Title: Long term investment vs. Hold
Post by: Bobcrypto on October 25, 2018, 10:08:07 PM
I had severally come across these two words in crypto ecosystem but unfortunately, there seems to be the same in meaning, long term investment and Hold. Now, i think that long term  investments are assets that are held for more than one year. While "Hold", simply means holding coin even when it is crashing, you must have faith that the particular coin you hold will go up in value at some time in the future, probably 1year or more. What are your ideas. Thanks

In my opinion. Long-term investments are more dominant and effective than having to hold. With a hold we must need patience and also every day must pay attention to the market. Whereas for long-term investments there is no need to do that. On the other hand, the benefits are mostly long-term investments and also guarantee a good future.

I just think both long term investment and hold have the same ways in their applications. Both mean to keep tokens or coins for certain time period, whether it is long or short. We also have another term, HODL. HODL also means to keep coins or tokens.

You have a point but in my understanding, Long term investment is a king of investment on do with time frame set before selling, and long term varies between individuals, some people can call 8months long term, while some will call 18months long term.

The word Hold is a a pattern of keeping your investment waiting for a target return before selling, in this case you can sell at anytime the value of your investment get to your targeted profit.

In my opinion, Hodl is holding assets that we have to sell at the right time. Don't have to wait for more than a year. while long-term investment is not selling their assets and will be used in the future. CMIIW

Hold is like a faith believing that everything will be fine in the right time even the present condition is to much down. Long term investment is like hold but much better than hold because no matter what is going on you won't give up your tokens. Both are good but it  depends on how we manage.

In principle, it is, these two values are very similar, you can safely choose both options. Now with such a market you can burn everywhere, so that the investor himself decides what to do and with which option to work.

For me long term investment and hold is similar cause when you invest the coin it turn into hold-hold because the price is cheap and you wait for the price goes up and that's what i called long term investment.

Yes friend, i discovered through some searching that the word "HODL" was actually misspelled by certain individual to mean "Holding" in this crypto ecosystem community discussion but, that in English words, it means the same with the word "Hold". Thank you

I agree with your opinion because from what I think, don't make long investments and hold it is a different thing because if you do long term you don't need to see what price you are on this day and let their assets grow until the time they want to take the money and they already know when to do cutloss, but for people who deliberately reduce and do not think realistically this will be a boomerang for themselves later if the coin does not go up or even goes out of the market

for me it is nice to hold tokens now because of the low prices of tokens in the markets, but if long term investment you need to buy tokens now because of its low prices sure you have a lot of tokens to buy now You yourself invest and hold it for a long time

Both for me. Long term investment is what can we say that you have an achievement or price that you want to get in your investment. That's the same as hold.

I think the terms can be used interchangeably because holding coins for a long time makes it a long term investment and it can also mean holding on to the coin even if all hope seems lost.

I dont agree about hold and long term. I personally prefer do day trading and short term. It is more profitable.

What is meant by long-term investment is that we really buy coins and our goal is to save for a long time until the price goes up. While "Hold" is when we have a coin and the price falls, the word hold is used.

if I if the coin that I hold in a period of several months there is no change or no increase I will sell a loss but I take another strategy to find an altcoin which I think will be monthly or I buy a coin that is certain and make a little profit from my trading

It depends on the individual, when compared to the bigger one, but we have to be patient to wait for some time, maybe one year can even be more, depending on how we look at the market price.

Long term investment and hold are virtually the same. To earn profit in cryptocurrency, you need to hold your coins for a long time which can also be termed as a long term investment. To conclude, I will say both holding and long term investment are beneficial in crypto investment.

Yes i think long term investment and holding is almost the same. I believe that if we are going to invest in a long term we are also just like holding. Because we need to wait for the right time to sell our holdings same with the long term investment. This is really both a good strategy specially on the verry huge dip.

Very interesting point . seems you are right :D . I didint look that issue from that kind of perspective. Yeah long term investment means investing for 1 2 year time period.
But we are saying hold or i am holding during bear market :D . While we are rekt day by day we are saying hodlll. So yes you are completely right.

Investors have different styles of investing, but they can basically be divided into two camps: active management and passive management. Buy-and-hold strategies - in which the investor may use an active strategy to select securities or funds but then lock them in to hold them long term - are generally considered to be passive in nature.

My idea now is a long-term investment. So I focus more on choosing coins that are appropriate for me and also have great potential in the future for my investment. So there are a number of coins that I choose that will later believe me that the coin will continue to advance and develop in the future, as well as Bitcoin and Ethereum. I am sure that it can grow in the future.

I think if we hold coins for the long-term investment we need to be patient to wait for the price of this coin to rise, Bitcoin is very popular in 2017 all altcoins will have good prices after 2-5 years. We can see someone who invests in ICO after coins the market entry price will be below the ICO price
