Title: Bitcoin is an asset or currency.
Post by: maklampir on September 29, 2018, 04:54:53 PM
I hear from many sources that btc is used for trading much more than it is for goods and services; doesn't that make it an asset ??
and is that necessarily a bad thing ?? and what can we do about it as a community ??

Though bitcoin is a digital currency made to be use as a replacement of money, to pay commodities and services you needed. But nowadays, undeniably  it was diverted as an investment due to its high increase of value or price every year. And we can't blame some people considering bitcoin as an asset because it has a good store of value and expensive like gold.

Whether it is an asset or a currency that will not matter because bitcoin can perform both. That is why it is use for payment and some investors are holding it while the bearish is in the market.

Bitcoin an asset for me but somewhere bitcoin currency also. When I reserve bitcoin in my wallet then it is considered as assets and when I exchange it for buying something consider as currency.

For now it still not certainly.
We can say Bitcoin for an asset if we hold it and trade it.
Otherwise, we can say Bitcoin for currency when we using Bitcoin as a payment method. But for now, not all country legalling Bitcoin as a payment method. May be in future time. Hope.

I also think so that this is now more effective and nice bitcoin function if cast as assets. and for currency, I think there are still many things to be taken care of and well thought out, although so future bitcoin will deserve to be currency and now being in that stage.

I think Bitcoin is an assets for investment. It is not currency because It is high volatile. Maybe at the coming future when the bitcoin is more stable , It will be currency.

bitcoin currently known beginning as a tool for investment or rather are assets when this has been achieved that bitcoin started functioning as a tool payment, but it still gets plenty of constraints, so for me, it is enough so They both complement each other with respective functions.
