Title: Coinzest is giving away free Bitcoins! Accidentally...
Post by: RapidRabbit on January 23, 2019, 11:00:18 AM
It's hard to believe, but South Korean exchange, trying to airdrop WGT to their users, has sent them Bitcoins instead. Here you have whole article about it on spam blocked b (https://www.spam blocked b/btc-accidental-airdrop/)
I can't imagine how such a mistake was made... Well, now we can only congratulate to those lucky users of Coinzest, who have got rich recently

Surely everyone signed up to the exchange would also have a BTC address, the error being that the user's were airdropped in BTC not the WGT token.
CoinDesk appears to back up these claims too: https://www.coindesk.com/south-korean-exchange-loses-5-million-in-accidental-bitcoin-airdrop
The BTC price crashing to $50 on this exchange makes it seem quite likely that it happened in my opinion. Maybe some people were unable to withdraw?

The articles say that they already recovered half of the money sent and they are planning to make a rollback in a try to recover the rest, this accident is an example that all the scam and error happened in the past was not of Bitcoin or blockchain technology but because the people who are using this technology are not capable to use it.

LOL
I read it when I drank coffee, saw the sunrise and laughed with my wife.

If such an error is very difficult to do unless the error is done by a careless admin.
And only a few honest people for Refunds, LOL! Awesome!

I cannot imagine the magnitude of happiness their costumers felt seeing those BTC's unexpectedly appeared in their respective wallets and that painful feeling of humiliation or distress by the person/s who accidentally distributed the said coins. I do feel sorry for that individual/s. Mistakes do happen but needless to say this was one mistake that was absolutely out of hand. Naturally, it was unsurprisingly understandable that most [or all] of the recipients will not return those BTC's.
Anyway it's not everyday that suddenly -out of nowhere- you're in possession of a remarkably valuable something such as Bitcoin, don't you think? I guess not.

Is it possible it was done deliberately as some sort of advertising campaign? Weirder things have happened...

Was this airdrop sent to their private wallet address or to their exchange address? Cause the exchange sending its customers to return the fund, that's not possible, but if it was on their exchange, then they still have access to collect the bitcoins back. Where does the faith of the site stands now?

Lucky people. I wonder if the employees of the exchange will be able to track who exactly got the bitcoins, and get it back. If not, then those who got rich just lucky and this is a gift of fate.
