Title: ICO Scam, What is The Solution?
Post by: MOProgress on October 30, 2018, 06:42:03 AM
Several projects have come and succeed and have proven beyond any doubt that they are real, while most projects have come with the purpose to scam people. I have an opinion that if there are proper regulations and strict rules that guides the operation and the way ICOs are run, that will reduce the rate in which ICOs scam people.

If you have any other opinion or contrary opinion, you can share it with me.

Thanks.

basically, we can't predict the ico that is a scam. to avoiding it, we must be able to choose the good ico to followed. ico that is good will make the good results too. therefore, in choosing an ico we must be more careful.

The fact is that fraudulent projects are not so easy to recognize, because they make an interesting idea, collect money, and then disappear!

I agree more if there is an institution that records ico registration. So if ico is committing an offense, it's easier to track and given legal sanctions. I am sure this method will reduce the number of scam ico like in 2018.

While I agree that regulations can minimize the fraud or scam in ICOs, nothing still beats due diligence.
ICO regulations can also bring new investors in but it can also drive potential investors away (those who prefer anonymity)

there needs to be a new breakthrough about the rules or standard operating procedures for the establishment of projects and ICOs which will be useful for the benefit of new ICOs and filter them from scams or inability to enter the market

I think the best solution is to carefully choose the IO project. Read the whitepaper first, then see the roadmap. Don't forget to see also the activities of his team on social media. If they can provide coin progress information, that means the project is legitimate.

The solution for the scam token is to leave and forget it, because our funds will not be able to come back again. Then focus on the next project is potential.

I have read on other forum, where someone posted some ideas. One of the was (which I found particularly useful and interesting), that ICOs would have to pay some fee in % relative to their hard cap, which would be mandatory to post their thread on the forum. That is how, scam could be eliminated.

indeed currently there are so many ico as well as many who scam and the number is more than ico which is not scam, it is very difficult to distinguish ico who is scam or not so in my opinion we must be more careful and careful in choosing ico.

i think it will be a little difficult to determine the project scam, even if given strict regulations. too many ways to make a project like that.

to avoid it, i think the only way is we must always be vigilant and more careful in choosing projects. it's a bit difficult to distinguish, but we can trace it from the #DevelopmentTeam  first.

The solution to avoiding an ICO project that is scam is to recognize it. The way to recognize a Scam ICO Project is to learn more about the ICO project and also have to be clever in researching the Project. Must be careful of the project by examining the project team, teamwork, target markets, market opportunities, number of investors who enter and others. From there you will be able to make a decision to choose which ICO project is really good and which one is just a Scam.

The best solution to avoid scams is to know the characteristics of a scam project at the ICO. You can do research and also observe the project you want to invest. You can see the Project Team, Team Work, Legal Basis, White Paper, Project Website if any and so on. Because in this way you can later distinguish which ones are Scam and which are not in this ICO.

For me we can't say what is the legit one or fake one in ico we just have to be more careful for investing some ico to avoid losing funds or to be scammed we have to be vigilant if you don't know the project don't invest it or else ask someone else who know the project you wanted to invest in.

Yes of course. Clear and strict regulations will reduce the possibility of having scam ICOs. Perpetrators would have to think twice before scamming other people since they can be easily charged and held responsible.

In some area we are bounded in corruption that made some people blind about the truth that everyone work hard to support their needs. Scammers are blind in terms of who cares? They only sees themselves as the only subject to earn from stealing other cryptos. Very unfair! I hope they will do things in good motives and in fair with us.

I think the solution of a scam ICO is learnings. We need to learn on how to know more about ico or to know on what is the scam or maybe legit ico. Because sometimes scan ico has also a very promising project that can really get a lot of investors. Maybe we need to learned more on choosing good ico for good and to avoid losing our capital. So I believe that the solution is with on us.

For me the only solution that we can provide or do to avoid those scammed ICO's / Projects is we must really do our own research to that project to know if it will going to be a good or not.

The solutions for ICOs scam is on our selves, it is mean we must increase our skill when we choose the ICOs projects for investment, we must read more about the ICOs projects, we must read more about the aspects of fundamental on the ICOs. Those are good solutions for us as investors of ICOs projects than blaming the ICOs, when the people got scam in ICOs basically they don't know anything about the projects of ICOs and they must learn more about the ICOs and any other cryptocurrencies.

Yes that's true, the solution for ICO scam is in us, it's not easy to provide solutions in the Crypto world, because everything is anonymous, nothing governs the Crypto world. Everything is borne by the users themselves, all losses or vice versa. So for me if I want to participate in the ICO I always do a lot of research to avoid regret at the end.

You can't stop scams as long as humanity exists. There are scams all over the world, in every country, with every currency. Scams are not exclusive to Crypto. Therefore instead of trying to stop scams, we can try to educate people to not fall for scams. Once people don't fall for crypto scams anymore, then scammers will try to find other ways and get rid of crypto.

There is no legal entity that regulates the ico project because ico is very risky, we can do research by looking at the ico project from the project team members, but now scammers are very brave, they flog video and upload their original photos. believe in their project.

As I learn, so far, scammers are very difficult to detect. They are always increasing their formula, their system, and their promotion to make all people interested and sure about the ICO. Scam ICo is not different with the legit one. However, if we can analyze more about their real team members, it may help us. Many scam ICOs can be detected from the profile of each team member. I also support to make strict regulation for any ICO to avoid scams. But, it will be also very difficult. Just this is our ways how to be smarter and more careful in picking the ICO.

The solution is really easy to be able to avoid the Scam ICO. Namely by making observations only in the ICO Project. First, pay attention to the Project concept, then read and understand the white paper, then research the ICO project team. Then, if there is a check out the project website. So that later you will find out which projects are good and also not and which ones are Scam.

Choosing right ICO is hard to understand if you are new at this market, especially in the ICO stages.
Team, advisors, project area and too many things to be looked at if you don't want to be scammed.

Just be carefull with the team and take a deep dive to the project details.

there is only 1 thing to minimize if not stop the rampant scam ICO in the marketplace. It's the government intervention that will get rid all of those scammers. government should intervene the activity of ICO and would require them to register in the government agency and put a money ban so that if ico failed. Investors would get back their money from the hold funds. This would secure private investors money and sue those who attempt to scam the people.

It's hard to detect if the ICO is a scam, but you can prevent investing on it if you spare a little time to read through their project you should check their whitepaper some are just copied from other project and also the team check if the photo and name is a match if they really exist.

Scam ICOs is a complicated problem in crypto world. It will be rather difficult to solve, It needs contribution from all parties. I guess, the solutions are:

1. Crypto enthusiast must be smarter and more selective in analyzing ICOs.
2. Doing more complex research before joining a new ICO. Don't only focus on whitepaper, we need more observation, especially about the personal information of an ICO project.
3. Applying more strict regulation / rules to new ICOs. They must show complete identities of the each team members. If not, all crypto forum must not accept them.
4. Crypto world should have an authorized party to judge whether a new project legit or scam.
