I have been wondering why it took Ethereum this long to replace Ripple in number 2 on CoinMarketCap, previous times it does not take Ethereum 48 hours to return to #2 on CMC, any idea?

Just now ripple is very active and constantly improving its technologies and trying to find as many partners as possible and ripple starting new cooperation, so ripple has grown in demand, and ethereum as always long doing their updates, but when the market will begin to grow, then ethereum again will take its place.

Hopefully as soon as possible, for me XRP at no.2 is the sign of a bear market. The largest altcoin being centralized speaks volumes to me.
I'm waiting for ETH to pass it to confirm a bull market reversal personally.

I see ethereum is struggling now. Ripple is doing better than ethereum now. Maybe at the next year, ethereum will get back to #2.

There is no one here or anywhere else that knows when that kind of matter will exactly happen, but if Ethereum is
doing good or performs very well after the bearish market season ends, Ethereum will surely take back its number
two position on the highest capitalization.

It's been 1 week xpp is in number 2 and until now ethereum can't go up shifting xrp, maybe this situation will be different if ethereum has done their idea in January, I'm still sure that eth will rise but in early 2019

If ethereum don't do anything may be ethereum will still on 3rd place. XRP to be giants because many parents back up it when market get down. Please wake up make new market of ethereum.

easy to do. ethereum requires more users and investors to make ethereum volume increase. currently the ripple volume is more than ethereum.

Currently, Ripple is a favorite among people because of it's advanced and good innovation and technology, so many people move from eth to ripple. When the market returns conducive and the value of BTC goes up again, I think your question will be answered soon.

Actually from first after BTC people maximum trade done with ETH. So maximum hold their assets with ETH. So when market down maximum give up their eth in market and eth price fall down. Their transaction also make slow. In the mean time people think another token that they can trust. So Eth is in 3rd position. no matter it is.

The near reason why could be of deep ethereum crash than ripple stays the same at. 3 to .5 dollars. The value of ethereum affect much the market cap.

The delay in launching ethereum 2.0 played a major role in the recent decline in value of Eth. Ripple, on the other hand, has been active with their latest developments. I expect Ethereum back at number 2 by January 2019 if the new platform won't be delayed any further.

Well, i think ethereum is facing some difficulties in bringing some new features to reduce this current price declining and in my opinion, many investors are beginning to throwing in the towel on ethereum investment.
I doubt ethereum will be able to regain the number two positions by January 2019 looking at the ways things are going. I looking at the end of first quarter 2019.

Market capitalization will increase if price pumps proportonately, then trading volume will increase and automatically ranks changes. XRP is now on the 2nd ranking in Coinmarketcap.

I hope eth back in placed as much as soon. I also wondering when i see xrp beat eth for long time.it is bad effect in eth. I hope in this year eth will back the race.

Ranking is just a number you should not be too focus on it, low ranking coins is also able to do even better than higher ranking coins, i don't deny the fact that rank can be an indication to the coins you might be investing into but ranking is not all of it.

Out of xrp we still have xlm, that also a decent coin that had a lot of good features and a big community. ETH had advantage that are being saved by whale, so I think sooner ir later, ETH will take back the 2nd position

Ethereum will get back to #2 once awakening the entire eth investors to pump this token. I think it is just a one blow job to pump at any time when people are reunited to do the same constantly until eth is in #2.

Don't you think that ethereum should pick up itself by increasing its market price before we should really care about the ranking? Ranking is not everything to a coin.

For me, Ethereum returning to no.2 will be the sign of a bull market on the horizen. XRP is a speculate investment that to me isn't as value as decentralized blockchains and peer-to-peer currencies. In the future it will be ETH that leads another "altcoin season", not XRP in my opinion.

Ethereum will return to its second place in terms of capitalization, apparently when the planned improvements will be implemented in it, which, among other things, will increase its scalability. Now, it seems, this is postponed until the beginning of the next year. Therefore, this year, probably, ethereum will not be able to regain its rightful second place in terms of capitalization.

Ethereum will soon get back its 2nd position again as I heard ethereum hard fork is expected soon and this hard fork will entice the people to buy more ethereum in order to get fork coin so this could be the reason in coming days for ethereum to get back its 2nd positiion again.

I don't think it will happen at the end of this year, Ripple has a great chance to get second place and XP maintain its position to date.

I think the developers of ETH are not ready for these massive dumps. It's unexpected for them that they will go down to this bottom as they have established their product. I know they will return at second spot at the right time.

ETH is the best altscoin per my knowledge. XRP has only been a competitor because of the red market. Should there be a bullrun, you will see the superiority of the ETH over altscoins

In my opinion maybe because now Ethereum is hard to trust by investors because many people are dumping Ethereum so they are reluctant to buy it and also supply Ethereum which they add adds to the trust of investors to this coin, ICO scammers who use Ethereum to attract investors in their project adds to the severity of Ethereum, because most of the outstanding ICO adapt the Ethereum Platform for their crimes, and make investors not trust Ethereum anymore, maybe someday there will be a way to make Ethereum back to the position of the two highest coin peaks according to Coinmarketcap. and I hope so too, because I still use Ethereum in my daily activities, and i hope situation back to normal again like use to be, and we all get profit from crptocurrency again.

very soon hopefully, ethereum will take its place as #2. Ripple has taken #2 position from ethereum a number of times but eth got back to place so no worries.

Ripple is doing better that Ethereum because Ripple blockchain technology is better than Ethereum.XRP transactions are faster, cheaper and more scalable than Ethereum. It is very possible for ethereum to get back to its number 2 ranking because both are targeting completely different sectors.

Yes ethereum is already moved up in second position although ethereum market capitalization is slowly decreasing because its not fully recovered yet but I hope ethereum will rise again soon.

Ripple seems to be doing well in this bearish market trend compared to ethereum which is struggling. But I’m sure ethereum will move to the second spot when the market improves.

Ethereum is take second position in coinmarketcap now although there is no big difference to second and third position because still the cryptomarket is going the bearish condition so perhaps ethereum might be go down again.

Need ETheruem really in rank 2 and that is my own choice.
I always trade with Ethereum in the local market, if Ethereum drops to number 3, the volume of Ethereum will also decrease.

Ethereum has already come back to second (2) place on CMC. Now it looks like to stronger in its development. Ripple seems hard to overtake ETH again. By the way, I think it is better to lock this thread because ETH is already on #2 position.

It does now! It surpass XRP by a $3m difference. The fork that ethereum recently launch help a lot to return the number 2 spot. I think, the sign of bull run was already seen recently and it just need a triggering point to spike the price. 2nd quarter of the year was a very promising dates for the cryptospace.

Hey OP, look at the market now and see how much money is circulating for Ethereum when compared to the number 3.4,5,6 etc.
You can also check on CoinMarketCap, if Ethereum is now at number 2 in Coinmarketcap.

Current ethereum status is good it slowly moving forward in cryptomarket although there is no big pump although Ethereum has second largest market capitalization so I think it will not go back down again.

Maybe the reason why it took etherum so long is because that particular time is not good for etherum but believe it me that the right time is here for etherum that's why he has to replace ripple as no.2 in the coinmarketcap that's what I think happen to etherum as it becomes active.

Agree with you, mate. Ripple could overtake Ethereum last year since there were negative issues about Ethereum. But this year there is a lot of good news and the market also begins to recover. So, I think it will be hard for Ripple to beat Ethereum again. Ethereum is already in second place and it seems to survive.

Now it's number 2 coin Markecap and it's very easy for Ethereum to return to rank 2 and take over from Coin Ripple.
And then leaving Ripple is so easy because Ethereum has a high level of trust from all Cryptocurrency traders.

Well he posted in last November which is that time XRP and ETH are really fighting for the second position on the market. Honestly it as really a shocked when the xrp sat on second position for a days or weeks if I'm not mistaken and it was really sure made the crowds hyped which will really going to be the second currency here.
