Every coin has its own Blockchain and compatible wallet. ERC20 wallets supports all Ethereum based coins but do not support coins built on the STEEM, EOS, etc Blockchain. Sending coins to the incompatible wallet will lead to the lost of the coin.

Yeah mate, there's a chance to loose it at it has a different configuration blockchain. The system will invalidate the transaction, but I'm not sure if this will go back to the original address or will loose. Interesting question, but this one isn't new, Im sure there are people with high curiosity to try this out just to see what would happen. My bet is it will return as the transaction is invalid to process. Hope every chain is like that. Cause inevitable to make mistake sometime and losing our precious coin that way is really heart breaking.
-
it is a risk that must be obtained by the sender of the coin or token, that is why it must be careful before sending the coin, and check at least 2 to 3 times before sending it.
-
Yes, maybe that happened. It could be because the wallet is susceptible to viruses or even susceptible to being hit by hackers and coin thieves, namely Hackers. It is also true you say, that sending coins to an incompatible wallet will cause the loss of coins. That can all happen. So you have to choose a good and safe wallet.

Hello there I'm curious if the process could revert back the transaction to the owner or sender. Since that could considered an invalid transaction, It's quite depressing that the coin will loss just like that. Probably tx transaction will not occur in a block since it error. Do you have the idea if this will happen or scenario it does happen?
-
Chances are you lose coins because you are wrong and do not match the procedure in storing. But it could be because your wallet is not safe and easy to break into by hackers. They are criminals in this Crypto. So for this I recommend that you use a good and trusted wallet like Myetherwallet. That's all my opinion for this.
-
Yes its possible, because if the owner of the coin is careless or misplaced his wallet, then he will probably lose is coin or tokens
-
Yes it's possible to happen cause my friend had a bad experience like that her funds lose in sato wallet and she can't log in anymore till then her coin stock on an exchange and she never use wallet again.
-
actually there are many factors that cause our coins to be lost due to wallet factors, but for the moment I think the biggest factor is due to negligence in storing personal data, which causes the wallet to be hacked, or it could also open a phishing web or open an email that is at risk of spam. therefore I think to reduce it is to start to be more careful in storing our personal data. if for hackers to get into the blockschain it might be very difficult because it requires an algorithm that is really complicated in it
-
Of course it is. You have to be very careful when transferring and storing cryptocurrencies. If you are not sure which wallet to choose and transfer your funds to, then please ask someone you trust about this. Or better; Do your own research and find out about the best method and the wallet to use. Crypto is all about research and if you DYOR right, then you can't go wrong.
-
I had a different thought when I read the title of the thread, I though it had something to do with wallet hacks etc.
-
Not only different coins transferred to the inappropriate wallet can be the reason of losing coins.
There are many unsecured wallets that also can be very disappointing issue to lose.
-
Exactly. All the coins that you send to the purse of another platform go nowhere, and as far as I remember, they cannot be returned!

absolutely sending coins/token to an incompatible wallet your coins/tokens will be lost blockchain is an irreversible transaction better to double check the details before sending.
-
I think it depends on the individual, if at all times we are careful in sending coins, it might not happen, and most importantly we have to choose a good wallet.
-
Some wallet can let you recover your fund which you've sent to wrong wallet. But we have to be careful when we send coin/token.
-
I dont understand well the question. May I send my ETH to my NEO wallet? It's impossible. So there is no chance to lose coin coz of wrong wallet.

Therefore, do not send coins to an address that is not for the coin because it will immediately lose the coins you have. Be more careful in sending coins.
-
It you refer to a sending to an exchange you should be able to recover the tokens.
But if you send from a wallet to another, it is possible.
-
I think it cannot happen because if the coin has its own wallet and you try sending it to a different wallet the transaction won't be successful and therefore you can get your tokens back.

I think a good person will never do sending coins or tokens to incompatible wallet. I am sure we must learn firstly about the wallet before we transfer the tokens. We just need to google, then many sources will tell us about the explanation. Today, everything is not difficult, we have many things to learn us. There are various articles about cryptocurrency, including the article about token-wallet. So, the chance to transfer tokens or coins to wrong wallets is very small.
-
Yes you have to be very careful when you want to send a token to a wallet or exchange to double check address and compatibility.
-
The problem can be for coins like EOS or UNIVERSA that were ERC20 so in the past they were on ETH blockchain and now are on their mainnet.
You have to pay attention to development of each project before sending a coin to a wallet.
-
This is certainly yes. Each token has its recognized body for storage. Sending coins or tokens to a wallet that does not recognise it would deem it junk and you would loose

Well, it has long been known. That's what happened to me with my first bounty company. I sold my tokens for ETH and translated them into a purse ETC, but they are next on the list was. I was very disappointed. I've been more attentive since then.
-
You're right. you can lose coins. I recommend storing coins in different wallets. It's the best way to save your money.
-
if in my opinion not bro. losing coins because we are not careful in maintaining the assets we have. such as not providing additional security and cleaning the cellphone and lectop from dangerous viruses. and installing applications from sources that are not clear
-
If your sending tokens into the wallet you need to check first if it is compatible so that you can avoid losing of tokens,if ERC20 you need to send ERC20 tokens only check properly because their are some tokens that is different smartcontract.

You will lose your coins if you send a wrong coin to a different competitor, the erc20 token has other disadvantages, such as if I send a token to a different contract address, the token will not be sent to your wallet address.
-
Obviously we will lose our coins or token when it is wrong to send other wallets when transferring. But when we try to send coins or tokens of different platforms will fail sent. For example try to send ERC20 token to Wallet based on EOS, Wave or Neo will not. Because I've experienced alone and we should swap first to be transferred.

Yes, of course, you need to use already proven services, and avoid everything new and untested. Even the most reliable protected exchanges are subjected to attacks and hacks that already talk about wallets. Nobody can provide full protection and no one can give a 100% guarantee of protection either, but the bank does not provide complete protection against robbery.
-
Yea, am pretty sure that when you send a coin or token to a wrong address, the transaction will be completed but will be lost forever. E.g sending BTC to an Ethereum address no matter the amount of btc, the worth of it. You can't recover it.
-
Very interesting
-
Beginners usually cannot distinguish wallets from different blockchain platforms, if I send there to the wrong wallet we will lose the coin, and we must be careful when sending coins to the wallet.

You can lose all the coins you own if you choose a wallet from a fake supplier. Nowadays, many scam artists create fake sites like the main ones. This way they can steal your coins if you accidentally get a fake website.

I think It is possible. We must be carreful to choose the wallet. I prefer use MEW to safe my coin.
-
It will definitely disappear. Because if the EOS blockchain-based Coin is sent to the erc20 wallet it won't enter and disappear. Because erc20 is based on ETHereum and EOS has its own blockchain.
-
Yes, of course we will lose our coins if we choose the wrong wallet that doesn't match the coin. Indeed, there are many new coin projects currently running on the Ethereum Platform, therefore the most popular now is the ERC20 wallet. But there are also Cryptocurrency projects that run on platforms other than Ethereum, so this is where we need our precision before we decide to send coins or tokens that we have. We must make sure, which wallet is suitable and compatible with the coin, so we don't lose the coins that we should have
-
It is very possible to loose your coin for choosing the wrong wallet, there was one bounty I hunted when I started bounty at first, I used one exchange wallet instead of ERC20 wallet and all my tokens were gone.
