A developer consciously and maliciously injected a code into the software used by the popular Copay and Bitpay wallets just to compromise them. Here is the full story https://news.bitcoin.com/copay-and-bitpay-wallet-apps-were-infected-with-malicious-code/
Now when I first saw this story, I asked myself who is this developer and how was he able to inject his malicious code into the software? Could he be a disgruntled former employee? Or is he still a present staff paid to compromise the software? What is his story?
What do you guys think? Is this developer, no matter his reasons justified in what he did?

Whatever reason that developer has, it is still not acceptable to infect a wallet that hundreds or thousands will be using. Imagine users losing thousands of dollars from using that app.

This is a bad news for crypto community. I think the developer should work on fixing the matter asap and give some public statement and apology as well for the client.

bitcoin from crypto is associated with large funds from everyone can easily change their mind seeing the amount of value they can master kettle cheating on others. for that we must be vigilant on every website related to crypto, do not arbitrarily login or give authority to certain websites without a clear track record

Too many innocent users will lose their hard earned money just because a developer wants to take revenge? That is not good at all. Stay safe everyone.

Did you say apology? A developer that deliberately set out to sabotage a product is not going to apologise for it. He did it with intent.

the more money circulating in crypto will be interesting also the bad side, namely those who are always looking for loopholes to cheat others. stay alert and watch out for your crypto assets

The story is incredible, given that the malicious code wasn't even in the crypto software, but a module of npm. It goes to show the popularity of crypto when hackers are going to obscure lengths to hack it! It's worrying how much software relies on npm.
