Cryptocurrency discussions / Just Another Failed Experiment?
« on: August 27, 2018, 11:09:38 PM »
Bitcoin is a foretaste of the kind of future we will be having. It has many advantages and positive features which the people are clamoring for especially after the economic near-collapse in 2008-2009. We need a better financial system away from the controlling interest of the greedy and corrupt traditional monetary platform we have right now. However, the road to this better financial system is not an easy one...can be just as bumpy as hell in fact. Change is not something that will happen overnight...it has to be fought and there will be casualties along the way (which can make things and people go sour).

Bitcoin and the technology behind it (the blockchain) since just another man-made is not perfect and nothing will be... but it has the features that can minimize the pull of human nature. Things are hinging on how we the people would appreciate Bitcoin and how we can use it for good and not just another tool for our greedy and corrupt human nature. Right now, we are always experiencing volatility all because of over speculation (partly cased by our desire for more or greed).

We should be hoping that after all the dusts are settled, Bitcoin will not be just another failed experiment...or just another man-made system that fell because we failed to go beyond our shortsighted human weaknesses.

« on: August 27, 2018, 11:05:49 PM »
Hi, just wonder what will happen when Bitcoin reached its max. supply i.e. 21M, currently, the circulating supply is 16-17M.  Will miners not get their profit on mining??

What is your speculation about bitcoin reaching its maximum? value?

Cryptocurrency discussions / Still confused with Blockchain
« on: August 27, 2018, 09:48:06 PM »
until now I'm still confused about blockchain, does the blockchain run automatically, or is there a controlling party ?. if eg automatic anyway, surely there is the creator/inventor, who is the inventor? , surely he knows more deeply about blockchain, or maybe he can control it.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Cryptocurrency Scams
« on: August 27, 2018, 09:46:02 PM »
WHAT SCAMS CAN YOU NAME AND SHAME SO WE ALL AVOID

If anyone knows of any crypto scams to watch out for or has been exposed to any can you please advise what?

I can't afford to invest in rip off pump and dumps so looking at other ways to invest and grow my holding. What are good investment options worth exploring and what should be avoided? or is it better to just sit on Bitcoin,

Please list any known scams for all to see and avoid.  Smiley

Scams to watch out for highlighted by members so far are:

TEAM VIEWER  People claiming to be from companies say they need access to your computer and use a software called team viewer to gain access – in some cases they rob your digital wallets. If you don’t know them don’t give them access.

BITTREX Although Bittrex is not a scam exchange as such it can be naughty from time to time with its rules which usually results in the user loosing – TIPS - don’t keep all your money on one exchange, be careful to read terms before carrying out transactions and keep high volumes of BTC on a ledger which is like a USB stick so it is held off line and can’t be hacked.

INITIAL COIN OFFERING Aka: I.C.O’s  Allot of ICO’s are scams, be careful to do as much due diligence as possible, online cyber criminals usually set up fake websites, fake social networking, email addresses and even phone numbers so go the extra when doing checks – one suggestion was doing extra checks like checking for a linked-in profile or registered company number that can be verified through companies house.. Another preferred alternative is to not invest in crypto currencies at ICO stage and to let coins come out first and monitor them for a few weeks before investing – this will help you avoid allot of the scams.

EMAIL PHISHING – DO not open emails from ICO companies or anyone you have not subscribed to (Don’t subscribe without doing due diligence.)

If i add someone on skype who wants to exchange my bank funds for their bitcoin funds, lets just say this person is in a forum but is a reputable poster.  Its not this forum but another forum.  I do trades like this in another forum but its almost always with someone i done a few transactions with and trust.

First off, if i add them on skype and just speak to them via chat and do not click on anything such as link or pictures he sends or video chat, am i safe from this poster sending me a virus etc?  Is there anyway he could send me malware just by adding me on skype and me accepting and all i do is chat?

The thing is if im sending bank funds to his account and then supply him the btc address i want him to send it to, well then as long as he is legit, he will send the btc to me without any problems right?

The other thing that i just bought is this.

Let say i have btc and i want bank funds or say skrill from someone.  They first send me the bank or skrill funds.  When they give me their btc address by copying their btc address to me in skype, is there a chance that when i copy and then paste that address in my electrum wallet, there could be a virus?  Such as that btc address is actually a keylogger or trojan or malware?  I had just thought about this right now as people say don't click on suspicious links or open files from ppl you dont trust etc.  However, is it possible for keylogger or virus like this if you were to copy and paste the btc address given to you into electrum?  But if you were to paste it on say chrome search etc... that might be dangerous?  I also read about the copy and paste bitcoin virus etc where when you copy a btc address and then paste it to send to that address, it would change the address to something else.  Can you tell me if this is related to the example i used with skype such as someone giving you the btc address to send to?  Or its completely unrelated?  Because i had not thought about how someone giving you the btc address to send to... could possibly be a virus/malware?  I assume if you are somewhat skeptical, you could just manually type out their btc address to send the btc to them like that?  Of course you have to double check and make sure as you type the whole address manually.  I know im sounding very paranoid with this but since people say dont click on links etc... well this is sort of like that right?

Cryptocurrency discussions / the note not to lose BTC?
« on: August 26, 2018, 09:43:14 PM »
In my opinion, the top priority is: Wherever you store Bitcoin, password / PIN protection is the most important thing you need to do. If a hacker gets your password or PIN somehow, what will happen to your property will quickly be transferred to their wallet without going back. and you?

The Chairman of the Thai Fintech Association (TFA) and Thailand's Former Finance Minister, Korn Chatikavanij, has offered his support for recent proposals that Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) should be tasked with developing and enforcing cryptocurrency regulations.

So, what you think about this?

Cryptocurrency discussions / block advertising
« on: August 25, 2018, 08:34:51 PM »
The FBI presses Facebook and Google to block advertising and materials about the crypt.

Banks (for example, in Finland) are forced to refuse to serve the crypto industry.

States feel a threat to the financial system. They are afraid that their phiatic system will not survive competition with honest crypto-active assets. There is no need to be afraid, the state. Your financial system will die, just accept it. It's unavoidable. The states have been pissing our money for so long, and now there will be nothing to piss. I wanted to say that we sympathize with them, but no, it would be a lie.
