While governments and banks in some countries are trying to hamper the development of cryptocurrency-related businesses, other locations are cashing in on the investments and new jobs that the industry brings. The latest example of this is the establishment of bitcoin ATM manufacturer Lamassu in Switzerland.
Lamassu, the well-known cryptocurrency ATM manufacturer, which assembles its machines in Portugal, announced on Jan. 1 that after years of searching for a home, it is now officially Lamassu Industries AG of Lucerne, Switzerland. The reason given for choosing the Alpine country is a more welcoming environment for crypto-related businesses, in contrast to other locations where the company struggled to maintain a bank account, leaving it bankless for the past year.

​​Dubai's first bitcoin ATM installed at Rixos Premium on JBR

Dubai residents and tourists can now buy Bitcoin through an ATM using just cash.

According to a Khaleej Times report, the UAE's first ATM that dispenses bitcoin is at the five-star Rixos Premium Dubai Hotel at JBR.

Buyers need present no documentation other than cash to buy bitcoin instantly. Customers will need need an Emirates ID or passport to sell the digital currency later, according to Anhad Dhingra, CEO, Amhora, which holds the licence for the ATM.


“At this kiosk, you just insert cash and you get Bitcoins instantly. It is possible to purchase Bitcoins through banking platforms and debit cards already but since we accept cash, it is very different. This is the first commercial Bitcoin kiosk in the city,” Dhingra was quoted by the report to say.

Dhingra’s ATM has been licensed by Dubai’s Department of Economic Development. There is a five percent commission on the total purchase for buying bitcoin through the ATM which transacts the currency in real-time exchange rates.

The number of bitcoin ATMs is growing very rapidly all over the world. I was reading the news on CryptoSlate months ago and I came across an article saying the number of bitcoin ATMs grew by 700% in 3 years. I have used a Bitcoin ATM, many times. Sometimes, there are small obstacles, because these are new devices, and have bugs. Anyway, the ATM operator was responsive, and all problems were solved, very fast.

As I remember in Japan they have a highest amount of Bitcoin ATM in the world and they are also a friendly with crypto country too. They are a small country but alway leading in any development of the world

The number of ATM is growing proportionally with the people will to invest part of own money in Bitcoin.
Furthermore, this is the best way to buy Bitcoin anonymously but with high fees!
I think that fees are a big limit to this ATM spread.

Bitcoin ATM is growing fast even if the price of Bitcoin is in bearish. I am sure it is a good sign that the future of Bitcoin should be promising. Yeah, in 2018 when people were fearful about the Bitcoin future, I didn't worry at all. I saw that the Bitcoin ATM was improving.

In my country also has Bitcoin ATMs. As far as I know, 1 ATM is in Jakarta and 2 ATMs are in Bali. I think it is a good sign that Bitcoin adoption is growing and spreading out in more countries. It also makes people more trust in Bitcoin and crypto as a whole.
