Title: Will the governments kill cryptocurrencies
Post by: pragna on December 01, 2018, 08:01:25 AM
Some governments are starting to embrace blockchain and cryptocurrencies and others are literally closing the doors to this technology. Do you think governments will continue to fight back against cryptocurrencies and decentralization?

I think not all governments will do this, because I seen some governments support Bitcoin and they can make crypto work really good for their country.
That ia a decision from every country, and I tjink as long we can use crypto in right way, I'm sure if that can give us good impact, not always about bad thing.
And one thing, the governments isn't kill crypto, but they banned crypto in their country, I think you know what the different between it.

No, this statement is not true. Governments can not kill cryptocurrency even after wanting. Because cryptocurrency is a digital currency. And the coming era is the digital age. In which cryptocurrency will play a special role. Cryptocurrency is connecting people with the digital age.

The government still needs time to adopt cryptocurrency. They prefer stable coins that do not have high prices. Because they are regulated at a price of 1: 1 usd.
I am sure that someday there will be a government that accepts crypto as a legitimate payment transaction

It is difficult to say if governments would like to do this, they would have long time ago banned cryptocurrency around the world, but they are postponing their decision and it is unclear when they will make their move.

I don't think governments have the reason why they have to kill Cryptocurrencies unless they don't really understand the benefit of this technology. It is nearly 2019 right now and digital technology is at its peak. You will be left behind if you don't embrace the digital currency which has many benefits and uses especially nowadays that almost all transaction was done online

Soon crypto will be used by the government as a payment system that is recognized by all countries, they cannot reject this technology, if the brand rejects it I think they should be ashamed of using blockchain technology, blockchain and crypto is a container and cannot be separated for any reason , everything is decentralized

I think the governments already realize that they are no need to kill cryptocurrencies. We know some governments very friendly with cryptocurrency and help to develop it. Moreover, there is a government that tries to solve its economic and financial problems with crypto. It shows us the governments try to understand the existence of crypto.

Practically all states highly appreciated the advantages of the blockchain technology, as long as I don’t know a single state. who would not accept this technology.
As for cryptocurrency, 111 states have already accepted it, and only about a dozen prohibit its circulation on its territory or significantly limit its circulation. Therefore, the crypto-currency continues to spread confidently around the planet.

Governments do not close the door to blockchain technology. I do not know of any state that would have a negative attitude to the blockchain technology and would not intend to use this technology in its activities.
Regarding cryptocurrency, the situation is much more complicated here, since, in general, decentralized cryptocurrency is unprofitable for governments. Under pressure from people, governments can accept the cryptocurrency for circulation within the country, but they will not actively support it.

There may be some governments who are worried about the risk of cryptocurrency, which makes them not too hasty in accepting and developing cryptocurrency in their countries. But technological advances are increasingly sophisticated and people's needs for practicality are increasing. Of course, the government must find a solution and cryptocurrency is the best choice for the future.

The war against cryptocurrencies is going to continue until Government has full control on them.
It is important keep control on money movement to avoid any crimes like money laundering of unofficial activities financing.

Even in spite of the fact that many states are now accepting cryptocurrency, we should expect that in the future they will tighten the rules for circulation of cryptocurrency on their territory. However, the state will no longer unite to destroy the cryptocurrency. It has too much support from the community and governments will not risk doing this anymore. And many governments already understand that it is almost impossible to do this.

Well, I think it is very difficult to be done. Because, crypto has involved many people around the world, not only one or two countries. If the government doesn't legalize the crypto in their country, they still have a chance to involve in some certain ways.

In my opinion, I think there are some government who will try to block the cryptocurrency in their respective countries, but of course there will be some who will embrace it. The government can decide whatever they want for their countries. But maybe, since the cryptocurrency is already widespread in many countries, the government who will try to restrict cryptocurrency may adapt it in the future.Maybe they are still doing their own research if the cryptocurrency will bring good things to them.

Most likely, we need to expect some periodic tightening of the rules of cryptocurrency circulation in society. However, this will depend on the specific state, and more precisely on the level of development of democracy in society. We see that in states where totalitarian regimes exist and human rights are violated, there is no free circulation of cryptocurrency or its circulation is too limited.
Given that the level of democracy in the whole world is growing, it is unlikely that governments will already be able to prohibit the use of cryptocurrency by citizens, but it is quite possible to tighten it up.

It makes no sense for the government to kill the cryptocurrency. Cryptocurrency is a massive phenomenon, a much more advantageous solution would be to take control of the cryptocurrency, impose additional taxes and restrictions. Another mechanism for managing people in the hands of the government. All attempts to destroy the cryptocurrency will only lead to its even greater distribution.

Cryptocurrency is a decentralized digital currency. I don't think the government can regulate or turn off the circulation of crypto digital money in its country.
We should not forget that monetary policy in any state is an exclusive function of the state itself. Therefore, if someone intrudes into the territory of a state with foreign money, the state has the right to either legalize them or prohibit their circulation. Regardless of what someone considers them not to be regulated.
It should also be noted that without legalization and regulation of cryptocurrency by states, cryptocurrency will not be able to further develop and will be applied at the level of transactions between citizens.

Generally, cryptocurrency's purpose is against government's will. Banks are owned by governments to help moderating the economies. Reversely, banks finance gonerments. Whereas, cryptocurrencies tend to eleminate banks' roles. If goverments want to kill crypto, they definitely can. But why do they have to do so providing that crypto's impact on banks is very minor at the moment. That's not to mention, governments can leverage crypto as a way of laundering money or just simply earn profit.

The government has fiat that can be used to make payments, cryptocurrency is more transparent and safer, with crypto buyers and traders need not worry about fraud. Not many countries accept crypto payments, because they are still worried about the ever changing crypto exchange rates.

if countries will continue to ban cryptocurrency then it's a yes! Some countries are not crypto lover, they usually not allowed any crypto related activities. Such action will somehow hurt the system and will eventually decrease the acceptance of crypto currency globally. But I have a faith in crypto currency even if it's fall it will always find a way to rise again.

Some governments reject cryptocurrency while some accept it indirectly. Those governments that rejects it can only do so but they can't kill it simply because a lot of their citizens have embraced it and it has become a part of them. Many of those countries where cryptocurrency is rejected, their citizens are still involved in it so the government can't kill cryptocurrency.

In the future, we should expect periodic tightening of the conditions for cryptocurrency in the states.

Actually it's not the Govs but the banks, in particular the Central Banks.
The CBs are the lords of the currencies, they don't like competition.
The only cryptos they like are the cryptos they create.

Govs are not against cryptos. They want to regulate them, as these become more and more important.
As long as crypto trading  can be a source of tax income, they won't oppose them  :)

Only those who will not benefited from cryptocurrency will probably oppose it. Im thinking they are against it cause they wanted the tax to be implemented on their business and increase the shares given to government. But some crypto firms will not be swayed by this. I know politicians will used this chance to extort money from them. Thats why there are still many provisions beig draft and made.

I don't think decentralisation as being the main point of cryptocurrencies.
You can have centralisation and still benefits of using cryptos.
Even with centralisation cryptos can be superior to fiat.
They are the benefits offered by blockchain:
- avoiding intermediary (banks),
- cheap,
- fast,
- transparency,
- privacy (which is not anonymity)
- limited amount of currency

A couple of days ago we have heard of nothing less than China's monetary authorities developing their own Stablecoin.
Today we hear that the Gov of a tiny state is going to issue its own national cryptocurrency.

The particularity in this case is that this cryptocurrency will not be backed by the national currency (like in the case of, for example, China).
This cryptocurrency will be itself the national currency.

I would honestly say that they’re not capable of “killing” cryptocurrencies, but to regulate instead. The government and banks don’t have the control of the blockchain. Even if they locate the center of everything, it’s impossible right now to be killed because it’s widely spreading to various hot and cold wallets, exchanges, etc.

There are some countries that did ban citizens from using Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, but it cannot be “killed” for good.

Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology: ‘Promote 5G, Encourage Participation In Blockchain’
September 4th, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the “Guideline on the Development of Industrial Big Data (Draft for Comment)” to publicly acquire opinions from the public. The submissions explicitly mention the promotion of 5G, NB-IoT, to promote the deployment of IPv6, and encourage enterprises, research institutions and other entities to actively participate in key technologies such as blockchain and secure multi-party computing, reducing the risk of industrial big data circulation.

At the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering conference, President Xi Jinping pointed out: “A new generation of information technology represented by artificial intelligence, quantum information, mobile communications, Internet of Things, and blockchain accelerates breakthrough applications. The world is entering an information-led economic development period,” adding that it shows that the country’s policy makers should embody the important role of blockchain technology in China’s science and technology development.
Hyper Speed Network (HSN) is dedicated to the use of blockchain technology to build a network security and trust mechanism for terminal uplinks applying 5G architecture. It can support the multi-source information interconnection and exchange of big data uplinks in the digital age.
NineChain Technology, a subsidiary of HSN, located in Shenzhen, China, also actively responded to the policy opinions of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. In addition to providing 5G+blockchain technical support for HSN, it provides solutions in areas such as data security and financial risk control.

Governments don't fight against cryptos, they just want them to be regulated.

The real question is if the monetary authorities, i.e. the Central Banks, will allow a real competition to their currencies, to the "money" that they create and manage.
Hier the answer is no

About a dozen states prohibit or restrict the circulation of cryptocurrencies at home. However, I do not know a state that would prohibit the use of blockchain technology. Blockchain technology does not pose any threat to states or their governments. It is very revolutionary in terms of using the single Internet information network in the world and provides many profitable opportunities for each state.
