Coinmarketcap.com is excellent, but I wish they would include an option for us to view a graph of a token's market cap over time. That doesn't always mirror the token's price over time because of the inflationary/deflationary tokenomics/supply. I have suggested it to them before, but they don't seem very interested in publishing the graphs.

I have different opinion about this matters. I would recommend CoinGecko instead, especially for newcomers. It has more clean and less confusing UI with better coin/token categorization. CMC doing that badly, especially when categorizing privacy coins[1].

Honestly, I tried to use Coingecko more for some other reasons, but CMC is still more user-friendly, or at least it is much more convenient for me to use.
Although lately, CMC has become quite slow, too much data is loaded, often completely unnecessary, plus various advertisements and javascript, and it has a lot of impact on the usefulness of the site itself.
I would like to see a better alternative that will be devoted exclusively to the needs of the user.

In that case, have you tried using adblock add-ons or software (such as uBlock Origin) to block those ads?

There are so many desktop or mobile application which shows cryptocurrency data, where it's data taken from either CMC or CoinGecko API. One of those probably could be more user friendly for you.

Ads are not the main problem, but too much information that CMC wants to offer on the same page. Various meme token trends, airdrops, feeds from social networks...

I saw some WordPress plugins that offer something similar, coin markets using CMC or CoinGecko API, so I'm thinking of creating a page for my needs, where only what interests me will be filtered.

Coinmarketcap used to be very popular and active for everyone back then, Coingecko was around but hasn't captured the heart of many because of the user based but Coinmarketcap fell off the moment they sold the platform to Binance for 200m, I remember they tried to bring in new people using aidrop to then but the part where they put comments for users turnout to a place for spam and scam.
The UI on the web is also slow, not very responsive, I don't know probably they didn't increase the bandwidth or server but coingecko is given and better in performance than Coinmarketcap by far.

I think coinmarketcap lost some credibility when binance bought it. They were bought years after the OP started this topic.
However, I personally prefer cmc compared to coingecko.

Coinmarketcap is one of the most useful platform in making research about any interesting coin or token in consideration whereby all informations needed about it can be sourced from coinmarketcap, bit the use of the platform is not a surety on amy search we make to be genuine, we also have to engage making our own personal research and findings to the we are having the right information, because they won't be held responsible for any wrong information, we have to fo oir own research.

Yes, you are very true. Coinmarketcap site is very important for all newbie crypto users. Because here you will get information about all new and old coins, moreover you will get all the best exchange list. The situation of all the coins is presented in detail and you will also get all the social links of a coin. Also you will get some genuine airdrops links. Basically you can get experience in all aspects of crypto market from now on so research coinmarketcap first before coming to crypto market.

coinmarketcap is the first to have come up before coingecko but when binance bought it there has been lots of changes already. and it started collecting data especially to the users signing up to the website. they are also airdropping coins and making users earn tokens.
i think one day they will connect your CMC account to your binance account. they will ask KYC from your CMC as well to compare.
they have lots of users though, i bet if they will create a forum, users from binance will automatically have one. same username with you log on to your binance account. ;D

Coinmarketcap is good but I prefer Coingecko because Coinmarketcap is owned by Binance. All the information that you can get on Coinmarketcap, you can also get it on Coingecko. I prefer how Coingecko rank their exchanges. Binance is not always at the top. But on Coinmarketcap, Binance is always at the top.

Those two sites in the crypto space have always used for price tracking of crypto values as well as crypto portfolio applications. A user uses whichever of the two as he wishes according to his preference and interface convenience. Between these two sites I initially used CoinMarketCap but later switched to CoinGecko. CoinMarketCap is owned by Binance while CoinGecko is completely independent. Although CoinMarketCap started its journey in 2013 in terms of year of establishment while CoinGecko was founded in 2014. Both of the site is preferable.

For those who have been in the game for so long though, I have a question,
Did you see Coinmarketcap improving since CZ and Binance takes over, they acquired it in 2020 if I'm not mistaken, and there was a big buzz around it since the acquisition and there are big promises by them that they will improved a lot.
But I haven't seen any though, but still, it's the gold standard now for checking crypto prices.

Since bought by Binance, CMC have several new feature such as providing more types of data and coin/token categorization. But some people including some types of data aren't really needed which makes the website slower to load. I don't pay attention to feature change which only available for registered users though.

For a while, more out of revolt against CMC, I used Coingecko. But I must admit that it happened quite a few times that I received incomplete information there, so additional checking was necessary. A certain number of top coins is ok, but the ones about which I needed as much reliable information as possible were imprecise, to say the least.

They overloaded it with a lot of unnecessary information, it can be very tiring and slow down if you come for short information and don't want to linger.

I think I will write a comparison article on both coinmarketcap.com and coingecko.com
I will dig into what they offer to the newcomer and the veteran crypto person.

Please do, That's worth looking forward if you are an active user of both Coingecko and Coinmarketcap I have an account on both but I lean on Coingecko because its more independent compared to Coinmarketcap that is owned by Binance.
There are already comparison reviews on two market aggregators, but its worth looking for more reviews between the two.

I'll wait for that comparison. I'll also read that if you'll ever publish it on the blogging site. Such nice to read things from someone who's veteran in the industry for such a very long time. I don't use coingecko that much but the last that I've read about them is they're also having some "candies" type of tokens for those active users there.

I use CMC occasionally but only to check the losition of a coin in terms of its market cap and its position on that chart but a coins market cap isnt really an important piece of information.
CMC is also handy as someone posted for a coins overview.

I'm using coinmarketcap for a week now, lots of SPAM posts but good thing is i can determine which one is real and which one is AI. I learned alot on that site and its good because they are also updated on news and trends.
