Title: Can Bitcoin overtake the dollar as the world currency?
Post by: Munareal on October 14, 2018, 10:06:29 AM
The Bitcoin cannot overtake the dollar as a world global currency because of its high volatility. The value and price of Bitcoin change dramatically within no time. Bitcoin has a slow confirmation time and the value can change before a transaction is completed. Also, Bitcoin has a maximum supply of 21 million Bitcoins can be mine in total which makes it unsuitable as a global currency.

this will be an issue where the dollar will weaken because the growth of bitcoin gets bigger, I can't make an assumption that the dollar will lose to bitcoin but obviously now bitcoin has a high selling value

Honestly, we still need fiat, or local currency to fulfill the need of everyone we cannot let everyone just use card or atm for all their transaction, there should be tangible means of buying our basic needs.

To answers your concerns:
1/ Bitcoins volitility (believe it or not (https://www.buybitcoinworldwide.com/volatility-index/)) has been steadily decreasing over the past decade, it's recent bubble top was only half the volatility of the bubble top in 2013. In future years, it's likely to be half that again. Increased volume decreases volatility.
2/ Yes confirmation time is very slow, and along with mining fees crippled the network in December 2017. However the Lightning Network (a Bitcoin side-chain) is currently scalable of processing more transactions than Visa in microseconds, making Bitcoin useable for everyday transactions with a smartphone.
3/ Bitcoins fixed supply is for controlled inflation (until 2140). It means a group of powerful people can't print as many Bitcoins as they like, when they want. BTC is divided into Satoshis (0.00000001฿), meaning until Bitcoins price reaches $1 million, then 1 satoshi will be less than a cent ($0.01).
Hope than helps  :)

I think bitcoin will still be a profitable digital asset in the future, the dollar is still the No.1 for global currency transactions, but here we discuss bitcoin, bitcoin will also be a formidable opponent for the cripto world competition .

It will never happen because Bitcoin has a fluctuating nature and it is very dangerous.
Imagine if Bitcoin is at the highest height then it drops to a low point in 1 hour, and it becomes the state's money, I'm sure the country will collapse.

I think bitcoin will not be able to overtake the dollar for world currencies, because all have their place and the dollar is very strong for a currency in the use of transactions between countries.

Have you thought about another cryptocurrency? I agree that Bitcoin has a low transaction rate. I think of a new modern cryptocurrency that can be successful.

Most likely not. Bitcoin is likely to be used primarily by individuals, not by states or even by business structures due to its high volatility.

There are lot of factors to be considered before the US dollar will be replace by the Bitcoin as the world currency. The internet must be accessible anytime and anywhere, the blockchain speed transaction must be improve that if possible it will be an instant and finally not all people don't know how to use Bitcoin specially the poor. If these factors will be resolve then replacing US dollar will be possible.
