Well, this question is not so much about altcoins as such as about free and unrestricted competition between cryptocurrencies, by and large, bitcoin included. I think it is the first time in the modern history when it is possible to see how currencies can compete against each other without government intervention promoting one coin and trying to compromise another. If I'm not mistaken, right now we have over 1000 different cryptocurrencies. I don't know about you but to me it is an obvious overkill, a lot more than we will ever need, for real life. So how are things going to develop in the coming years? Will most of these currencies die out eventually and thus their total number is going to decline dramatically or will we always have an influx of a shitload of new coins?
What should we expect from cryptocurrencies on the scale of years or even decades? How many will be there and how many do we actually need?
-
It is impossible, however, that the flow of coins will be constant, gradually the trend will go away, and the market will remain the best and most useful coins, and the rest will simply die out. In the next year or two, we are still waiting for an uncountable flow of new coins, but after that it will end.
-
I hope crypto and technology can be used in every country, actually there will be no coins that die if they have a strong community and the developers keep having discussions with community members they have collected for a long time, sad if I see a successful project but they leave does not provide information about the development and progress of the technology they have developed
-
I am sure in future as long as altcoin is concerned, the number will be reduced because most of the shitcoins will possibly crash because they will not be able to survive the crypto market but the legit ones will remain. I am also sure the rate at which altcoins come in will be reduced because investors will only be interested in more potential coins than in just anyhow coin.
-
Old unpopular cryptocurrencies will die, replaced by new a more perspective coins with 2.0 technology. Also i believe that coins like Ether will continue to evolve coz of DEX'es like ethremium.com (http://ethremium.com).
-
Many shitcoins will eventually die, but this is not due to the fact that there are lots of coins, but because the coins don't have a clear purpose and their #DevelopmentTeam fails to develop the coin. There are lots of coins in the crypto market and new coins emerge every day with different objectives but I don't think that all compete with each other but they go together with the traders who can exchange.
-
The needs of humanity changes over the decades, so we need new solutions. Every altcoin is focusing to solve one problem, some of them are affecting directly to our lives, and others are focusing to solve problems of the blockchain which provides new opportunities for other crypto coins.
So the answer is, we will need so many new projects in this area.
-
in fact all criptococurrancy coins are good but what they can last as long as we expect
for long-term investments, it's better to choose only a few coins that we think have great potential in the future and can last a long time even though they often crash
-
This is getting every investor panic and feeling that Cryptocurrency is becoming a Gambling platform, the number of ICO,s coming up each day are so much that the investors are becoming confused,it will be best it is regulated to avoid scam ICO,s and investors security.
-
A lot of Coins/Tokens are not real currencies and just a utility Coins/Tokens. Among the huge number of cryptocurrency, only very few are competing in term of being a real currency and the rest of this very big list are just projects in which most of them are just shitty projects and will die eventually.
-
It seems to me that we are not able to predict the list of altcoins that might have a bright future. The market is changing from year to year. Many of them will not survive or exist at all. Regulators would work closely with all new ICOs in order to prevent some fraud.
-
I agree, Before I don't really believe that there's another world/industry that where these kind of things are happening. Competitions between those coins/projects are really normal now it's like survival of the fittest.
-
there are many altcoins that have good prospects and that makes altcoin suitable for investment or trading. I think if we can manage it well, then we will also get the benefits. I hope that cryptocurrency will still last for several years to come so that we can get profits from it.
-
Nowadays looks like exists altcoins for everything. Specialty ERC20 tokens. On ethermium.com already trading more than 1500 tokens.

Until the cryptocurrency will be legalized around the world, there will be various people, scammers and honest people who will create their tokens for various purposes. When the legalization begins, if this happens, then the number of altcoins will drop a lot.
-
I think there will be many altcoins to die in the future. Because there are more than a thousand cryptocurrency in the world. This is compounded by the emergence of many ICO scams. If you want to invest in cryptocurrency, you have to review it yourself and not follow someone.

Hey, cryptocurency is not illegal, mate it just have own jurisdiction which cannot be toppled by government. Something like that is what you called decentralization, hate to break it but if one isnt regulated under the government then its not legal? Then your belief and sense of underatanding is quite low.
-
usually altcoins just emerged from a new project too. if the project has good prospects, the coins produced also have good prospects. therefore we must be smart to choose a good project so that the coins obtained also have a high value.
-
each existing crypto will be selected by the users of those who deserve to continue to live and develop, when they are not selected the coin will die automatically and vice versa if the coin is chosen by the user because it is useful and other reasons the trading volume and price will increase

What i see is there will be more altcoin flowing into the market either good coins or scam coins as crypto is the in trend investment instrument and the developers will want to tap on this big market.
-
I do not think that Altcoins will surpass Bitcoin and Ethereum. but students should learn from their masters and surpass them, let's see what happens)
-
in my own personal views yes there's existing competition of altcoins and it's natural to develop good prospect to obtain a high value coins,as of now many coins in market today i believe once people patronize this coins all of them will survive.like ordinary currency or flat money thousands of them exist allover the world .like crypto or all coins it's useful all will survive
-
I agree that competition is now being develop in altcoins because there are so many available in the market that we can choose, so teams should develop a unique platfos to encourage imvestors to invest.
-
I think that in the long term conditions will be created on the market that small, meaningless coins will die off by themselves and only 50 will remain
-
There are rivalry in some altcoins that wants to defeat weaker platform. The stronger will survive because investors wants the reliability of the project. And as far as I know we have more than 2k different altcoins in the market that's how crypto progressive is.
-
well, there are several points on this matter... first I think this squeeze that is happening right now and has happened along the year will be killing the shit coins, that's one of the reasons why these lows are needed...
then, I think we can't also put all crypto on the same bag, as they are not all competitors... a lot of them have a purpose other than simple transfers... nevertheless I agree with you as there are a lot of coins that do exactly the same and it will only be a matter of time until most dissapear
I am guessing this phenomena will get more stable once the adoption increases and people start to have knowledge about what they are doing...
-
Competition between the Altcoins has been and always will be. This is a normal healthy process that will always encourage cryptocurrency to improve and compete. Therefore, if Bitcoin remains in such a pathetic for a long time, we see it with seven transactions per second, according to the laws of the market, it will be shifted from leadership to cryptocurrency.
I think that over time the number of types of cryptocurrency will increase, and mainly due to an increase in the number of tokens. We need tokens because they are used in a narrow area of human activity and make it much easier, making it more comfortable and safer.
