Title: ASICs and how they may change ETH mining
Post by: EmoneyABC on October 03, 2018, 11:31:28 PM
ASICS mining hardware is getting a lot of press these days. Some claim that the introduction of the specialized hardware serves to centralize mining by benefitting large operations over normal users. Others argue that ASIC development has always been an inevitable and natural progression of mining technology.

Until recently, ASIC mining wasn’t something the Ethereum community had to deal with, though it was definitely something they’d considered. However, in early April, Bitmain, the largest producer of ASIC hardware, released the Antminer E3 Ethereum mining ASIC. Though they are limiting the sales of the new miner by number and geography, it’s only a matter of time before the Ethereum ASIC is widespread.

As Bitmain started shipping the first batch of Antminer E3 this week, the first user reviews came with it. And they are quite favorable – the actual hashrate even exceeded the promised one by 25 MH/s amounting to 205 MH/s. Now E3 has a competitor available in three different models, and the competitor is the Innosilicon A10 ETHMaster. Which of the two is more profitable: Antminer E3 or Innosilicon A10?

Is this the end of GPU Ethereum mining?
