It is difficult to pick one invention as the greatest because there have been many inventions that have strong benefits. The computer is one of them, of course, and then we have the internet too. I rate the computer highly because it has had many use cases in many sectors, from healthcare to banking, etc. I rate the internet high as well because it has made a lot possible. There are other great inventions like electricity.

I support you on this because it's very wrong to call the computer the greatest invention whereas there are other interesting inventions we can mention. The computer we know of can be taken as one of the greatest not the greatest as OP put it. However, you just did well in pointing out to OP other inventions he can think of as one of the greatest inventions made by humans

There are other inventions that has brought us this far aside the use of computer, however, we cannot deny the fact that computer is part of them, we have the satellites, medicine and many other aspect which has been improving human lives.

let’s do some background research mate this post was posted 7 years ago and the last time op posted was way back 2018 i don’t think we still should be policing him when he doesn’t seem to be active in the forum anymore sure we can still bump these old threads but we need to keep in mind that the standards we have now might not have existed back then or maybe they just didn’t care much about it
rather it’s best to just make use of this kind of post as an example to others or just concrete proof of how much the forum and its members have changed over the years no need to lecture op you are just barking up the wrong tree

In a way computers lead the evolution of many things but don't remember computer didn't came as a first product it's just came after the calculator being a foundation and they needed something to solve more complex. So if maths didn't exist we wouldn't have computer, if calculator didn't exist then we wouldn't have computer, and this list just goes on...

Its one of the greatest inventions, but I cannot call it the ultimate one because it will not come out perfectly without other inventions attached to it, like the calculator and electricity. The computer is an evolution of what man has accumulated and put into a small object; I consider electric lightning as the greatest invention, as it is considered the foundation of electrical architecture. So many inventions were created that relied on this.

Computer is among the greatest inventions but I won't say it is the greatest, I think if I'm forced to mention one I would probably pick medicine, without medicines nobody would be healthy to use the computers but they are all great because they helped us in one way or the other.

I could say that inventions that have existed from the onset of technological era till this moment are all important as each of them has their own important role they play in easing human efforts in the course of rendering services and to acquire knowledge. The computer is also very much important on its own because it is has played a big role in making information accessible to everyone but I really do not think it is the greatest of them all, it could be said that it is amongst the greatest because of the role it plays. One thing I would say is that every invention is unique on its own accord because it has a role to play by virtue of is discovery.

Lets see where we go from here, there are new inventions in the digital technologies and the more we go the more we see still coming, inventions are not what we should take for granted like that, there needs to be more relentless efforts towards them, we are going to get the best of them all the more we keep on researching on what the current problem is and how a solution is being applied in tackling it, with the use use of modern technologies, which computer is one of the things we cant do without.

I don’t think there are much as far as technological advancement is concerned. Computer has played a very big role in this eras technology and evolution, without it, we may not have gotten to some certain stages we are now already as a people on this earth. The advantage and contribution of computer to the world cannot be overemphasised as if it’s taken away today, we will see ourselves going back in decades to what we are now already on the earth. Computer is relevant and there’s no way we can do not without them again forever.

I agree. Computers have completely changed how we live and work. Without them, we’d probably be stuck in the past, doing things way slower and harder. They’ve brought us closer, helped us learn faster, and made life more convenient. Honestly, it’s hard to imagine life without computers now

To me invention is progressive so for the mean time computer is one of those invention that are leading still to leading as we may not currently find an invention that can beat the computer system, I believe that in the future there may be inventions that may beat the computer system but for the present time computer is the greatest invention that man has happened to man
