Crypto Exchanges Line Up to Support Bitcoin Cash's Hard Fork

Six of the top 10 crypto exchanges by bitcoin cash (BCH) trading volume have announced plans to support the cryptocurrency's upcoming hard fork on Nov. 15.

Bitcoin cash's roadmap includes upgrades to its core code every six months, but disagreement over some changes to the network have raised the specter that two distinct branches of the cryptocurrency could take shape, given that two implementations – Bitcoin ABC and Bitcoin SV – are being put forward by competing teams. While the outcome isn't clear, one scenario would see two separate cryptocurrencies arise from the fork.

As users will automatically receive an equal amount of the new coin to the amount held in BCH, it is important that their exchange is prepared for the event and will later allocate the new tokens.

A number of exchanges have now made clear their positions should a split occur, with OKEx, Binance, Bitforex and Huobi having all stated that they will "support the hard fork." Poloniex, a rank 51 exchange for BCH, stated more explicitly that it is "prepared to support trading markets for both tokens."

Coinbase was more reserved, saying it will support the current roadmap, but it added:

"In the unlikely event that multiple viable chains persist after the fork, Coinbase will ensure that customers have access to their funds on each chain."

In preparation for the event, most exchanges have said they will suspend bitcoin cash withdrawals and deposits soon before the fork to ensure customer funds are not at risk due to instability of the post-fork network(s). Users should take care not to deposit BCH during this period in such cases.

And it's not only exchanges that are having to take decisions over the potential creation of a new coin. France-based hardware wallet maker Ledger has said that, if the fork results in separate bitcoin cash blockchains, "eventually, one of these would be the dominant chain, which we will evaluate to support again then."

It's worth noting that Bitmex recently launched a fork monitor for bitcoin and bitcoin cash. The BCH hard fork is set to go occur on Nov. 15 at around 17:00 UTC.

Here's the current status of the top 12 BCH markets on CoinMarketCap regarding the hard fork at press time:

This video has become notoroious leading up to the fork, well worth watching regardless of your thought's on Roger. He exposes Craig Wright (Fake Satoshi) very nicely.

Prepare for the Bitcoin Cash Hard Fork

Quote
Hard forks happen all the time here in crypto land. They’re not always dramatic because they don’t always result in the splitting of that cryptocurrency’s community, but these kinds of splits do happen. Our first introduction to this kind of emotional crypto divorce happened when Ethereum made some decisions that led to the creation of Ethereum Classic. Last year we saw Bitcoin split and birthed Bitcoin Cash, and after that we saw what seemed like a million other versions of Bitcoin split off as well, like Bitcoin Gold, Bitcoin Private Bitcoin Platinum, and the list goes on.
On November 15th the crypto crowd is now waiting to see what will happen when Bitcoin Cash hard forks. If you care about this one, here’s what you should know about the hardfork as well as some things to be aware of if you’re considering investing in Bitcoin cash in the next couple days.

This hard fork is happening because there has been a split in the Bitcoin Cash community which has been represented in the forms of Roger Ver with Bitcoin ABC and Craig Wright with his Bitcoin SV. It could be that Craig Wright has had his eyes set on a split like this happening far before it was actually announced. These assumptions are stemming from the fact that this new competitor, that is Bitcoin SV, which is the chain that Craig Wright is very vocally supporting, ties in very nicely with what his company Nchain has been working towards, that is his Teranode protocol and 1 terabyte sized blocks.

I am choosing not to venture down that rabbit hole of crypto drama. Instead I would much rather focus on what’s actually happening with the Bitcoin Cash blockchain, which side the miners have been signaling, how the futures tokens have been trading leading up to this split and which exchanges will be supporting this new chain.
Cutting right to the chase, the miners are going to want to chose the chain that will be most profitable. We could talk all day about which side has more miners backing it, but this can easily and quickly switch. There’s another interesting thing that’s been going on and that’s the trading of these BCHABC and BCHSV IOU tokens which are trading on Poloniex and HitBTC. This often happens before anticipated hard forks and it is an indication of the future price of the coins involved.

There are a lot of people who think it’s logical to purchase Bitcoin Cash now just to take advantage of getting some free coins. The thing is, those coins aren’t free. The increased volume has created a BCH price hike. You’re essentially paying a premium for the sake of getting a coin who’s future price is unknown. Not to mention the fact that BCH will no doubt see a down turn after the fork. Not to mention the fact that we’re seeing this split in a bear market, a market where people are hungry for any kind of return.

In a time when most seasoned traders have scaled back from making risky trades, the volume we’re seeing in BCH preceding this fork is either an indication of improved sentiment, or evidence of traders who are about to learn a hard lesson.

If you’re wondering which exchanges have announced they will be supporting the new Bitcoin SV chain, I’ve found the following list:Also, be aware that the BitPay wallet will not support Bitcoin SV.

I want to wrap up this video with these thoughts, take a look at the situation like this, the political components, on one side we have Roger Ver with Bitcoin ABC. On the other side there’s Craig Wright and Bitcoin SV. If ever there was a question of whether or not specific individuals, which is the epitome of centralization, have the ability to influence a cryptocurrency, this is it. And quite frankly, the fact that one of these chains will be called “Satoshi’s Vision”, it’s laughable.

It is currently over 100% more profitable to mine on the BTC chain as BCHABC and BCHSV combined hashrates grow to over 10 P/Hs.
Currently ABC is around 30 blocks ahead with a 60% BCH hash majority. Hash rates have leveled out a bit today: https://cash.coin.dance/blocks/hashrate

This is the problem, nobody actually knows. There is no way to definitively call a "winner", at least it's not clear where the finish line is here to be honest. The split is still quite fresh, 60-40 with ABC 55% ahead on work, so is very close still in my opinion. It could take some time for one side to back down, since they are losing millions by hashing at a massive loss right now. Ver and Wright are effectively playing a game of chicken, with millions of dollars from one side or the other going down the drain. They will only stop when one person gains a clearer lead, or the other backs down. It's not about which side is right or wrong, it's just a straight out hash war.

In the meantime, the prices across exchanges for BCH has spiraled out of control out of confusion. It's anywhere between $250, from exchanges effectively trading it as BCHABC (with the BCH) ticker) to $350 from exchanges who supported ABC throughout, while BCHABC actually trades around $250. Price wise, that $100 difference will decrease overtime, either the price dropping another 30%, with SV gaining, or the other way around I guess.

Hope that helps, it's not just you who is confused and doesn't know is going to "win" or when this is going to end. It's become clear that in the long-run there will be no winner, both chains are effectively very centralized now with monopolized hash, this much has become clear. It's not about reclaiming BCH anymore, it's about recently losing a relatively decentralized network to two clearly distinct centralized parties. It's an epic fail and think it reflects widely on the dangers of hard forks with a competing party. Craig Wight is out to destroy blockchains, this much is clear.

REAL winner of Bitcoin Cash War

Quote
Bitcoin Cash Satoshi's Vision seemed to be the dumb loser coming up with scars from this war. But if you look at the event closely, BSV was created and listed on top exchanges like Binance, a lot of attention was drawn to the project, and opponents were made to look like fools - so is BSV the real winner of this war?
