Title: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BABY STEPS AND NEWBIE?
Post by: PRIBO247 on October 16, 2018, 06:42:16 PM
I joined this forum November last year although I have not been active until recently. A few days ago, I referred a friend to the forum, after he registered he told me that his status is newbie. I wondered how that can be. So I ask, is baby steps and newbie different stages?

Newbie is someone who joined this forum but hasn't made any legitimate post yet. If he/she made one post, he/she will be promoted to baby steps. Next to baby steps is Jr. Member. That's what I understand.

When you join in this forum you are a baby step and when you post your first post you become newbie. Basically there are no difference. You have to be Jr. member to do bounty as most to bounty manager required this quality.

Yes, they are different. Newbie ranks are for those who have lower than 5 postings while baby steps is for higher than 5 (well, correct me if I'm wrong). That's what I know about both of these rank, concluding that newbie is lower than baby steps.

I don't think there is a "noob" rank. If I am not mistaken it is the designation given to a newbie.
Something like:
newbie - noob
baby steps - 10% awesome
jr. member - 25% awesome

But I could be wrong

EDIT: I just saw a newbie account with Noob designation so my answer is correct. See https://imgur.com/a/yuqTCG1

I think this is more accurate compared to the previous comments.
Newbie: 0 - 9 posts
Baby Steps: 10 - 19 posts
Jr. Member: 20 - 59 posts

If hope someone can correct or confirm this

I was never a newbie in this forum, I went directly from baby steps to Junior Member which is what I am now although I am an overachiever and would probably pass that stage soon.

What about replies ? can't replies also be seen as baby steps?

For those who have just registered an account in the forum and haven't posted yet, get a baby step rank. If we have already sent a post or comment to get a newbie rank even if only 1.

I am not sure why you call it overachiever. Looking at your badges, you already exceeded 50 posts/day at the very same date you registered. That's a super spammer in my opinion. Another thing, new members always start as a newbie (0-5 posts I think).

Replies form part of Posts Count if they are long enough (atleast 70 characters) and if they are posted on boards other than General Discussion.

I think newbie is someone who just registered on the forum that has just about 4 post while a newbie is someone who has made above 5 post in the forum, these are just my thoughts.
