What this person said. There's no reason to risk https man-in-the-middle attacks with MEW, just use MetaMask.

People should be warned about this risk. It will be really useful to make examples with screenshots, for sure all user that use MEW will understand better how this scam works 8).

Haha. I think the one who sent you a mail has no understanding about what he's doing or just trying to make a joke.
-
Thats why we cant trust everyone here, if you trust make sure you know his information that he is a legit.
-
I read about this only today! Thank god I didn't receive an email before that. Thanks for sharing this though, very important to know. Seems like MyEtherWallet has been hacked and I'm not sure if everything is back on track now. Looks like they got quite some coins out of this. Twitter is useful and the wallet also posted this to help users https://myetherwallet.github.io/knowledge-base/security/myetherwallet-protips-how-not-to-get-scammed-during-ico.html. Hope you stay safe!
-
Very great, then we need to be careful of how we quickly reply to such emails. Thanks very Admin

Metamask is handy Ethereum wallet. You can check this thread for more details - https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=12738.0 (https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=12738.0)

hi, i have never received an email from myetherwallet party, i think this is a nice warning from you, can you give me the email address that send the email? so we can also be more careful..
-

You need to ba alert in this phishing emails because they are very convincing! Many people in crypto are victims of phishing sites.
-
I have such a rule that I never click links in emails or any other attachment and all what possible is switched off by default in settings. This golden rule saved me as for now from infection. I think it would be useful to add that I never download anything what I don't trust. Torrents is a big no on the same computer with crypto.
Additionally for crypto related things I have an appart computer only for wallets and other needed programs. Still don't trust telephones and don't use crypto on it. I think this is the most hackable device.
-
I just want to add that when you join slack, you will receive an e-mail about myetherwallet being upgraded and you should never click that link in the mail because by the time you enter your private key in that site you are redirected, consider your coins already lost. We should also not ignore if the site is http or https because this will be your guide when a site is secure or not. Additionally, always access the sites you are always using bookmark because when you search in google, many advertisement appeared that are just a copy to original site.
-
It would be a miracle to get an email from myetherwallet as they don't ask for it when you sign up for a new wallet
-
You are right. I once found an email from myetherwallet and was directed to a phishing link. Don't access the web by giving us private key so that our assets are not hacked. The anticipation i initially looked it in Metamask, this application is very helpful in detecting scams. Our wallet is a little more secure from hacker attacks than we access the wallet from the website.

What this person said. Wouldn't surprise me if there was a phishing link in that fake email.
Never use MEW without MetaMask or a hardware wallet, simple!
-
Yes,simillar thing went here also; friend of mine got on false site without knowing ofcourse that it did not start with https and got hacked badly. Be careful guys.
-
Thanks for warning. A lot of people fall prey to these scammers. It seems like they find a new way to scam daily. Let's keep exposing them.
-
That is a new scam trick. If one does not know, he/she will fall into the trap. Thanks for sharing, its a head up notification.

Pleasing to see how vigilant you came. I think a lot of newbies would have easily fallen for that. EtherAddressLookup might be an ideal tool against that. Random links can be very costly. Holders can be very careful if this. And also, MEW is so helpful too against such malicious activities.
-
Myethereumwallet authorities never pm or email you . If any email appear then it considered as phishing email or scam site.
-
I think it's a phishing site because myethereumwallet authorities never pm you because I know so far they have no need to contract with you . Please leave the group if they know your accounts privacy features.
-
I strongly recommend you that all wallets authorities never pm you or emailed you . If you get any emails from my Ethereum wallet team management then you should consider it as a scammer or phishing emails.
