Ethereum Classic Vision (ETCV) are reportedly hijacking users private keys trying to redeem their allegedly forked coins.

The Ethereum Classic Vision (ETCV) has been confirmed as scam after one victim confirmed the loss of 131 ETH on Reddit, while both of their websites, https://ethereumcv.io and https://etcv-wallet.com have also been deactivated.

Previously, the Guarda Wallet team reported their suspicion on the ETCV project that claimed to be the first fork on the Ethereum network scheduled to happen on January 11th.

The report stated that two fake hard forks called Ethereum Nowa and Ethereum Classic Vision that aim at stealing users’ funds. Ethereum Nowa claims to be an Ethereum hard fork while Ethereum Classic Vision claims to be forking from Ethereum Classic.

They both ask users to provide them with their private keys. Those users that are not aware could certainly lose their funds if they give their private keys. Both Firefox and MetaMask were able to detect these fraudulent sites.

The Guarda Wallet team wrote that analyzing the code, they found out that the private key is not only being processed by the tool but also being sent to a remote server. According to the Guarda report,

This happens because people don't take the necessary precautions. We MUST know that private keys are not given to anyone, as the private key holder, can get our funds. The solution is easy, and you can be protected, by sending your coins to a different address, and leaving the address empty, before giving the private key to redeem the new coins.

All this happens because of the chance to get free coins during the hardfork process. It turned out that all of that was used by people to steal assets from the wallet. So it is better for us to always carefully guard our wallets and not be tempted by free coins, which are smaller than the ethereum assets that we have. And this can be used as an experience in the future so that it doesn't happen again.

No matter the level of the juicy nature of the said "hard fork", i don't think its wise idea to give out one's private key for any reason whatever. Wallet keys are very sensitive code and shouldn't be given to out to anyone or your coins are gone forver. Let us protect our coins by safeguarding our keys all the time.

Unfortunately, this was confirmed, but still people should understand that the private key should always and everywhere know only those people who use the wallet, no one except you should know it!

Now it has become very difficult to distinguish the fraudulent ICO project from a non-fraudulent one. At the btt forum, from December 27 to January 11, an ICO on advertising the fork Ethereum Classic Vision (ETCV) was held. More than three hundred members of the community joined the ICO bounty subscription campaign, and with high-ranking accounts. Such an ICO, without creating its own tokens, was carried out earlier in order to attract attention to a certain coin. And in this case, the holding of such an ICO did not arouse suspicion. As a result, all were deceived. Cryptocurrency fraud, and in particular in ICO projects, has reached a threatening scale. Two forks were announced, and both turned out to be frauds. When was this still?
We cannot do without state regulation of ICO activities.

This is news really true. I think hard fork will be done in 18 january. In many announce keep your asset don't give private key to some one else. In market exchanger and wallet still no changing ETH and ETC still exists. I think it fake news to make price of ethereum down again.

Very sorry for this incident. I was really shocked to see the news about Ethereum Classis Vision (ETCV), how could this happen. I thought this project was very clear, it turned out to be a disappointment. :'(

Yes, I also participated in the ICO signature campaign of this project on the btt forum and was quite confident in his good intentions to popularize this withdrawal from ethereum. Fraudulent projects turned out to be not only ETCV, but also ETN, which should have been conducted almost simultaneously, with a difference of one day. We are shocked by the audacity of the scam.

Despite the fact that everyone already had to make sure that the ETCV fork is a common fraud, the second round of this ICO is now being held on the btt forum. The audacity of the scam has no boundaries. For the sake of curiosity, I looked at the table how many people participate in the subscription campaign; there was one participant registered.

I think that this is just a fake news, this project is working and developing for a long time and now someone has decided that they are fraudsters, I don’t think that all this is true

Yes, Ethereum Classic Vision (ETCV) was stated as a scam project by many people on another crypto forum. I have read the information and see their discussion. They provide proofs, and I think it really indicates a scam.

Right ,
Ethereum Classic Vision Real SCAMMER that was available at the beginning of 2019.
I also took part in a video campaign and the results were that I deleted my VOA because my account was afraid of getting banned.

If I know the person who created it like that, I want to hit it with wood.
