of cryptocurrencies and decentralized applications.
The latest version of Opera’s experimental release, Opera Labs now includes a built-in cryptocurrency wallet. The feature should be hitting all Opera desktop browsers as soon as it’s made it through testing.
Users can now pair their desktop browser with the built-in crypto wallet in their Opera for Android mobile browser. The Opera desktop browser Labs build will install on your system separately from your stable Opera browser.
The crypto wallet in Opera for Android is a user-controlled wallet, which means that the keys controlling the funds and assets are stored on the user’s phone and nowhere else. The crypto wallet supports tokens and collectibles. Collectibles are digital, unique “things” you can own on a public blockchain.
Although the browser currently supports only storing Ethereum and its ERC-20 and ERC-721 tokens but is expected to add support for other currencies soon.
